Sophie Nélisse is not in Nelly
edit@Salvidrim!: Just a note regarding this edit: I saw Nelly this week and did not notice Sophie Nélisse in it. The role in question was played by Milya Corbeil-Gavreau [1]. Nélisse is not listed in the cast of the film on IMDb [2] or on the film's poster [3] or official web page [4]. Mathew5000 (talk) 09:00, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
- What happened here is that the article about Nelly was initially created based on the sources confirming its premiere at TIFF — but because the film hadn't actually premiered yet, not all of its own WP:SELFPUB promotional materials were up yet for reverification. Of the original sources, one of them contained the sentence "The film stars Mylène Mackay, who is one of TIFF’s Rising Stars this year, alongside fellow Quebec actress Sophie Nélisse" — it's now plainly evident that what the journalist meant to say was that Mackay and Nélisse were "Rising Stars" alongside each other but only Mackay was in that particular film, but as actually written the comma after "year" grammatically (see apposition) causes the sentence to say "The film stars Mylène Mackay and Sophie Nélisse, and Mackay is also one of TIFF's Rising Stars". The second comma grammatically turns "who is one of TIFF’s Rising Stars this year" into an "oh by the way" aside about Mackay alone, and causes "alongside fellow Quebec actress Sophie Nélisse" to function as a dependent clause of "the film stars Mylène Mackay" — to correctly convey the meaning the journalist actually intended, the sentence had to be rewritten without that comma. So thanks for the catch, but just to clarify the error occurred because of a bit of bad writing on the part of a source rather than because anybody's making random stuff up.
