Wii SMASH FILES
Does someone have a list of the Smach files listed in Nintendo Power? I only know the 9th which is Fox. Sora3087 22:54, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Number 1 Was Solid Snake and Number 2 Was Mario. I also know pit and Link were also Super Smash Files.ATRUEZELDAFAN 15:44, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Pikachu and Meta Knight were also in, and I believe Samus may have been. I assume that Fox was the last, and next month there will be none or they'll reveal another.
I have the Smash files and the order is: 1) Snake 2) Mario 3) Pit 4) Kirby 5)Wario 6)Pikachu 7)Meta Knight 8)Link 9)Fox so the only on missing now is Samus. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.4.211.195 (talk • contribs)
In the last NP, they just released the Smash file for Samus. 70.130.216.144 03:37, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Hopefully they'll reveal a new character in the next issue rather than just ending the files all together, I really look forward to those each month :)
Me too the latest one, Samus Aran, seemed to be a filler for Zero Suit Samus because no others were announced. Martini833 20:09, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
You can see all the Smash Profiles here.--YOSHIANDLINK1 00:39, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Nintendojo
Apparently a site called "Nintendojo" just caught wind of that stupid Young-Link-replaced-by-Young-Link rumor and posted it as though it was the latest news today. You have been warned. --HeroicJay 20:51, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- REALLY... Well, could someone post a link to it here for everyone's reference, then? It might be necessary. And I assume you meant Young Link replaced by cel-shaded Windwaker Link. ;-) Erik Jensen (Appreciate|Laugh At) 21:31, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- I said what I meant, though your description works too. Anyway, here is a link to the re-re-re-re-return of the rumor. Of course, the only source they give is that French article from last June. --HeroicJay 21:47, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
And is the French article not credible? GSwarthout 22:33, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- It was deemed not credible a long time ago. Its date was last June - before Fox was officially confirmed - gives no evidence of its assertions, and Nintendo has yet to do a single thing to give any credence. There's also been no evidence yet provided that the radio show Sakurai allegedly revealed the information on even exists. --HeroicJay 22:39, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. It would not have taken anywhere near this long to find independent confirmation of the radio interview if it was real. --69.156.207.34 18:35, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Super Smash Brawl Chracter Additions
okay i have an artcile, legitamte, on new details about some charcters http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3151290
Apparently, Masashiro Sakurai announced that Bowser Jr, the "Celda" (windwaker) version of Link, and Ridely (archenmies of Samus) will be in Wii Brawl Game. Also learned is that the Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, and Young Link are not returning . Sakuri also stated he wanted to have at least 40 characters, with 1-2 more third party characters added. Nebfootball7 02:59, 6 March 2007 (UTC)nebfootball7 March 5, 2007 9:59 EST
- We have received this information before, and in truth it's a rumor. BassxForte 03:05, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- Why does no one ever bother to look closely at news. Other then the fact it's been discussed here, did you see the date of that newspost? JackSparrow Ninja 03:41, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
- I hope that rumor's not true except for the additions. It'd be pretty cool to have the Windwaker Link and Ridley. 10:23, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- You listed 1up as a reliable source, that's very wrong. More Wrong than Mushroom Kingdom Hearts. Mavrickindigo 01:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
That rumor has been around for a while. It's probably not true. I don't what to think on the issue of characters from Melee not returning. When Sakurai said not everyone will be returning to Brawl might mean that all characters will be returning but not all of them will have the same moveset. Ganondorf might be a completely new character instead of a clone of Falcon. On the other hand, I could see Sakurai wanting to leave a few characters out to make Melee unique to the Smash Bros. Series because it was the only game to have these characters instead of it just being "how Smash Bros was during that time." User:Zojo 13:12, 30 March 2007
First, it is not right to state such thing of having new characters. We need to wait for Nintendo to confirm them(altough, I hope they have an option on having to change a character's appereance, such as changing Young Link from OoT to Young Link from Wind Waker). But, I confirm to you guys that Sonic will be a playable character. Don't worry, I have my resources. If you see the Brawl's official website, you click on any language and it will come a huge photo of Mario, Link, Pikachu, and Pit. But watch closely on the right side of the photo and you will find a different tend of blue with the shape of one of Sonic's spines. I don't know but this would affect combat functionality, multi-playing, and single-playing combat, changing to five people at the same time. Mr. Mario 192 17:40, 19 April 2007
Right and I am Spider-manAnubiz 00:02, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
And I am the Eggman (E.G.G.M.A.N. is my favorite SA2 character theme). Really, I doubt they'll allow more than 4 players at a time (except maybe in this game's version of the wire frames/polygons team battle). --LuigiManiac 00:08, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Right thay will stick to 4 fighters most likley. (Eggman can you help me with my page?)Anubiz 00:22, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
I know it looks impossible, but if you see 5 characters on the same stage at the same time, then this proves it can support 5 characters. Mr. Mario 192 17:32, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
"Great Fray"?
I didn't see any discussion or source for the change from "Great Battle Smash Brothers" to "Great Fray Smash Brothers". Is it an obvious enough change and I'm just missing something? They seem functionally similar to me (correct me if I'm wrong on this), with "Battle" sounding better subjectively. EpsilonZ 14:09, 6 March 2007 (UTC) They're completely synonymous. I don't know why it was ever changed. My guess is that someone put it through babelfish, which makes it "great fray", but babelfish is not a very good translater. 199.126.137.209 18:43, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Pikachu lies, more lies and damn lies!
This was covered before here, but it seems someone has changed it yet again. Although Pikachu has appeared in every *major* Pokémon game so far, he (it?) hasn't appeared "in every Pokémon video game made to date". As the aforementioned link... mentions... There were several e-Reader and Pokémon mini games that did not include Pikachu. 71.124.42.16 06:15, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Does anyone care?...
