Fair use rationale for Image:MK083.jpg
editImage:MK083.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:18, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Puerto Rican descent
editThere seems to be some slo-mo edit warring on whether to include in the lede the fact that Soto is of Puerto Rican descent. As I read this, Puerto Rican is not her nationality. She was born in New York, and there is no claim that she is a Puerto Rican national. Rather, it's indicative of her ethnicity; or else the word descent would not be used here.
WP:MOSBIO is pretty clear on how to handle this:
- Ethnicity should generally not be emphasized in the opening unless it is relevant to the subject's notability.
Her Puerto Rican ethnicity is not relevant to her notability. While it may have impacted her childhood, she would be just as notable if she were not of Puerto Rican descent. I think it's pretty clear that this does not belong in the lede. TJRC (talk) 16:24, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- As the person who created the article and who is proud of his Puerto Rican heritage, I would like to express my opinion to User:TomNativeNewYorker. When I first joined Wikipedia I also believed that a person's heritage should be mentioned in the introduction, however policy has changed a lot since then and we must follow what policy dictates. I fully agree with All Hallow's Wraith and TJRC that Soto's Puerto Rican heritage is not relevant to her notability and should not be in the introduction. Her Puerto Rican heritage is clearly stated and understood as such in the first paragraph where it is stated that her parents are Puerto Rican. Besides that she is listed in the List of Puerto Ricans which appears in her bio. and in which she is listed, therefore making obvious her heritage. Only if her heritage were part of her notability, should it be mentioned in the introduction: Example "First person of Puerto Rican descent to become an Astronaut, General, Supreme Court Justice, etc." I hope that I am clear in my position and that Tom will understand and refrain reverting and from being involved in a possible edit-war.
