I think your question is answered in Wikipedia:No original research. Wikipedia's purpose is not to publish what editors can learn (or already know) on their own. The last part of the first paragraph on that page says, "... you must be able to cite reliable, published sources that are directly related to the topic of the article and directly support the material being presented."