- Well, this detail instantly requires us to change the sentence into "Pikachu has appeared in just about every Pokémon video game made to date". A minor necessity, IMO. Erik Jensen (Appreciate|Laugh At) 18:43, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- If you can even consider the e-Reader and Pokémon mini games to be real games to begin with. - DisasterKirby 18:55, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Regardless if *you* feel that the e-Reader and mini games are "real", they are, in fact, quite real (and some of the e-Reader ones are actually pretty fun). I don't think it's a big deal or anything, but I do think this particular line would be better phrased "Pikachu has appeared in every major Pokémon video game made to date." - just to be accurate. That is what we strive for, n'est ce-pas? 71.124.42.16 03:31, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- I second that. The e-reader games and minigames are not canon, so they should not be considered. "Major" Games is a good alternative. Quatreryukami 13:14, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Merging
Release Date Information from the 2007 Game Developers Conference
When Nintendo announced its second quarter game release schedule at the 2007 Game Developers Conference, Super Smash Brothers Brawl was not included indicating it will not be released until at least quarter three 2007. Nintendo also indicated that the first North American game to utilize the Wii's internet functionality would be Pokemon Battle Revolution. Nintendo has long asserted that it intends to incorporate internet play into Super Smash Brothers Brawl. As a result, Brawl will not be released before Battle Revolution which is currently set to reach North American shelves on June 25.° The exact release date, however, remains open to speculation.

Ganondorf at IMDB
It has been announced at IDMB that Ganondorf will appear in SSBB. Also it has been stated by Takashi Nagasako (the voice of Ganondorf in SSBM) that he has been asked to voice him again in Brawl.

Sonic subsection?
With all that "Sonic talk" from the media, etc should there be a subsection or at least the use of this:
- Sonic references
There is (or was the last time I checked) a lot just about him. Should that information on him even stay there or be deleted? Should it stay the way it is (or was the last time I checked) unless he is announced? FMF|contact 22:28, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
- It's Brawl related, so it should stay. But I do agree on the subsection idea.
EDIT: My other suggestions are "Sonic Rumors" or something like. By the way, when has this become an issue? It wasn't an issue before, so why is it now? magiciandude 22:37, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

- I take that back, I changed it into a subsection of inclusion of characters and just named Sonic the Hedgehog just to make it simple. Sorry for all the edits that are deemed unneccessary, I just wanted to avoid a possible arguement making the solution to the problem a lot easier. Thanks again for the suggestion FMF. magiciandude 23:26, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Hey, with the new game 'Sonic and Mario At the Olympics' being announced, Sonic's chances for appearing in this game might prove better than expected...
If Sonic appears, he MUST be voiced by Ryan Drummond again, no matter what. Try and contact those who would put the game in English about this voice acting, and also contact that company to never allow Jason Griffin (or whatever his name is) to voice Sonic in this game.
I find a problem with the last sentance from Nintendo Europe President. It shouldn't be included or changed because it implies that Sonic may not be in Brawl, when in reality he couldn't discuss the subject, only the subject of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games.
Or maybe he was going from cards with answers to probable questions on them. He didn't think the brawl would come up. So maybe he literally didn't have it in the cardsAnubiz 17:19, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
I have proof that Sonic is on Brawl. First, you go to the SSBB's website and click on any language. The, it is gonna come a huge photo with Mario, Link, Pikachu, and Pit. Could Miyamoto want Sonic because of this?
This article was posted two years, but it talks about Naka talking with Miyamoto about making a game with Mario and Sonic in it. [5] I'm currently searching in the Internet to see what the "secret conversation" was. magiciandude 16:58, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

It might've been Sonic and Mario at the Olympic games, which has just recently been announced. I doubt it was the game you heard about if the article was two years ago. I doubt the game was even in thought way back then.
Halberd image
This is totally trivial, but at this point only trivial matters remain to be discussed about this article, pretty much. The image of the Halberd was taken off the smashbros site, and as of recently the Upload File screen states "Do not upload files from websites or an image search engine. They will be deleted." Assuming it's better to take snapshots of trailers ourselves and upload them in fair-use website images' places, does anyone think it's better if there's an image of the Halberd stage as it was seen near the end of the second trailer, with the other characters like Snake and Zero Suit Samus battling on it and the Halberd ship flying off to the right in the background? Mario and Sonic in The Olympic Games
I added some info on this, the game has spurred much interest about Sonic being a character on SSBB, much more than any previous quotes. Many fans think it is a positive sign for Sonic being in the game. But it was removed and labelled vandalism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Super_Smash_Bros._Brawl&diff=118531528&oldid=118514427
I really think this is worth including, it's a far more positive sign for Sonic being in the game than any previous info. Doesn't everyone think it should be included? My description may have been a bit vague, but regardless, calling it vandalism is definately harsh. I'm not 14 years old.Philtrauferson 15:55, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Well considering that "Mario and Sonic in the Olympic Games" is entirely fictional (unless you have any real proof on it), I'd say that it was labeled accordingly.- DisasterKirby 15:59, 28 March 2007 (UTC)- Um, okay, maybe it isn't fictional. My bad. - DisasterKirby 16:43, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, until this becomes more clear, I say delete every mention of it, until we have a consensus of what this means~sdhonda
Heh, no hard feelings DisasterKirby. It seems like a pretty strange idea for a game, I can see why you thought it was fake. I think that this collaboration shows that Nintendo and Sega are willing to discuss, and have been discussing putting Sonic with Nintendo characters. Combined with fact that Sonic in SSBB is heavily desired by fans, I see no reason why Sega nor Nintendo would stop him being there. I think it's worth a mention at least, but if that's not the majority vote I don't mind. It's not that important. Philtrauferson 18:49, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- I am shocked! Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is an actual game being developed for Wii... Well then, as per verifiability guidelines, let's not even mention it in this article unless Sakurai makes mention of it on his Dojo site or something. Erik Jensen (Appreciate|Laugh At) 18:59, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Would a note at the end of the Sonic section specifying against adding speculation based on this game be of some need? Someone has already tried to add the info again, and we all know that it'll happen at least a few more times... - DisasterKirby 00:52, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
It is not worth mentioning because they have not said anything about Brawl. Not only that, but maybe they are making that game because it's possible that Sonic isn't appearing at this game at all and they are making it up for the fans. I'm not saying that's the case (in fact, I, myself, don't want that to be the situation), but who knows? magiciandude 02:38, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, some quotes for the game do imply that this will be Sonic and Mario's first game together. If Sonic was going to appear in Brawl (which, hopefully, will be coming out sooner than the Holiday season) they might have worded things a bit differently. Not to say that this is absolute proof of anything, but the thought does come to mind... Inkmonkeywoodis 12:15, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Well! As magiciandude has illustrated, when a subject like this olympic game occurs and can be interpreted in opposite ways (Sonic in Olympics means Sonic in Brawl! vs. Sonic in Olympics means Sonic is not in Brawl!), it's all the more reason not to mention it as part of the article. Observation in Stages
Can we add things we see in the official trailers for the game. Sonic "not in the cards right now" ?!
