The list completely omits non-American productions, such as the one listed above. What about the 1959 Polish movie "Orzel"? It's by all means a classic WW2 submarine movie, telling the story of ORP Orzel caught at sea when WW2 broke out, then interned at the neautral harbor of Tallin, eventually making a daring escape to Great Britain after navigating the entire Baltic sea with no maps no navigational equipment (confiscated at Tallin along with all weapons), then aiding the allied war effort until her mysterious loss at sea with all hands. And how about mentioning variant works related to submarine films, such as Nadia (不思議の海のナディア), a submarine combat themed animation series?

Sections and categories of films

The current sections seem unworkable to me. We start out categorizing films by when they were made; then we have a section for WWII films made after WWII, which seems pretty arbitrary to me; then it all falls apart. We've got a section for Korean War that only has one entry, a movie made during the Korean War but that takes place both before and during that war. I can't tell whether the Cold War section is supposed to be movies made during the Cold War (apparently not; we've got Phantom in there), about the Cold War (but then why is Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea in there?) or movies taking place during the Cold War (then why is there a separate section for Korean War?).

I think we should decide whether to list the movies chronologically by production or release date, or by subject matter, and stick to one or the other. Kendall-K1 (talk) 19:37, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

Chronological is easiest. The synopses can tell people what era each film is set in. Obviously submarine films influence later submarine films, regardless of the period each film is set in, so it's a better way to track the development of the genre. I agree it doesn't work very well in its current format, which is why I fiddled with it but maybe just scrap the current format altogether. Xfpisher (talk) 20:24, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
