- ... that Stop AAPI Hate was formed in 2020 in response to increased racially motivated violence against Asian people, which now includes the Murder of Vicha Ratanapakdee? why does Stop AAPI Hate have a thing against republicans
editas seen in this link on page 3 in the link below it is clear that Stop AAPI Hate only reviewed republicans tweets and the article was wrote before the 2020 election. That wouldn't mean much but it does because Donald Trump was at the top of the list despite the fact that he wasn't the person who used the most Rhetoric in his tweets.

List of Asians murdered
editWhile St Anselem brings up a valid point that we can't have a list of every Asian murdered in the US I would still like to include some of the most central murders to the movement. Thoughts? Juno (talk) 05:17, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Juno, I agree with StAnselm that is best to not list "every Asian murdered in the US" on the Stop AAPI Hate article. The issue I have with adding selected killings, is that selecting victims adds an element of non-neutrality to the article, because an editor has to decided which killing should be included and which aren't notable enough. Very slippery slope with possible edit wars and so forth. I really think we should keep in mind the importance of keeping this a neutral article about the organization Stop AAPI Hate. Perhaps the solution is for you to create a page "List of AAPI persons killed beginning X date". You could then add in the "See Also" selection of "Stop AAPI Hate" a link to the list. That way you could keep your updates to one page to which there are multiple links. So at the bottom of the article for "Death of Mohammad Anwar" there would be a see also for the list. Any controversies surrounding inclusion/omission would be on the list talk page and not the "Stop AAPI Hate" talk page. It would also be a more collaborative space for the list. Does that seem like a solution? WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 15:39, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not sure such a list would survive AfD - in any case, it would far better to narrow the list to "Asian people" rather than AAPI. StAnselm (talk) 15:48, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks StAnselm. Do you foresee a list being nominated for AfD because it expresses an opinion or is not noteworthy? I am still learning about AfD and current events. I mostly write about dead artists. I absolutely defer to your judgement on the topic.WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 16:09, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- For not being noteworthy. It would be a huge list, and quite unmanageable. Perhaps a list of those murders deemed judicially to be hate crimes might work, however. StAnselm (talk) 16:21, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- See Category:Lists of murders. There are lists for American children and for transgender people. StAnselm (talk) 16:24, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. The example of the "List of people killed for being transgender" runs closest to what I had envisioned. I see that it is a contentious subject the same way that a "List of AAPI persons killed beginning X date" would be. The talk page shows clearly how problematic such a list would be. Given the points you make, it is not something I would want to take on, nor expect anyone else to. Not a good solution. Nevermind. WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 17:18, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

We could defer to sources. Some murders are documented by reliable sources as being a foundational motivator for the movement. Juno (talk) 04:38, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Should this page be protected?
editAnother Believer If you are watching this article, would you assist in reverting constant vandalism by IPs who are confused about the difference between "Stop AAPI Hate" and "Stop Asian Hate"? I just undid a bad merge. I think this page may be a candidate for some protection, but have no idea what the process is. Pinging StAnselm who may have some suggestions. Thanks WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 15:19, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Split some content to Stop Asian Hate
editI think there is some difference that's not captured here. The larger movement is usually called "Stop Asian Hate" and not "Stop AAPI".
The difference is the spontaneous movements that seems all unrelated and at some point got grouped together under the same umbrella.
Stop AAPI started before the Atlanta Asian shootings but Stop Asian Hate was spontaneously started in 2021 with that specific incident.
- 2600:1000:b16e:fb37:35b7:d833:da8:e00f this article isn't about Asian American activism. That is where information on the "Stop Asian Hate" movement and hashtag should be and I am changing that redirect. This article is about the non profit group Stop AAPI Hate which gathers data and compiles reports and needs this separate article. WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 16:53, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
Anti-Asian hate "as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic"?
editThe intro says "The organization was formed in 2020 in response to increased racially motivated violence against Asian people as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.". Is there really any solid base for the statement that the Anti-Asian hate crimes where mostly or predominantly caused by COVID-19 and not by other factors? Nordostsüdwest (talk) 19:05, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- Nordostsüdwest, Yes that fact is cited in the body of the article. Please read the cited article "Stop AAPI Hate Reporting Center: A Model of Collective Leadership and Community Advocacy" publishedin the Journal of Asian American Studies October 2020.