Wow...what do you guys make of this? Is Sega and Nintendo compensating for Sonic not being in Brawl by making the Olympic game? Or are they just trying to keep a secret? I had no doubt that Sonic would be included in Brawl, but now...ehh...the jury's out. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zojo (talk • contribs) 14:05, 30 March 2007 (UTC). By the by, if this is too much like forum talk and you all don't consider this a forum, sorry for question. You guys are...uhh...smarter than most people in forums.
- I was of the same mindset that the evidence was ultra-strong for Sonic being in Brawl. However, the statement that Sonic is "not in the cards right now" and that they "haven't even started to think about" any more games containing both Sonic and Mario makes it sound pretty clear that it's not happening. I know some fans have debated what was meant by this point, but I feel it's just wishful thinking. The meaning is incredibly clear. The only possible point of contention is that, well, we're talking about a big cheese at Nintendo's Europe division. Maybe he doesn't know the full story that Japan knows. --Bishop2 14:09, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
You're probably right. Just wishful thinking at this point. It's still a shock, though. I thought the only way Sonic would not be in Brawl is if someone at Sega strongly protested this or if they just made the descision on including the hedgehog too late in production. --User:Zojo 12:50, 30 March 2007
- Well, now there's a new interview about Mario & Sonic at the Olympics which once again implies that Sonic may INDEED be in Brawl... should we figure out a way to work this into the sonic section? http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=15630 - --Bishop2 22:33, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- My guess is that Sakurai doesn't want neither Nintendo or Sega to say anything about Sonic being in Brawl as they would be Brawl news, and I think he wants to release some more Brawl news on the day he feels he's ready. magiciandude 22:45, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- Interesting...that does make me think Sonic might be in Brawl. George Harrison says "he can't really comment on any sort of hidden characters in Smash Bros at this point." It sort of sounds like he's trying to keep quiet by saying "any sort of characters" but basically reveals he knows something by saying "at this point." It could be he can't reveal Sonic as character now, but when he gets Sakurai's OK, he can say that Sonic is a character. Would it be okay if I added that Link would be holding the Master Sword in his left hand, as opposed to the Wii version of Twilight Princess, or would it not matter? Lightwing1988 03:08, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- The only reason he appears right-handed in the Wii version of TP is because the entire map and all the characters were mirrored, so unless Brawl is going to be flipped at the last second, it doesn't seem all that relevant to me. --Sparky Lurkdragon 03:20, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Third-party characters
How does it work when a third-party company throws their character in Brawl? For example, what's in it for Konami when Nintendo puts Snake in Brawl? Does Konami get a very small profit of game sales or does Nintendo pay a small fee for using Snake? Or does Konami get nothing except the pleasure of having their character in one of the most awesome games ever? How does it work? User:Zojo 13:20, 1 April 2007

- Yeah... if only Wikipedia were so obvious about sig syntax a year and a half ago. During my first half-year on Wikipedia starting in October 2005, I did not know how to provide a signature like everyone else, and there was NO instruction on it anywhere that I could find, so I had to custom-craft my sigs. - There are generally licensing fees. However, one major aspect is promotions. By having such characters in Brawl, it could not only boost Brawl's sales, but also promote the series that character is from. --Ultima 04:11, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Wario
I've got two suggestions for Wario. First, and this one is pretty minor, but can we mention that in addition to Wario sporting his biker costume from Warioware, should we add he has a...uh...design on his back that shows the Warioware bomb, I believe, and says "HURRY UP." Second, I don't see any dancing inspired by Warioware in the Nintendo Worl Trailer. I do see his quick exaggerated moveset which is reminiscent of the Wario Land games. Of course, I could just be blind and not see the dancing. I don't know, I just wanted to throw those two suggestions out there. (Zojo 14:10, 3 April 2007 (UTC))

character gernres
It is odvious but im am still saying it. There are genres from which the fighters are from. From memory I can at least say a couple : Nintendos super stars ( Mario, link Samus ect.) Nintedos recuring stars ( Kirby , Foz, captain falcon)
then, the SNES to NES characters (pit, ice climbers ness MR.Game @ watch) Then odviously third party characters ( Snake, sonic=unkown, Viewtiful joe=unknown. This also works with the levels to. I feel my idea of the "genres" should be on the smb wikipedia page. p.s. IT SHOULD ALSO BE CONSIDERED THE POSIBILITY TO PLAY AS MIIS AND DS CONECTIVITY. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.14.49.103 (talk) 21:42, 3 April 2007 (UTC).
