edit"It went on producing some high end and technically advanced models until 1957 when it presentend the astounding Tatra 603." So, tell us what was so astounding about the Tatra 603? Wondering simply, -- Infrogmation 05:34 8 Jul 2003 (UTC)
- Just look at it. ;) Seriously: the car has been featured in a movie as an example of fantastic (as in, fantasy-like) design, has been used as a base for a futuristic car at an exhibibition, and had been one of those 'when does it go on sale?' hits at another. And that was all in the past year or two.. Hertog (talk) 20:23, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
I believe that the Tatra T603 was a 180 degree V8, if this is true I believe it would be worth mentioning. I will try to find my pictures of a very nice specimen which resides in Toronto, Canada.
- No it was a 90 degree V8, see picture at http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/HYPHEN/tatragal.htm // Liftarn
- I just added some pictures of the T603 and T613 engines. E Asterion u talking to me? 18:45, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Three headlights: is it correct to say that the T603 had three headlights? Looks more like the T77 and T87...
- Early T603s had three headlights behind a glass screen, but they were not, as asserted, 'unique'. Ref. Tucker '48 Sedan, Austin A90 Atlantic, etc., etc.. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Heckmotor (talk • contribs) 07:57, 9 March 2007 (UTC).
War Years
editCitation #1, supporting the oft-quoted, probably apocryphal reference to the big Tatra's reputation as a 'Czech secret weapon', due to the attrition of its German officer drivers, is an ill-informed, lightweight novelty article from Time magazine that has no place in any encyclopaedia. It would be good to see a lot of Tatra 'received wisdom' corroborated by authorititive reference sources, but not justified with material like this. Heckmotor (talk) 20:07, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- It was just an anecdote at the times , no harm done mentioning it ( yes I know no trivia on Wikipedia) but if you don't like it, edit it please. Stonufka (talk) 13:43, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- I found a reference to it in a book called Car Wars, though I unfortunately lost the book so I cannot tell what their source was. However, the authors seemed to be quite thorough in their research. Hertog (talk) 20:08, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Tatra-t97-small.JPG
editImage:Tatra-t97-small.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. I believe that Adolf Hitler was a fan of the Tatra marque and it was under his "tutelage" that Porsche copied Tatra's idea for the peoples car. No better way to deal with a patent infringement suit than invade :-)

Recomendation to split or rename the article ...
edit- I recommend to either split the article to separate car and truck division or to rename e.g. Tatra_Automobiles, perhaps separating the cars and trucks will serve its purpose better like e.g. the articles about Volvo trucks and Volvo cars Any comments? Stonufka (talk) 13:34, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- The history of Tatra cars and Tatra Trucks has been intertwined, and it always has been one company. Volvo Cars is at the moment owned by Ford, and Volvo trucks is a different, private company. Tatra has never made such a split, and is still more or less the same company even though they produce trucks only at the moment. Furthermore, one of Tatra's discerning qualities, the famous air-cooled engine, is found in cars and trucks alike. Splitting it will only create much cross-referencing to the shared history of the company Hertog (talk) 20:16, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
- I guess you're right perhaps article name change would be more appropriate as currently it implies mostly car manufacturer at first, so maybe more neutral name e.g. "automobiles" could be used. Stonufka (talk) 13:14, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
In text citation
editI'm not going to satisfy someone's obsession with in text citation, please be reasonable whats next! citing every sentence, so go ahead and have your way and your template, its like those who deleted the Tatra logo while they have nothing against countless other manufacturers logos on Wikipedia just because there was no elaborate fair use rationale. The IP correctness gone mad .... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stonufka (talk • contribs) 13:29, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Missing Facts
editThe most interesting fact in article gone vague: is being inspired by the benz automobile...The article also failed to mention the worlds first flat four engine with 3 main bearings, and benz crankshaft, was built by nesselsdorf. There is a gray area about world wars and who ended up with what,as original designers and inspirations. the only correct out loud fact in article is giving credit to Benz. but that is not at my liberty to say and justify.. Incredibly important fact missing for the absolute greatest four cylinder engine known to mankind, even contently staying in aviation to this day becuase of the natural perfections. Credit is deserved for these godly nameless engineers.More facts needed. I found more on the web than I did this wiki article, and it is my only justification. ~soob792~ 03:29, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Tatra Sipox and Ravi Rishi
editWhat is the relation between Tatra and Tatra Sipox UK. Does Ravi Rishi owns majority shares in former or latter? Someone please clarify. Aravind V R (talk) 05:20, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Ravinder Kumar Rishi (born 09/09/1955) is a member of the board of directors of Tatra. Tatra has also bearer shares, so it is virtually impossible to say, who the owner of these shares is. 1 Cimmerian praetor (talk) 17:48, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page
editCyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Oldest car manufacturers
editWhen I read that Tatra was the third oldest car manufacturer after Peugot and Daimler, I was sceptical, but as I don't have the source on hand. As far as I was aware, Renault began manufacturing cars before Peugot, so I checked the respective wiki page and it says Peugot was founded in 1910, although, it also said that Renault began in 1899; but Louis Renault had already produced a number of cars by that stage.--Senor Freebie (talk) 03:34, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
- A number of companies started producing cars in the 1890s and Tatra (or Nesselsdorfer Wagenbau, to be precise) was not one of the first. It was not even the first in Austria-Hungary, although it is often incorrectly claimed so. Moreover, Tatra counts the start of automobile production incorrectly from 1897, but actually the Präsident was not finished before 1898. --Gwafton (talk) 11:37, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
The way the claim has always been expressed is that by the time Tatra built its last car in 1998/9 it was the third oldest car manufacturer still in production, which rules out Panhard and many others. The company still builds trucks, so maybe that should be changed to the third oldest surviving automotive manufacturer, unless someone can put up other earlier companies still in production?Heckmotor97 (talk) 15:56, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
Tatra exist only since 1919, hence it is by no means one of the oldest car producing companies in the world. The Czechs erased the past. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:F4:4735:6A00:D4C:8BC5:111:5CF3 (talk) 11:26, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

Confusing sentence
editWhat is 'truthe' ?Neils51 (talk) 12:09, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
- I have no idea. That strange sentence has been there since at least March 2010. Incomprehensible to me (and also unsourced, or maybe the source at the end of the paragraph also pertains to this sentence). If you have any (sourced) idea what it should or could mean, please change it to something intelligible. Mark in wiki (talk) 12:43, 13 September 2017 (UTC)
There are many websites reflecting the same error. Have changed it to make the sense I believe was intended. Neils51 (talk) 01:30, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
