The data I found on Taylor Branch was included in a notice for the 11th annual National Conference Against Legalized Gambling (of all places), where he was appearing as a speaker. I double checked the individual items in a variety of other scattered sources and what I entered all checked out as accurate. If you have any questions or problems with the article please edit it and/or contact me directly on my Talk Page. (This is, incidently, my first major edit in Wiki). "some of the history.....?"

edit

Branch's books chronicle "some" of the history of the civil rights movement? How about MOST of the history of the civil rights movement. And if you read the books they are not an account of King's life, but an account of the movement as a whole where King was a player. Branch covers all aspects of the movement until King's death, including Malcolm X's involvement. Branch's books are THE definitive history of the movement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.119.151.233 (talk) 05:09, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Changed it to 'much of the history' awhile back. Branch's extremely fine books are purposefully focused on many aspects of Dr. King's major role in the Civil Rights Movement. That was Branch's intention when he started his work. He ended up to be a very fine captain of that intention. Owing to this original intent, Branch's work, in some areas, does not give the complete history of the overall movement, detail the strategic planning of the various individual movements, or, owing to the scope of the effort, to the overall movement thinking and accomplishments of some of the other major participants. Hence the word 'much' instead of 'most', and Branch himself may be in total agreement with that. A work can only cover so much, and Branch covered it so very well.Randy Kryn 13:35 13 July 2014 (UTC)