We've already said that we won't be posting speculation on this page, so we won't mention about Miis. BassxForte 22:27, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Also, please work on your spelling. BassxForte 02:26, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Well if the genres are not objected to, then i will add it
What distinguishes a Super Star from a Recurring Star? Nintendo's longest serieses (Um) would be Mario and Zelda, followed probably by Kirby. The biggest money-makers are, if I recall, Mario, Donkey Kong, and Pokemon in that order. If your genres made any sense, they could potentially be added, but they don't actually mean anything more than your arbitrary grouping of them.--72.138.133.124 01:09, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
i'm pretty sure the LoZ series tops the DK series. also, this section is pretty much pointless. there's first party (Mario, Link, Samus), second party (Kirby, DK), and now third party (only Snake is CONFIRMED). otherwise, there's not really any categories we can put characters in. FyreNWater 01:40, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
My form of genres are based how many games are sold on a generation and there general popularity while others are based on basic similarities. Games like metroid, zelda and mario are odviously superstars. Besides, this is only a small general summ, I left out other characters but we can all agree mario, zelda and metroid are super stars (they make more games then say starfox per generation.) Any way this is how i see it. If you have sugetions to character genres, I would like to here them. p.s. How the hell is DK a second party character? he was in the freaking Donkey kong !!!!! Defining ALLL the characters by genres is to vague.
Why would the article have any need to have the characters separated by popularity? All of the characters' respective series are popular in their own right, just... some more than others. Either way, something such as this is rather unnecessary. (Also Donkey Kong is a first-party character.) Disaster Kirby 01:24, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Recent 6-second trailer-ish SSBB clip
I didn't see this discussed anywhere else on this talk page, so I though I'd bring it up down here. Apparently there's a video clip showing a tiny bit of new footage from SSBB. Should this be mentioned at all in the article? Erik Jensen (Appreciate|Laugh At) 21:50, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Don't see it showing us new features or new characters, so it probably isn't notable enough. BassxForte 22:28, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I figured. The only thing remotely new-ish about it is about Pikachu at the end, who is seen rolling off a platform and falling to the ground below - you can't do that in Melee. Erik Jensen (Appreciate|Laugh At) 01:16, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
That's not new footage, just short clips from the first two trailers stitched together in a different order. Watch the 2nd trailer again, you'll see. Powerslave (talk-contribs) 03:24, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm aware that there's reused footage in there as part of the clip, but I don't see the last scene with Pikachu's rolling trick anywhere in the second trailer, and the first shot with Link swinging his sword and the shot revolving around Wario certainly look new as well. Watching the 2nd trailer again and comparing it with this clip kinda proved that to me.
- Of course, the clip is pretty much so insubstantial that it might as well not be considered new footage at all, so there should probably be no mention of it in the article anyway. Erik Jensen (Appreciate|Laugh At) 17:59, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- Even if it's new footage, does it provide any new information? Does it tell us anything that could be added to the article? If not, it's not notable.--Viridistalk|contributions 18:24, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Games recuring themes.
This is proably not that important but.... at the start of smb (n64) opening, a white glove appears holding a nintendo character doll that comes to life. In smbm (game cube)a random hand throws a mario statue ( and a link statue-kirby and pikachu are not scene trasforming-.) that come to life (any one see the pattern ?) First of all should this be worth mentioning and secodly, if this trend follows will it be seen in "smabs" and if so what will the "toys " be? models? 6 inch figure? (smabs is my nickname for it , I got it from the smash dojo when smash is metioned in brakets as smabureken)
What could this toy be? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.64.67.94 (talk) 14:38, 6 April 2007 (UTC).
In my opinion, it's probably not necessary in the article (especially since it scrapes against the "No Original Research" rule). Just thought I'd say it kindly before someone bites. For all we know, the creators might completely forget about that toy-into-fighter theme Powerslave (talk-contribs) 01:44, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Other Characters
Samus Aran's greatest rival will be joining the Super Smash Brothers Brawl roster, as well as pint-sized versions of Mario's most formidable foe and Hyrule's Hero of Time.
SSBB director Masashiro Sakurai made the announcement via Japanese radio program "The Gaming Show" that Metroid mega-boss Ridley, Bowser Jr. and the Wind Waker version of Link have been added as new members to the Super Smash Brothers Brawl combatant list. The newly added triad join the other first-timers making an appearance in the Nintendo brawler-- Metal Gear Solid hero Solid Snake, Meta Knight, Wario, and Zero Suit Samus.
Getting the boot with this iteration of the Super Smash Brothers series are Young Link, the Ice Climbers, and Mr. Game and Watch. Sakurai expects a roster of 40 characters to fill the game, with other non-Nintendo characters joining the fray still a possibility.

