Shot dead?

edit

Suad Husni, how was Husni shot to death? She was thrown off a balcony. Like many people I believe that this was a murder and not a suicide, but what evidence in the world confirms this being a shooting case. The coroner's report came back clean, how would she have been shot dead without any bullets being detected. I'm not going to revert yet, but I need sufficient evidence to agree with you. Until then it should be the balcony story, not this speculated story that her friend killed her with a gun. Thanks FoxSportsRadio 00:35, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, the coroner's report I saw in Egypt revealed gun wounds. She was shot to death from what I speculate from that. Catherine Woods 01:04, 1 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'd have to agree with FoxSportsRadio on this one, I don't see why they'd try and cover it up?? If she was really shot I'm sure they would have said so. She was thrown off the balcony and I agree it might have been a murder. When you write something on wikipedia don't write it as confirmed just because your "sources" said so, it's all speculated so please don't add your own opinions as facts. Ral ani 18:12, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Catherine, two questions I pose at you:

One, if your friend, a huge Hosney fan, why didn't he/she come forward in either London or Cairo and say that her friend shot her to death. Or at least knew of the murder. I speculate murder, just like you, but this is unconfirmed news, and this is specifically for confirmed news. So do not keep the murder up, this is not a confirmed murder. Based on the circumstances right now Husni probably killed HERSELF, but neither is confirmed. Hold tight

Another thing, where is this alleged coroner's report you've said you've seen. The coroner's report when it came out five years ago came back with a suicide report, no gunshot wounds to the head, neck, and arm. So do not put unconfirmed reports on wikipedia, there is probably no coroner's report reporting she was shot dead or something along those lines.

Oh, and Catherine, why did you get into my account on the first day and say I were Jewish when you're not Jewish, you are? Explain that to me. FoxSportsRadio 02:44, 3 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

FoxSportsRadio, there was a coroner's report in England in June 2001. The report said that there were bullets discovered in her head, arm, and neck. They had the timing of them, she was shot in the arm, then she was killed instantly with the headshot, and the neck shot finished the deal. I was in England in the same flat as Husni when she was shot and killed. I didn't hear gunshots, her friend apparently used a silencer, and then I did see her friend through Husni to her apparent death, unbenownkst to me she was already dead. There was a coroner's report, she had been shot. Therefore, Sports Radio, from what I remember she was shot and killed and thrown over the balcony. Therefore, she is among the following death/murder/shooting categories:

2001 deaths Murdered entertainers Murder victims Unsolved murders Shooting victims

That's all I have to say, but she was shot to death, and then thrown. Quit trying to object to that with your false information.

Catherine, what do you mean false info? I'm interested, give me a copy of what you claim, because this seems like a lie. Until it's proven, she was not shot dead, she either was thrown in a murder or killed herself. FoxSportsRadio 16:32, 4 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hahaha I laughed so much when I read what you wrote Catherine, if you were in the same apartment as her and saw her friend throw her over the balcony then why the hell didn't you go to the police?? Your lies are getting more extravagant by the second Ral ani 10:01, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

What the hell do you mean? I didn't know which room Husni was in. All I remember is being there, and seeing Husni outside suddenly go down off the balcony. It appeared to be a push, but I didn't know which room she was in, and Husni was supposed to be checking in there, so there was no way to identify which room the murderer was in. I was in the hotel, but all I remember about Husni's final moments were the falling. It was found later when I saw her body that she had been shot as well. But hell, I had no idea where her killer was. Oh, and I'm not liable, I did not call, someone else did. Catherine Woods 12:41, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

FSR, quit being a vandal. She was shot dead, simple as that. Catherine Woods 13:29, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are you kidding me? What proof in the world confirms shooting? I would need to see your picture of the body, or the coroner's report you're saying. I have no evidence, neither does anyone else, have proof of a shooting. Also, why would there be a cover up? To make it sound like the Egyptian actress died a better way? She fell to her death! That's gruesome enough! Regardless she was killed or killed herself, that's gruesome enough! Stop reverting back to the shot and killed article. Now. FoxSportsRadio 12:48, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

FSR, are you ignorant? Do not take that offensively, but do you honestly think that this was a suicide or even potential suicide? I don't think so. I called my friend, and she did not appear to be shot to him, so I guess she was not shot, I give up trying that. I saw zero gunshot wounds, or at least to the head and neck. I had thought I saw that when I saw her body that fateful June 2001 day. My someone else had already called the police to get the case started, but even so, I thought that I saw a shot to the head. I guess I was wrong. Either way, I do not have any reason to speculate that Husni, who was a famous Egyptian actress, would've taken her own life. Do you? I don't think she would've come to London to get her back fixed and treat depression, and after five years she would kill herself. So I believe this has to be officially considered a murder case, there is no reason there would be a suicide for her. Catherine Woods 02:29, 9 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sarah, how in the world would you know? This is ridiculous. You don't know what is going on in their mind. From what I've seen, I do think murder first and suicide second. However, what evidence confirms murder. None. There are reasons why she shouldn't or wouldn't kill herself, however, having depression can make someone do something like that. So quit trying to revert back to the shot and killed statements, she was not shot and killed she fell from a balcony, pushed or self-inflicted, I don't know, all I know is is that she was not shot. FoxSportsRadio 12:40, 9 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

FoxSportsRadio, look at her. She was arguably the most famous actress in Egyptian history. Even when it comes to Egyptians, she at least should've had enough money for the best treatments for her depression. As for the spinal fracture, same thing applies.

