I changed this:

The equation for finding SMYS is P * OD / (2 * T)

While it is possible to take Barlow's Formula, and solve for SMYS, it is not a sensible thing to do. The SMYS is an *input* into this formula, used for determining the MAOP. You cant take the MAOP and work backwards to determine the SMYS, because of uncertainty of the other terms. You might not know the Safety Factor used, for one reason. The only way to reliably determine the SMYS is to do testing of the exact materials. -- Bill Huston (talk) 03:03, 25 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