Characters That Are Exclusive in Two Countries/Continents
I know this isn't a forum, but I think this discussion I'm about to talk about might be necessary for this article. I noticed that not only Japan-Only, America-Only, and Europe-Only characters matter, but also characters that appeared in titles released only in two countries or continents. Ness from MOTHER 2/EarthBound (SNES) is a good example. He was the last character to unlock in Super Smash Bros. for N64, because he appeared in a title released only in Japan and America. He is the only character in SSB and SSBM that appeared in a title released in only two countries or continents. I know Sakurai didn't mention this, but do characters from titles released only in two countries/continents count as worldwide characters? Parrothead1983 18:50, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see the point of this I mean we have Marth and Roy I not sure what the question is. Marioman12 05:22, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- Did you read my question? Marth and Roy are examples of Japan-Only characters. Here are more examples of two-country/continent characters:
- Mike Jones (StarTropics) (North America and Europe; Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II was only released in North America)
- Geno and Mallow (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars) (Japan and North America)
- Doshin and Jashin (Doshin the Giant) (Japan and Europe)
- Kururin (Kuru Kuru Kururin) (Japan and Europe; sequels only released in Japan)
- Alice (Balloon Kid - North America; Balloon Fight GB - Japan)
- Saki Amamiya (Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth) (Japan for the N64, and China for the iQue)
- Mr. Stevenson (Gumshoe) (North America and Europe)
- Characters from Custom Robo: Battle Revolution and Custom Robo Arena (Japan and North America)
- That's about all I could think of. Parrothead1983 23:35, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm also not sure what your question is. Could you elaborate what you think is special about characters being from certain countries or only being released in certain countries?--Viridistalk|contributions 05:40, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Only being released in certain countries/continents. Some trophies from Melee say they are Japan-Only, but they are actually Japan and Europe only. For examples, Tamagon from Devil World, Love Giant and Hate Giant from Doshin the Giant, and Heririn from Kuru Kuru Kururin. I'm going to repeat my first question, while I'll ask another question: Do characters from titles released only in two countries/continents count as worldwide characters? And why doesn't this discussion make any sense? I thought I gave everything it needs. Parrothead1983 16:09, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Did you read my question? Marth and Roy are examples of Japan-Only characters. Here are more examples of two-country/continent characters:
The thing that most confuses me is why you're asking people here. The only person who truly knows the answer is Sakurai, as he is the one who has made the comment on wanting characters popular around the world. I'd say that characters from games not released in all major areas do not count as world wide characters as they clearly are not popular in the all the regions that Nintendo's influence extends to. But my, and anyone else here's opinion on the matter won't contribute much to the article. 199.126.137.209 22:02, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Solid/Naked Snake
Has anyone ever noticed that Snake in SSBB is actually Naked Snake from Metal Gear Solid 3 but with Solid Snake's suit from Metal Gear Solid 2? The first trailer said "Newcomer: Snake" and I don't believe the the article should have him as being "Solid Snake". Frumfst 05:34, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- There's alot of reasons why I disagree. The best one would be the first Brawl trailer depicting Snake talking to the Campbell from Solid Snake's era, which pretty much confirms it's Solid Snake. - Zero1328 Talk? 11:34, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- That doesn't show why he looks like Naked Snake. I agree totally with you that almost everything about Snake pertains to Solid Snake, but that fact that he looks like Naked Snake makes it a TIME PARADOX! (sorry, couldn't resist) Frumfst 16:58, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Can you give me some better proof regarding Snake's identity? Like, some pictures we can compare? BassxForte 13:17, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- SSBB Snake: http://www.smashbros.com/en/characters/chara5/img/photo_l1.jpg
- Naked Snake: http://solidsnake19148.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/boss.jpg
- Solid Snake: http://webzoom.freewebs.com/outerheavenresistance/Gear%20Site%20pics/SOLID%20SNAKE%20COLLAGE.jpg (The top right picture is Solid Snake in MGS2 and the middle picture is Solid Snake in MGS1) There is a much better resemblance between SSBB Snake and Naked Snake. Frumfst 16:58, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- It's Solid Snake, it's hard to see at times, but you can see in the Tanker chapter of MGS2 that he's unshaven, making him look more like Naked Snake. This is the best picture I could find. [7] Also, they could've reused the MGS3 model and redid his MGS2 clothes because the MGS3 model was better quality then the one that appeared in MGS2, and they look simmilar enough. It's alot easier to tell based on the MGS2 promotional art though. [8] Takuthehedgehog 20:13, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- You should also be aware that (looking at the MGS games)Solid and Naked Snake are physically identical. Just because he has an unshaven beard does not mean it's Naked Snake. They both have beards, they both look identical. Which is exactly why it's very, very obvious from just looking at his clothes. Thats why the MGS3 model can be used to depict Solid Snake. - Zero1328 Talk? 21:57, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- I never said anywhere that my only logic is that because SSBB snake has a beard, he has to be Naked Snake. I know that MGS2 Snake has a beard (unless you give him the shaver) but there are features that make it so that you can see who is who instantly. You can't say that since Solid Snake is a clone, he looks exactly like Naked Snake/Big Boss. Solid Snake only has the recessive genes of Big Boss and therefore will have different features. To make this shorter, Solid Snake and Naked Snake, to me, don't look the same, beard or no beard. Frumfst 01:39, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- (Actually, Solid Snake has the dominant genes. Liquid Snake has the recessive genes, which is why he looks more different.) To me, Solid and Naked Snake were intentionally made identical. The only difference between MGS2 and MGS3 is a higher quality model. - Zero1328 Talk? 22:22, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Ditto