Vehicle Spelling Error

edit

There appears to be a typo with regards to the spelling of Vehicle, but given that the typo is present twice, I'm unsure as to whether this is appropriate spelling within the context of the game (I haven't played it). Can anyone confirm this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.106.59.199 (talk) 13:53, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Below Zero

edit

The below zero page needs to be updated. The plot section has no writing in it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.232.199 (talk) 13:27, 17 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I think we should wait for the full release of the game in order to update the plot section of the page. Voidwalker04 (talk) 17:13, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Critical Reception section

edit

There has been a number of attempts to remove this section as "confusing" to people who don't understand the words "critical reception". Simply put, this isn't a reason to remove a section of the article that gives the game more notability. Many other articles, not just games, use this as a section to describe critics views on the subject at hand. RickinBaltimore (talk) 20:24, 6 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, no idea why this would be removed, everything is sourced (and I've removed the ref improve tag because of that), and relevant. Almost all articles about media have a critical reception section. — Strongjam (talk) 20:30, 6 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Not sure about the exact term "generally positive reviews", as reviews have been universally positive (at least according to Metacritic) with the lowest scored review being 75/100. To me "generally positive" implies that there are a small number of more negative reviews. 67.183.27.130 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 02:18, 18 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Massive Edits

edit

I should've said this when I performed the edit, but I've added masses onto the plot. It now includes all key points in the story, and updated release dates from the Trello page. And it has been reverted for being excessively long, which is contrary to our plot guidelines. — JJMC89(T·C) 18:55, 21 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Subnatica

edit

Can you please bring it out on Xbox one it's my dream to play PINCHANATOR (talk) 11:27, 12 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@PINCHANATOR It is on XBox One, and please dont leave questions for the developers here. Do that on their website. Also, this is a page about the article itself, not the topic of the article. --Skipper1931 (talk) 18:47, 6 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Plot

edit

I dont think that the plot needs to be shortened, as the games plot is decently detailed. --Skipper1931 (talk) 18:47, 6 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Controversy

edit

Sound designer for the game got fired https://kotaku.com/subnautica-dev-fired-over-hateful-statements-1822746373

This should be put in the article. along with other sources. --24.59.2.139 (talk) 18:03, 7 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Free photos

edit

With GDC there are two Subnautica session. One session ran today, with Jonas Boetel speaking. Free images of him can be found at [1] and thereabout in the GDC photosteam. Charlie Cleveland is to also talk tmorrow and I'd expect a few photos of him too. Mostly noting this as right now I can't get flickr2commons working. --Masem (t) 20:41, 19 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism

edit

I first noticed that the Development section incorrectly reported that the game was made in "Game Maker 2". I made an edit to correct that, however after looking at the history I noticed the user Jamesn456 had recently made the change (2 days ago). They also changed the name of the game's director to incorrect values in various parts of the page.

Perhaps someone with privileges could reverse the changes made by Jamesn456? Evildavo (talk) 03:08, 25 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Evildavo: Welcome to Wikipedia! I just restored the rest of the correct information and added a message to Jamesn456's talk page. Really, the beauty of Wikipedia is that anyone can do that, not just admins. I hope this helps; if you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask. Merger proposal

edit
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The result of this discussion was to oppose the merging of the articles. I didn't fully understand Below Zero, I do now, apologies! TGB13 (talk) 11:05, 15 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

I propose to merge Subnautica: Below Zero into Subnautica. I think that the content in the Below Zero article can easily be explained in the context of the Subnautica main page, and the Subnautica article is of a reasonable size that the merging of the pages will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned. A lot of the detail is repeated on both pages, the Below Zero DLC could be created in a new section on the Subnautica main page TGB13 (talk) 23:24, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose: Below Zero is not a DLC. It is a standalone game. OceanHok (talk) 06:02, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose: Separate game. Content, mechanics, story and development are different from the original game. Jarod (talk) 12:05, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose: The two games are different, with a new storyline and new mechanics. They also have many things that are different, and should stay as two separate pages. AlterraFedr (talk) 20:18, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose: Below Zero is its own game, as it has its own storyline, new creatures, tools, etc. and is sold as a separate game.Voidwalker04 (talk) 17:09, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose: While they may be very similar to each other and are set on the same planet, Subnautica: Below Zero is its own game. It contains a plethora of new content and environments when comparing it to Subnautica. Same concept applies here that applies to other video game franchises. (Call of Duty, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, The Sims) RandomHashTags (talk) 00:52, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose: BELOW ZERO IS A DIFFRENT GAME
  • Oppose: Below Zero seems like a separate game with a new environment, also passes the metacrtic test.
  • Oppose:Subnautica Below Zero seems like it would be more fit in its own category. It is also a game in a series.

Sunbeam

edit

I noticed that the plot doesn't contain anything about the Sunbeam. Maybe something should be added?

AlterraFedr (talk) 19:37, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@AlterraFedr:I believe that the plot should not go deeper into the story (we are not Subnautica Fandom) instead of a plot, we should give a synopsis. A good example is the Subnautica article from the Portuguese-speaking Wikipedia. You don't see anything about Sunbeam, nor about the $ 1 trillion debt. The article itself (that is, the article in English) is not so bad, but it has many details (spoilers) of the story, details that only those who played know.

Player/Ryley

edit

In the plot, should it say "Ryley", as the player is playing as Ryley, or does it just say "the player"? (Also, is it spelled Ryley or Riley?) AlterraFedr (talk) 18:57, 10 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it is spelled Ryley. This is an documentation wiki, not a game wiki to be consistently listing a characters name. We could mention that the players name is Ryley once, as that seems notable. 2601:248:580:6E0:3944:A1F4:9119:4C69 (talk) 01:55, 12 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Adding Degasi Description

edit

I am planning to add some more explanation to the Degasi crew and situation. Here is the possible edit before I put it in.

The Degasi was a Mongolian vessel owned by the Torgal Corporation, captained by Paul Torgal. Approximately a decade before the events of Subnautica, the Degasi was en route to a space station when it was shot down by the Quarantine Enforcement Platform upon entering Planet 4546B's orbit, leading to a crash landing on the planet.

Of the six crew members aboard, only three survived: Paul Torgal, his son Bart Torgal, and mercenary Marguerit Maida. They initially established a base on the Floating Island but relocated to the Jellyshroom Cave and later to the Deep Grand Reef due to environmental challenges and internal disagreements. Throughout their ordeal, they encountered the Kharaa Bacterium, leading to illness and further complications. Their story is pieced together through abandoned PDAs and seabases found by the player during exploration.

The Degasi's crash and the subsequent fate of its crew provide a significant subplot in Subnautica, offering players insight into the planet's dangers and the history preceding the Aurora's arrival. YeddaLin (talk) 16:49, 13 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
