Moving Surankote Tehsil Page

edit

"Surankote" is a locality in Poonch district whereas Tehsil is an sub-administrative division in some countries of South Asia. Therefore, the page title should be separated by a Comma punctuation mark as "Surankote, Tehsil" to indicate, that the Surankote is a locality and "Tehsil" is its sub-administrative or administrative unit. In accordance with WP:NCIND, the page shall be moved to Surankote, Tehsil. Opinions are welcome (Farooqahmadbhat (talk) 21:13, 26 November 2018 (UTC))Reply

I'm not sure I get the point: Surankote is a tehsil, right? – Uanfala (talk) 13:30, 27 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Farooqahmadbhat, the title Surankote, Tehsil is at best misleading as the comma implies that Surankote is a place within some bigger placed named "Tehsil". I'm going to move the article back to Surankote Tehsil in line with the names of other tehsils. – Uanfala (talk) 01:37, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Uanfala, Surankote is a tehsil and municipal committee in the Poonch district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.. ????? What does it mean? The name "Surankote" is a place whereas Tehsil is an area (place) of land with a city or town and this town is indeed "Surankote".. The decision was taken under the WP:NCIND and WP:COMMAS. If a user removes comma inside a title, it may become grammatically incorrect. Example, Surankote Tehsil..... Is there any place in this world named "Tehsil"? or is it a status granted by Governing body? (Farooqahmadbhat (talk) 14:10, 29 November 2018 (UTC))Reply
I think you're misunderstanding the naming conventions. Look at the example given in WP:NCIND: "Tanur, Malappuram". The comma separates the name of the town (Tanur) from the name of the district it's found in (Malapuram). That's what commas normally do in the titles of articles about populated places. If this article were to follow this model, it would be titled "Surankote, Poonch", but there's no need for disambiguation because there are no other places with this name. If this article is to be only about the town, then it should be titled "Surankote". And if it is to be about the tehsil, then it should be titled "Surankote Tehsil". You don't put commas before generic words for administrative units like "district" or "tehsil": see the for example the articles in Category:Tehsils of India. – Uanfala (talk) 14:26, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
As far as i understand, both "Surankote Tehsil" and "Surankote, Tehsil" are incorrect... There should be "Poonch" in place of "Tehsil" or only "Surankote".. Adding or removing comma, wouldn't make any sense. Thanks for you help Farooqahmadbhat (talk) 15:26, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
How about moving the page to Surankote then? – Uanfala (talk) 22:55, 29 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