everything Zero just said, they are physically identical, the model is most likely reused from MGS3, but that doesn't make it solid or naked snake necessarily, it is assumed that he is solid snake, however as far as all official sources go (website/trailer) he is only mentioned simply as "Snake", perhaps all mentions of him in the article should be reduced to only say "Snake". Minirogue 23:09, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Tsk, tsk, tsk Zero, I started to think that you knew a lot about Metal Gear Solid but alas, you don't. Solid Snake has the recessive genes. Liquid snake thought he had the recessive genes and that's why he hated Snake so much. It is learned later, after Liquid's "death" that Solid Snake was the actual clone with the recessive genes and Liquid had the dominate genes. Here is a site to the game script [9], if you Ctrl+F and type "The inferior one" (without quotes) and there you will find out that Solid Snake has the recessive genes. And Minirouge, that was what I was trying to get at in the first place, have him be called "Snake". Thank you. (no sarcasm) Frumfst 05:55, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
- Um, just because he has the dominant genes doesn't mean he is the superior clone, and vice versa. Genes mainly determine the characteristics of the person, it doesn't mean the quality of the clone is good. Anyway, this is starting to deviate from the subject... - Zero1328 Talk? 06:37, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I know that but Liquid thought he was inferior because he got the recessive genes. I know it doesn't make sense but in Liquid's mind it did and Ocelot was with him during his compalining. In this sense Inferior=recessive and superior=dominant. Instead of this bickering on both of our parts, let's talk about the true topic. Should the Solid Snake seciton be changed to just Snake since all official sources just say Snake? There are things that make him more like Solid Snake from his clothing and PPK combo and there are things that make him more like Naked Snake like the RPG and the FOX logo. Frumfst 23:26, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
- Just because he isn't referred to by his full name doesn't mean it's unknown. Everyone outside and ingame usually just calls him "Snake". I think it's very, very obvious that it's Solid Snake. Clothing, Snake's stage, the use of the Codec, Snake talking to Campbell. It's clearly depicting Solid Snake. Unsourced, but obvious enough that it doesn't need one. I can only speculate on why the RPG-7 and FOX logo is used; the design of the RPG-7 is identified easily while Stingers are not, and since Snake is representing Kojima Productions, their logo is used. - Zero1328 Talk? 14:09, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- I understand everything that you are saying and I have come to the conclusion that I cannot, under any circumstances at this point, change your opinion. Just about everyone that I talk to at my school say that say that he look much more like Naked Snake than Solid Snake. That is one of the main reasons why I continued to argue. Despite your arguments, I still believe that there are characteristics of both and the only way I will change, or keep, my position is when more information is realeased. If nobody objects, then we'll keep the article the way it is. I'm done arguing, I'm done wasting space, and I'm done wasting yours and my time. This is that last thing I'm going to say in this section: When the game is released and it is Naked Snake, I won't make an "I told you so" comment. Frumfst 20:49, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Peach isn't going to be in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and neither is Princess Zelda. I'm pretty sure that there would need to be Diddy Kong, an unlockable character, which he was added to the Mario franchise in sports in 2003. --PJ Pete
- Pete, unless you have valid sources, it's all just speculation. my doubts they would drop two and a half (Zelda/Sheik) characters, especially female characters. whittling away at them is sure to piss off quite a few people. FyreNWater 07:44, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Peach most likely will be in Brawl, however we do not know for shure. So we can't pute her in the page untill we do know.Anubiz 15:22, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
I made the above statement that was a "tad harsh." I was saying that to people who thought Peach wasn't going to be in Brawl. But, you're right, it was a personal attack nontheless and for that I apologize (Zojo 01:05, 21 April 2007 (UTC))

There is no mention on ESRB's website of brawl at all. Minirogue 20:11, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
To be fair, the n64 game was more violent(thanks to the skeletons)
- It really has no point. The rating is only changed through the climb or decline of violence or adult manner. The game (Melee) had more violence, as compared to the original SSB, because the characters were presented more realistically, with more realistic weapons, and more realistic stages. That is why the original SSB was not classified as a T ranking. Latteran 17:29, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Your telling me the green laser gun is realistic? I honestly dont see how you see it, but if you are correct, than ssmb will be rated m.Also in smb (cubed) when it comes to sword ish weapons, the characters are never seen hit. They just do a animation that shows them in pain. Any way, the n64 game is more violent (but barely). THE NEW GAME NEEDS THE SKELETONS, BOWLING BALL SMASHES (and the cool entries from the first game-fzero,arig,pipe ect- but that proably wont happen.)
Just speculated, what if they dont show blood flying around, but it shows there costume more damaged every time they get hit? If they do show blood, it wont be like mk but proably , they would be covered in bruises and a little blood..
remember people, this isn't a forum. please don't make it one. FyreNWater 03:14, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Even if it isn't, the only reason the previous game was rated Teen was that it was way back BEFORE the E10+ rating was created. 24.176.25.193 22:33, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
The 28 levels of power = expanded !!!
In case anyone has noticed, there are 28 levels of difficulty. The 1 to 9 bar at the bottom of cp's charater select ( average player if you play at this level) then 9 to 18 . The extra 9(9+9=18) difficulty is added from the handicap screen plus the enemies current level (very advanced ) and , the newly discovered extra 10 , the hit ratio that goes from 1.0 to 2.0 (1.1, 1.2 ect)plus the preiviously mentioned factors and those that fight at this level are smash masters.
There is a possibility that in the new smash, new factors could extend this difficulty to say 60 or 70 (WoW). This is away to seperate the smash saps from the smash masters.

