not on display
editi've edited to make it clearer that the taonga isn't on display, but instead in a storage box. I went there today to see him (te uenuku) but was told by staff that he is in storage. They have a display with a photo instead.
I can't find any references for the "newly refurbished display" mentioned. Staff at the museum told me the museum never had a permanent home, and the current temporary building has no climate control, so they cannot display anything precious.
