editHi User:Kiwidan1,
I note that you have contributed some edits to Special Category Visa: e.g.
In particular I note the following dropped reference: "Section 204 of the Migration Act 1958 includes all SCV holders within the definition of 'permanent resident' on the basis they 'not subject to any limitation as to time imposed by law'."
c.f. http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/cth/consol_act/ma1958118/s204.html#permanent_resident
FYI: This section reads: MIGRATION ACT 1958 - SECT 204
- Determination of time for sections 201 and 202
- (1) ...
- (2) In section 201 and subsection 202(1):
- "permanent resident" means a person (including an Australian citizen) whose continued presence in Australia is not subject to any limitation as to time imposed by law, but does not include:
- (a) in relation to any period before 2 April 1984--a person who was, during that period, a prohibited immigrant within the meaning of this Act as in force at that time; or
- (b) in relation to any period starting on or after 2 April 1984 and ending on or before 19 December 1989--the person who was, during that period, a prohibited non-citizen within the meaning of this Act as in force in that period; or
- (c) in relation to any period starting on or after 20 December 1989 and ending before the commencement of section 7 of the Migration Reform Act 1992 --the person who was, during that period, an illegal entrant within the meaning of this Act as in force in that period; or
- (d) in relation to any later period--the person who is, during that later period, an unlawful non-citizen.
- (3) ...
Please cite better definition of "permanent resident" that - maybe - wikipedia could/should be using.
As an example of how much things have changed in Austrlia in the last 100 years here is a link about Emma Miller...
Here is an extract: "Emma Miller died in Toowoomba in 1917. Her body was brought back to Brisbane and laid to rest in Toowong Cemetery. The epitaph on her gravestone reads, “The world is my country; to do good is my religion“.

editHi User:Kiwidan1 & User:MeganLouLou,
I noticed that Kiwidan updated a several sections, then MeganLouLou prompty deleted them...
I'm thinking that it would be worth reverting page to edit No. 567918702 of 10 August 2013 to avoid any chance of conflict.
Important Note: this older 10th August page version is much more comprehensive information on the "Special Category Visa", but it makes no mention of the alternative "Resident Return visa (subclass 155 and 157)", e.g. "New Zealand citizens are eligible to apply for a Resident Return Visa (RRV) if they were in Australia prior to 1 September 1994." (Note: The ANZAC "instant PR on arrival" legacy was diluted as from 1 September 1994, during the terms of the 44th New Zealand Parliament & Keating Government.)