Release
I'm really getting sick of this, let me make this clear, if you desire to say a certain date is the release date for this game, you must (as in without question, no agrument, no excuses) give a source that has Nintendo stating that it is the correct release date, stores tend to make placeholder dates that, therefore, cannot be trusted. BassxForte 22:45, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- that's right. and sign your posts with four ~. Super Smash Bros. Brawl King 21:25, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
In my opinion... the most resonable release date for the game would be late summer or early fall, but since Nintendo hasn't even hinted at that it would be original research, and thus my opinion shall not be expressed in the article. BassxForte 00:35, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- Information can always be presented even if it is not 100% valid. Such as putting a release date in a format where the reader can make his or her own predictions. '"Game Informer" stated that SSBB would release on June 1st, however, this is not yet completely confirmed or denied.' Doesn't this mean any date can be mentioned, just so long as it is backed up with a "non-confirm"? Latteran 17:37, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Pictures of the Characters
I think mabye to improve the article we should put pictures of each of the characters. --YOSHIANDLINK1 00:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Already discussed, agreed that wouldn't be the best thing to do. It would clutter the article. Plus, there's a group shot of all the characters in the article already. -Sukecchi 00:36, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Well there isn't a picture of Fox. --YOSHIANDLINK1 00:40, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't know (I just joined today).
- With a link to the official website at the bottom of the page that has all the pictures you could want, the article really doesn't need many screenshots. Am I right? (Zojo 18:17, 17 April 2007 (UTC))
Yoshi is prabably in Super Smash Bros. Brawl...right?
Yoshi is prabably in Brawl because of his stage. Why would they have a Yoshi stage without Yoshi?--YOSHIANDLINK1 01:02, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Speculation, although it is a given. Quatreryukami 01:24, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
why would they have a smash bros. without all the original characters... "to everybody whose an idiot, expect to see everyone from the previous smash bros. games, so stop posting "is yoshi going to be in ssbb? is peach? it's anoying" --168.212.252.30 17:38, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Whether or not Yoshi is in the game is currently speculative, although he could be considered semi-confirmed. BassxForte 02:37, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- it's very likely he'll be in the game, as he was in the first two games and there was the Yoshi's Island-themed stage in the trailer. however, since there's no CONFIRMATION, we can't write that in. only when he's officially announced by Nintendo &/or the official game site can we add him to the roster. FyreNWater 07:36, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Let's start a likely character section and put Yoshi in it.Anubiz 15:27, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Won't that just start us on a slippery slope? Once that section is started, I can imagine people will start adding characters to it that don't belong there. How can we define "likely character", anyway? --LuigiManiac 15:33, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Although I really don't think we should, bc of spec, Likely Character would just be a reprint of the char lists form Melee, and Sonic, of course. But dont do it!!!!Quatreryukami 15:51, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Actually maybe we should keep the circle even smaller than that, Princess Peach, Sonic, and Yoshi. If there is only a few characters than the slope will not be so slippery.Anubiz 16:19, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Proof of my point. What about Bowser? Why would Peach get in before Bowser if they were both considered for the original and were both in Melee? See, the thing is that most of the characters from Melee would have some reason for returning to Brawl. I don't know any reason why Peach should be on that list if any of the others from Melee don't get on. --LuigiManiac 16:27, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Because Bower is the bad guy. Princess peach is a lot more popular than Bowser I also didn't know they considered him for the original. Also I thought somebody said that she was likely in the Princess peach section of this page.Anubiz 16:35, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- A "likly character" section would just turn this article into a soapbox with people adding any character they feel like, it would only hurt the article, thus iit should not be put in. BassxForte 16:41, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- The real problem is that such content is based on personal speculation that is not attributable to a reliable source. It's original research. If Sakurai makes a verifiable statement that a character was likely to be in the game, we can mention that, as Sakurai is a reliable source as the director of the game. No such source can be provided for this. Dancter 16:56, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Yeah only confirmed characters should be posted. If ya'll start a "Likely Characters" section it will go from reasonable characters like Yoshi but then go to characters who would never be in there like...uh...John Madden. And besides, since it'd be obvious that Yoshi would be in it, you don't need to put it in the article, people already know it in their hearts (Zojo 17:47, 16 April 2007 (UTC))
Ya, Likly Characters what was I thinking?Anubiz 20:48, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

- Bizarre... It seems that since the last archive it's only been the same questions posted on the talk page all over again, despite the fact we have a FAQ up top that answers questions like this. I always found the FAQ link in its box to be something that doesn't stand out to someone that isn't specifically looking for it, so I think it would be better if it were revised visually and textwise to be more eye-catching. Anyone agree? Erik Jensen (Appreciate|Laugh At) 21:14, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think so. I just found it a few days ago and I have been watching this talkpage for a month or two. Minirogue 21:18, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Right. Psychologically, the big talkheader template at the top of the page, being on every article's talk page, is something we instinctively expect to see and have to look below each time we enter a talk page, so we therefore instinctively skip that template. Since the box with the FAQ link below is in the same coloring and structure, it almost looks like part of the talkheader template itself, so it and its hardly noticeable "this handy FAQ" link get instinctively skipped by the human eye as well. Call me Freud. ^_^
- Yeah, I think so. I just found it a few days ago and I have been watching this talkpage for a month or two. Minirogue 21:18, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

- I propose, then, that the box with the FAQ link has its color changed somewhat, and probably give it a thick black border to make it stand out among the templates, and then have the text in the box itself say something like "HALT. Please read this FAQ page for answers to common questions about SSBB before posting here; you may find the answer to your question already." this is Wikipedia, not a forum. FyreNWater 21:37, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, that too, which is all the more reason why we should consider retooling the link to the FAQ page to make it more noticeable so that forummish topics that can be answered by reading the FAQ can be toned down in frequency. Erik Jensen (Appreciate|Laugh At) 21:39, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

I just saying this Disy stuff seames out of noware, whats next a Slowbro is in Brawl thing? Anubiz 01:25, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- I think that when people ask questions like that, they might just be trying to spark a discussion. I would assume that the person would have read the article at least once (if not more) and already knows what characters are confirmed. A person asking if "so and so" is going to be in Brawl just be there way of getting peoples opinion or fishing up rumors. I hope that's the case because someone's got to be an idiot if they can't figure out that if a character doesn't appear in the article, that means they are not confirmed. Am I right? Wikipedia does not a form Sir. Wario you must mever from the man's rules otherwise you'll end up like me.Anubiz 17:17, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
- Wait, what? Seriously, check your spelling and grammar. InsaneZeroG 18:23, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
- I think he said "Wikipedia is not a forum sir de wario. You must never deviate from The Man's rules, or otherwise you will end up like me." From the sounds of it he normally uses Dragon, a speech recognition program. Although I admit the last one was a little hard to understand, I think he is still getting his point across well for typing words out when he doesn't normally do so. --LuigiManiac 18:35, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
right, end up like what, im confused. Sir de wario 19:57, 21 April 2007 (UTC)sir de wario
Japanese Release Date
I don't know if this source can be trusted but according to Nintendo Dream, Gamelabo and Famitsu, the game will be released in Japan in December. I'm not sure if we should put the Japanese release date as December 2007, or Holiday 2007, but I think it should maybe be changed. Here's the source for you guys to check out http://www.jeux-france.com/news19962.html -Alegeobla 18:46, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- While Famitsu is definitely a reputable source, if the information has indeed been reported by the aforementioned publications, it will be covered by reliable English-language sites that can be trusted to do a better job with translation than Babelfish. There's no need to rush on this. Dancter 00:20, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
I have sources at Nintendo that confirm the game will be realeased before 2010.
