Talk:Squealer (Animal Farm)

Latest comment: 2 years ago by JArthur1984 in topic Vyacheslav Molotov

pigs are families of humans.

Squealer could well be Nikolai Krylenko, who was more of an official propagandist than Molotov. --Christofurio 04:27, 28 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Marx

edit

He cannot be Marx. If Marx was dead and all other characters alive then it just cant happen. (unsigned)

I'm removing that comment now; unless someone can provide a source.

Agreed; not to assume anything but I thought that Orwell had meant Old Major to represent Marx. Incidentally, can anyone find one of Squealer's confusing speeches? -Stephen (talk) 23:20, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gender

edit

Is (s)he male or female? He is referred to as "he," but it says later that Napoleon is the only boar on the farm. Heshy613 (talk) 21:09, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

It says that Napoleon is the only Berkshire boar, not the only boar. Squealer is most definitely a male. thatswhatsuptoo (talk)

British Version

edit

I think "british version" needs to be clarified. Prehaps that entire statement should be removed. I have the Penguin Modern Classics "version" which does not talk of Squealer on page 73 Dared111 (talk) 18:20, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

This needs to be taken out completely. Page numbers without publisher, edition, etc are useless and even having them displays ignorance. 98.121.92.169 (talk) 06:04, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Vyacheslav Molotov

edit

There's no source showing that Molotov was indeed the head of Communist propaganda. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JoeCool2020 (talkcontribs) 08:31, 11 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

There's no source for the notion that Squealer is based on Molotov. I've made some corrections by deleting this and the other unsourced statements about what the character is based on, or alludes to. JArthur1984 (talk) 21:28, 27 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
