Christopher McDonald

There appears to be a conflicting in reporting. Deadline reports McDonald as being the known character actor while the THR report states it’s a newcomer with the same name. Rusted AutoParts 22:07, 7 June 2024 (UTC)

I'm inclined to believe THR here as they have the exclusive. Deadline is likely confusing the two given their similar names. This Christopher MacDonald (with an "a") is a newcomer, as THR explains, while Christopher McDonald is the more established actor. Even Collider points out MacDonald was in a cast photo Gunn shared earlier this week, which also included Hoover and Beckett. McDonald is also Black (the same as his character Ron Troupe) while McDonald is white. It's really hard to mistake the few other than a minor naming issue. WP:Common sense applies here. In Gunn's Instagram post confirming the castings, he directly mentions Christopher MacDonald, who is clearly not the white actor from Hacks or Secret Invasion. Trailblazer101 (talk) 22:24, 7 June 2024 (UTC)

Additionally Deadline amended their article to remove mentions of the elder McDonald, so this is now a moot subject lol. Rusted AutoParts 00:15, 8 June 2024 (UTC)

Cast list

I don't think This article on DC.com is an official press release or an official cast list. WBD doesn't have any press releases for the film on their press site since first announcing that Gunn would be director, the article doesn't have anything in it to indicate that it is an official release from DC Studios, and I don't think there is any indication that this would be the place for official DC Studios news to be released. Gunn has been releasing all the information we know, including the image that is in the article, on social media. Also, the cast members that are included in the article are just the ones that we knew about at the time. All of the cast members that have been removed from the cast list due to being excluded from this article were only known to be cast in the months since the article was published. - adamstom97 (talk) 18:48, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

I agree that this cast list doesn't seem like an official list and more just a general statement by DC.com. It feels odd to have use this as a solid list when it is outdated, and I think we should revert back to the prior order, as while not ideal to have a long list of names, it is what is most accurate at this time until we get an official billing and not some random order from DC's site. @BarntToust and Trailblazer101: thanks for adding in the new images, it's nice to have relevant ones to help illustrate the cast and set during filming. I do think there has been a bit too much back-and-forth editing over these in the last few days, it would be good to discuss further image changes at the talk page rather than continuing to change each other's edits so much. - adamstom97 (talk) 09:17, 28 June 2024 (UTC)

@Trailblazer101 @Adamstom.97 Yeah, I added the daily planet standee and the other. I flew under the false flag of, "if it's directly relevant, it's good to use". we should definitely wait until more come out to consider having 3 rows like Skyfall#Filming] does. My bad on misreading that policy, I do apologize.

Not every image that is relevant to the film needs to be included in the article. We just want it to look visually pleasing for readers and to not overload it with too many images. This is not a gallery of set photos. I don't think the Superman image in "Marketing" should be deleted given it was the subject of critical commentary, which allows such non-free images to remain on the wiki. Plus, not all set photos are reflective of what will appear in the finished film. I think we are truly good on images in this article for the time being, especially in terms of those from the Cleveland set. Trailblazer101 (talk) 21:29, 28 June 2024 (UTC)

@Trailblazer101 Yeah, like how Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds had commentary on their suits. another project we work on mutually, Deadpool & Wolverine. We should write words in the caption box. I see IGN did an article --> the Superman Suit Probably Isn’t Even the Version You’ll See in Theaters - IGN and forbes Corenswet’s Superman Looks Fantastic In New Images, And The Suit Is Great on commentary.