So far Codename revolution is the only other source to report this. You'd think someone like IGN would have reported it too by now. It also seems to suggest that Famitsu and the other magazines are PREDICTING that it will release in December. 199.126.137.209 03:06, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
I have sources at Nintendo that say Mario will be in Brawl. Keep that under your hats, folks. (Zojo 14:06, 20 April 2007 (UTC))
Dude, are you joking? Like the first character said to be in Brawl was Mario! Are you just figuring this out now? O_o dude that is pretty darn sad.;( 72.93.23.249 23:28, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Mario is not news, if you found figher Snorlax stuff that wiil be news.Anubiz 00:11, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
I think he was being sarcastic. Sam 00:00, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Yeah I was being sarcastic. And I'm a little disappointed that people took me seriously. If I was that dumb to not think Mario was a given, I would be too mentally challenged to be typing this statement (Zojo 00:58, 21 April 2007 (UTC))
That date would make sense. I think it will be out around that time, but proably in the u.s. in early march.
BIG NEWS!!!!
Super smash bros brawl is confirmed for the wii. (Sorry if I got your hopes up!) No but seriously, I have read that mario strikers charged will be realeased soon and IT WAS SAID TO BE WIFI COMPATIBLE . Does this mean we can expect wifi soon? We realy dont know if smash will be wifi compatible in the final agenda, so mabey this could shed some light?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.12.186.66 (talk • contribs)
- ...Wtf? Uhm, its been on Wii since the start of dev!Quatreryukami 01:22, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- Read the rest of the post. It goes on to say wi-fi stuff.
And no, 74. (How does one game having wi-fi mean another will?)—Loveはドコ? 01:23, 20 April 2007 (UTC)- (edit conflict) And if we put something in the SSBB article about wi-fi being likely, that would be pure speculation. Which is bad. — MalcolmUse the schwartz! 01:25, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- Read the rest of the post. It goes on to say wi-fi stuff.
- facepalm* this just in: it's ALWAYS been for the Wii and Wi-fi was announced a while back. FyreNWater 07:06, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- The first Wii game that's WiFi compatible was Pokémon Battle Revolution, and it was released in Japan in December. Although this really doesn't have anything to do with the article at all. Just because one game is going to be WiFi-enabled doesn't mean a single thing about an entirely different game being WiFi-enabled. Disaster Kirby 07:18, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Man this guy is a nube!Anubiz 09:44, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- WiFi compatibility for SSBB was announced at the same time the game was, way before the name was decided, (or even before Sakurai became director..) It's even on the article. Everyone's more concerned about what the limit of this WiFi compatibility will be at the end. Keep up with the news... - Zero1328 Talk? 09:51, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

- Wait a minute! Super Smash Bros Brawl is confirmed for the Wii?! Seriously?! AWESOME!!! I was under the impression that Brawl would be the last games released for the N64. But now it's on the Wii...SWEEEEEEEEEET!!! And it's Wifi compatabe to boot! Man, I never dreamed something this awesome could ever happen. (Zojo 14:03, 20 April 2007 (UTC))
Masahiro Sakurai (if you don't know him he's the game director) said he will do his best to make Brawl Wi-Fi Compatable.--YOSHIANDLINK1 20:05, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes every one knows that. Wifi is part of Brawl.Anubiz 20:09, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
He said he would do his best. That means there is still a posibility that wifi could not happen and if strikers comes wifi, it means there will be more wifi compatible games released soon. That is what I wanted to state. IF WIFI COMETH BEFORETH SMASHEF, WIFI SMASH is hereeth! DUMB asses! by zee way, this is "74"
Not necessarily, 74. THe fact that Strikers is wifi doesn't really make the possiblity of wifi in brawl any better and if it does, it's a very little increase in chance. (Zojo)
what i MEAN is that if wifi didnt ocur soon, smash might not have wifi. I honestly thought it would take a little longer for wii-wifi. If anything, oline games for the wii THAT ARE RELEASED AROUD WIFI are going to have problems that will need fixed. If smash comes out AFTER these problems have been fixed, then there might not be any problems and wifi would be perfect for it. Its like WoW, when it first went online, it had problems that were fixed. Any way, I doubt smash will have absolutelty perfect wifi, but thats just me.
