editWhat is the protocol for updating a site's grammar and usage? Specifically, this page is informative, but it reads as though written by a victim of direct blunt force trauma to Broca's area. Can one simply go in an alter the content freely? Jpowersbaseball 15:59, 2 August 2007 (UTC)jpowersbaseball
multimedia project?
edit"The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded Anne Friedberg $25,000 in 2009 to research and write a multimedia project about Vorkapich." -- imdb
oh wait... "Anne Friedberg, a USC professor who broadened the study of cinema by emphasizing its relationship to other visually oriented fields, including architecture, art history and digital media, died Friday at her home in the Hollywood Hills. She was 57."

Slavko Vorkapić → Slavko Vorkapich – The article's lead sentence states, "known in English as Slavko Vorkapich". Creative artists born outside the English-speaking world, who become major personalities in the English-speaking world and Anglicize their names, are referenced by the Anglicized names. Thus, Richard Boleslawski not Ryszard Bolesławski, Michael Curtiz not Mihály Kertész, Paul Henreid not Paul von Hernreid, Douglas Sirk not Detlef Sierck, Andrei Serban not Andrei Șerban, etc. Vorkapich's name appears in many Hollywood credits — always as "Vorkapich" never as "Vorkapić" — all English-language references invariably list him as "Vorkapich": The New York Times, Pure Cinema, American Film Institute Catalog, IMDb, Filmstruck, Turner Classic Movies, TV Guide, etc. — Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 21:04, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
- Strong oppose Serbian. You'd expect anyone who went to America for a few years to be misspelled, but Wikipedia doesn't do that for people who returned home to Eastern Europe. In ictu oculi (talk) 22:15, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
- Not a misspelling, but a professional name / stage name in the English-speaking world. There are numerous examples for actors, directors and other members of the film community from Vorkapich's era — Paul Lukas not Pál Lukács, S. Z. Sakall not Szőke Szakáll, etc. In the case at hand, Slavko Vorkapich continues to be his posthumous WP:COMMONNAME in the English-speaking world. Film encyclopedias, reference books and all other resources, including Encyclopedia Britannica, title his entry "Slavko Vorkapich". —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 23:33, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support. I'm generally pro-diacritic, but there are well-defined exceptions and this one seems applicable and logical. A large part of his notability stems from his years in the U.S, and since he used an anglicized form of his name at that time, it makes sense to use it in an English article. No such user (talk) 11:03, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support Good arguments and examples were provided by fellow editor Roman. P.S: Serbia/Yugoslavia is not part of Eastern Europe. ty Sadkσ (talk is cheap) 20:59, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
