  • This page seems largely lifted from the colleges website and other informational material. Perhaps some details can be filled in such as the names of important officials and the period for which they have been holding their tenure. For instance the list of principals since the college was established. A history section can also be created. --Gautambas 11:12, 30 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

I shall be reviewing this page against the Good Article criteria, following its nomination for Good Article status.

Overview

edit
  • The article is not very well written. There are errors of grammar and clumsy phrasing throughout. It would benefit from a thorough copy-edit, maybe with the assistance of the WP:Guild of copyeditors. Until that has happened, I won't go through it in detail.
  • The article appears thoroughly referenced, but there is an over reliance on primary sources.
  • The Academics section is rather too detailed, verging on promotional.
  • Information in many sections is rather unstructured, large numbers of sentences start with the phrase the college...'
  • The location map of the college should be added to the infobox.
  • I am putting this on hold for seven days for the copy-editing to be addressed. When that has happened, I will look at it in detail. Jezhotwells (talk) 18:52, 15 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have received the following note from the nominator on my talk page:

GA nomination of St. Xavier's College, Mumbai

edit

It's impossible to copyedit the article in a week. Please fail the article. Xavier449 (talk) 03:34, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Consequently, I shall fail this article at the present time. Please bring back to WP:GAN when you feel the issues above have been addressed. Or ask me to take a look when you thisnk that it is ready. Jezhotwells (talk) 11:28, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Autonomy

edit

Please note that, in spite of what the title of the article in ToI may suggest, St. Xavier's autonomous status is not the first time a college in Mumbai has been granted such a status by UGC. HR College of Commerce, Churchgate has this honor, though they relinquished this status later due to disagreements about the conditions imposed on them. Please cf. to references for clarifications. Please feel free to discuss.Pizzadeliveryboy (talk) 19:30, 4 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

what is "dislocation of administration"?

edit

'The imprisonment of German Jesuit priests during the First World War led to a dislocation of the administration, which was prevented by other European Jesuits.' Does this mean "relocation"? "Dissolution"? Closing of the school? And to say something "led to" it implies it happened, which is contradicted by what follows. What does this mean? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 01:01, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

In the last few days I have twice reverted edits by User:Reverbnation92 to remove links to bsfsos.com. This appears to be a social networking site, and it should not be included as a link. See Wikipedia:External links#Links normally to be avoided. Please discuss the issue here before adding similar links. Verbcatcher (talk) 19:53, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Picture of Joseph Michael Willi

edit

Joseph Michael Willi

It would be good to have a picture of Joseph Michael Willi. There is a poor-quality image on Commons (File:Joseph Willy (An-den-Toren-des-Ostens).jpg), but it is not good enough to add to this article. The picture appears to be of the frontispiece of this book:

  • Thüer, Karl (1933). An den Toren des Ostens Aus d. Leben d. Schweizermissionars P. Josef A. Willy S.J. (in German). Pullach [bei] München Berchmanskolleg. OCLC 72775808.

If you have access to this book then please scan the picture and post it to Wikimedia Commons. There might be a copy of the book in St. Xavier's College library. Verbcatcher (talk) 17:19, 14 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
