General comments

Lead

• "As of July 2017, it is the largest commingled recycling facility in the United States" – I think July 2017 is now a tad out-of-date. The Sims website is not dated but suggests the facility is still the largest in the U.S. (and in fact, it states that it is the largest in North America).
  • It's a good point, but I'd rather not go by the superlatives claimed by the company itself. I found another source from last month which has this claim. It's quoting a company spokesperson, and appears to be a so-so industry site, but that still seems a little better than just citing the official site, I suppose. Importantly, I haven't seen any reason to doubt the claim.
    • Thanks for looking into this, I think the claim on the official site plus this newer secondary source in enough to substantiate the claim.  Done

• "The 11-acre property" – Use a convert template to also display area in metres squared.

• "The buildings are further raised above four feet of recycled glass and stone" – I was a bit confused reading this whether the buildings are raised a further four feet above the requirement to be resilient against rising water levels (i.e., eight feet in total)? Or are the buildings at the same level as the pier?

• "four feet of recycled glass and stone from the development of the Second Avenue Subway project" – Recommend this is amended to specify it's "glass and stone left over from the development..."

• "The administrative building includes an education center which includes exhibits explaining how the plant operates for student and tour groups and connects to the main processing building for public viewing via elevated pedestrian walkway." – Sentence is a bit long and difficult to follow. I suggest splitting it into two.

What happens to materials once they've been processed?

The article misses a very important aspect of the process. It discusses material brought in but leaves the reader hanging as to how it goes out and to where ("mostly by train") Djflem (talk) 20:47, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

This is a good point. I'm curious to know the answer to where all the materials go. I read that the recycled paper goes to the Visy Industry plant on Staten Island. Thanks for bringing this up and I hope the information can be found and added to the article. --Wil540 art (talk) 11:48, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