I fail to see how and why she would kill herself. Suicide just doesn't seem probable to me, and that leaves murder as the only other thing. So I'm sold on those reasons that it was a murder. Catherine Woods 02:24, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

No objections to move to Soad Hosny.--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 16:01, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

This page is currently at Suad Husni, but the text uses the spelling Soad Hosny. Looking at various sources, though there many variants, as can happen when romanizing Arabic-language names, Soad Hosny seems to me to be the most common. I'd like to propose that this page be moved to that spelling. I'm open to other arguments, but in any case the page title should match the spelling used in the article, whatever that turns out to be. Bear in mind, there doesn't seem to be any official or preferred romanization, only more or less common ones. Any comments? Gavia immer (talk) 16:29, 4 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

It seems the BBC prefers "Souad Hosni". I did a bit of quick Googling, and found
Based on these stats, I would have to agree that "Soad Hosny" is the preferred spelling of the name. Of course, redirects from the other versions should be created, if they don't already. Parsecboy (talk) 15:25, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bias

edit

According to WP policy, "Neutrality requires views to be represented without bias. All editors and all sources have biases (in other words, all editors and all sources have a point of view)—what matters is how we combine them to create a neutral article. Unbiased writing is the fair, analytical description of all relevant sides of a debate, including the mutual perspectives and the published evidence. Editorial bias toward one particular point of view should be removed or repaired.[1]" The one source that claims that Anwar Wagdi was or Syrian origin is clearly biased. Admin CactusWriter has told User Supreme Deliciousness, "Persisting in constant reversions suggests intractability and antagonizing behavior. I haven't determined whether you are actually anti-Egyptian or just determined to add the word Syrian into every article whether its appropriate, but I do note that you seem to be in edit wars on most every article in which you are involved. ...I'm certain you know that would antagonize him. ...And stop trying to insert Syrian into biographies simply because somebody's grandfather was Syrian -- it's trivial."

Therefore, suggesting that Soad Hosni is of Syrian origin is not only trivial, biased, antagonizing, but also false. It is scientifically inaccurate to call someone of Syrian origin simply because somebody's grandfather was Syrian. It is against WP policy on Bias. --Arab Cowboy (talk) 12:17, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Its no false because several sources says she is: http://www.arabicnews.com/ansub/Daily/Day/010624/2001062407.html http://www.middle-east-online.com/?id=32318 and http://www.sis.gov.eg/En/Arts&Culture/Cinema&Drama/EgyptianStars/070402000000000010.htm and its not trivial because this is not a stub but a expanded article with a family section. If your grandfather is Syrian then you are of Syrian descent.--Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 14:36, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
One grandfather makes you 25% of a certain origin, not 100%. --Arab Cowboy (talk) 15:59, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
It doesn't have to be 100% for someone to be "descent" of that origin. One grandfather is still a descent.--Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 16:24, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why not just mention the Syrian grandfather under "early life", where information of her parents and siblings are detailed? Thanks. PF 01 Jan. 2017 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.170.236.39 (talk) 23:42, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Do you think the category: "Egyptians of Syrian descent" should be in this article? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Egyptians_of_Syrian_descent --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 14:55, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sources I have found says her grandfather was Syrian http://www.middle-east-online.com/?id=32318 and she has a Syrian family background: http://www.sis.gov.eg/En/Arts&Culture/Cinema&Drama/EgyptianStars/070402000000000010.htm --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 14:59, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
If you have the sources, which you do then yes.--SKATER Speak. 11:53, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The right question is "When is it appropraite according to Wikipedia rules to label a person of a certain descent"? Admin Sancho has stated the rule on this matter. He stated: "SD, avoid original research. Even the leap from "Sharif's parents were Lebanese", to "Sharif is of Lebanese descent" is going too far in an article about a living person." So, even if the parents were of a different citizenship, calling the person of that descent would be a leap unacceptable in Wikipedia. Both of Soad Hosny's parents were Egyptian citizens (her birth certificate is akready in the article) and she was born and lived all her life in Egypt. It is important to ask the correct question and give answers that are in line with Wikipedia rules and not personal opinions. --Arab Cowboy (talk) 12:16, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

No, Soad Hosny was not of Syrian descent. You asked the wrong question. Cactus has already told you so. --Arab Cowboy (talk) 12:29, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Quite frankly, this discussion is somewhat small-minded. The two sides are biased and chauvinistic. Certainly, you cannot say that Soad Hosny is Syrian: she was born in Egypt, and her mother is Egyptian. But her father, not only grandfather, is Syrian: he had Syrian parents; he was born in Syria and came to Egypt with his father when he was a boy (Syrian mother/Egyptian mother). And to make a point of not even refering to this fact, and inserting the word "Egyptian" after the name of every member of her family is protesting too much. It wouldn't hurt Egyptian pride, I think, to mention the obvious fact that she has Syrian, as well as Egyptian, roots. I mean what's the big deal? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.48.19.204 (talk) 18:28, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

A very interesting thing. Even the Egypt State Information Services, cited in the article as the main source for Soad Hosny's origins states clearly that she's "an Egyptian actress with a Syrian family background". Have you read your own sources? Of course, no one is asking that Hosny be identified as Syrian. But mentioning that her father was born in Syria, came from a Syrian family, etc., is necessary for a full profile of her. Where is the "original research" here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.48.19.204 (talk) 18:36, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I agree with the logic that "descent" doesn't neccessarily mean direct parents, but actually means that someone in her lineage is Syrian. It makes perfect sense to mention such descent, as is important to mention her Syrian uncle, who was also in show-business. Islamomt (talk) 20:13, 10 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
