About the article title...

edit

So this kind of bugs me. The title of this article is Sport in India, but shouldn't it be Sports in India? Let me know if there's something wrong. TarantulaTM (speak with me) (my legacy) 17:41, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Nevermind, I just found out that there's a redirect. TarantulaTM (speak with me) (my legacy) 18:21, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Wracking, I wanted to briefly discuss your edit where you removed the "In popular culture" section. I feel that there ought to be some place on Wikipedia where we can collate the most notable Indian sports movies, since they are a significant part of the sports culture of the country. If not in this article, where could that content be placed? GreekApple123 (talk) 22:18, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi! As it existed, I personally think that section was a collection of indiscriminate and unsourced information, and as a list, does not convey very much information. (See MOS:TRIVIA.) As for your question, content like that may fit somewhere like Cinema of India, and there is also List of sports films. If the films are especially culturally relevant, they could instead be mentioned in this article in the section of the sport which they cover (but, as I mention below, sources are needed to establish this cultural relevance).
The majority of the list was unsourced, meaning the importance of these particular films (as opposed to all other Indian sports films) is unexplained and unsubstantiated. (For example, there are many films about cricket in India, but not all are the notable enough to mention here, in such a broad-scope article.)
I agree that it's important to cover the cultural impact of sports in India, but I don't think this section did that. Wracking talk! 23:00, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
