Talk:Split-rail fence

The connections to the Nordic language sites have been removed. What they are in fact describing is a so-called roundpole fence - not a split-rail fence. --TTKK (talk) 07:27, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Does Mortise Fence even belong?

edit

The Mortise Fence section isn't a split-rail fence, as the description itself indicates. So why is it here?

Mortise fences are a form of post-and-rail fence, so while they might have split rails for the rail section, they explicitly have posts, which are almost never split logs; in fact, the picture aptly demonstrates this, and the use and construction of Mortise fences doesn't fit with the history and purposes of the Split-Rail Fence.

Mortise Fence section should actually be a one-liner reference to Pale Fences. That is, a note that the Mortise fence, despite having split-rails, is not a "split rail fence", but rather a "pale fence".

I'm working on making sure that the "Pale fence" refernce does NOT go to "palisade" (which is wrong), and have a whole new specific article on Pale Fences, as they're currently mis-classified under Palisade and stuff like this Mortise Fence should be there, not here.
