Fancruft, cleanup

edit

Hi,

Although the recent addition of info on Tara Singh was good on the whole, there is (1) a lot of fancruft and (2) too much stuff that is un-verified and without a source. Cleanup, re-organization and verification of this article is necessary.

We can retain this info only if its sources are cited, and if its fancruft is removed. The worst that could happen is that the administrators could straight out delete it.

The clean-up is mostly completed. The large amount of info is good.

I have noted the above user deleting swathes of text from pages on Sikh related issues. Is it being monitored? For now I have undone his revisions.--Sikh-history (talk) 14:32, 25 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Name Change??

Wouldn't Master Tara Singh be better title for the article.--Vigyani (talk) 16:53, 4 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup - warning

edit

If someone can't get to grips with sourcing this article properly - see WP:Citing sources - then I will simply delete everything that isn't sourced. There is far, far too much of it and, as said some years ago above, far too much fancruft. - Sitush (talk) 18:26, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've done what I said. I've also then attempted a quick rebuild using Encyclopaedia Britannica, which is not really a source that I like to use. Hopefully, other people can take this on and improve it. - Sitush (talk) 00:07, 27 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

additions to article on Tara Singh

Top Secret report of Lord Mountbatten of August 9,1947 at page 172 of the book Mountbatten and the Partition of India Vikas publishers, New Delhi ,1982 written by Larry Collins & Dominique Lapierre reveals that ," On August 5, Jenkins sent down a Police Officer with a verbal report . I took advance of the fact that there was a Partition Council Meeting the morning he arrived to keep back Mr Jinnah , Mr Liaqat Ali Khan and Sardar Patel so that they could hear what he had to say." ..... "This man's statement involved Master Tara Singh in the production of bombs and a Sikh plan to attack a certain headworks. Statements of other men who had been arrested invovlved Tara Singh in plans to wreck the trains carrying the Pakistan Govt Staff from Delhi to Karachi and in plans to assassinate Mr. Jinnah during the celebration in Karachi on August 15. The evidence produced was so incriminating that Jenkins may have to arrest Tara Singh and the more hot-headed of his confederates shortly before August 15." After this information reached some leaders mass killings and forced migration in West Punjab had started and in retaliation mass killings and migration in East Punjab had stated. Freedom at Midnight book written by Larry Collins & Dominque Lapierre, Simon and Schuster New York, 1975 , writes at page 230-231 that ,"The Sikh leadership had met at a secret council in Nedou's Hotel in Lahore.....The dominant voice at the council was that of the hot-eyed fanatic who had started the March conflagration by hacking down a Moslem League banner with his Kirpan . Tara Singh, called "Master" by his followers , because he was a third grade school teacher."..."O Sikhs ", he had shouted , in a speech that foretold too well the tragedy soon to overtake the Punjab ,"be ready for self destruction like the Japenese and Nazis." Any link on google books or jstor that may support the content you are trying to put? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:11, 2 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

I do not know if this book is present on google books or jstor. The book is certainly available at the link I provided earlier. Baldev Singh 300 (talk) 08:54, 3 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

I haven't seen the first book, but Freedom at Midnight is well-known. In my view, the authors resort to journalistic sensationalism, and a lot of their historical claims haven't checked out. Tara Singh's kirpan has been subject to a lot of misinformation and propaganda. I would ask for a WP:HISTRS for making any claims about it. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 09:22, 3 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
But you have not talked about Lord Mountbattes's Top Secret report of August 9,1947 wherein it is clearly mentioned that Tara Singh had planned to kill Mr Jinnah and Muslims . -- — Preceding unsigned comment added by Baldev Singh 300 (talkcontribs)
No, I haven't talked about it, and I won't talk about it because we don't interpret WP:PRIMARY sources. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 20:54, 3 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your act is arbitrary, illegal, biased and at hiding the historical truth to misguide the readers and masses. Tara Singh's acts caused holocaust and mass migration of innocent people . However, I have exposed all the facts in my books , and also reserve the right to proceed legally against you . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Baldev Singh 300 (talkcontribs) 00:07, 4 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Never a good idea to make legal threats in Wikipedia. "Tara Singh's acts caused holocaust and mass migration of innocent people..." <--- That needs to be widely sourced with WP:SECONDARY, WP:HISTRS sources. Otherwise it is an allegation. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:23, 4 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Legal rights and options are not threat but a legal right . However, I shall adopt all other options available before I think of legal rights. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Baldev Singh 300 (talkcontribs) 19:39, 4 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
