Past races

Could anybody try to give us the past race history of each of the two Tenno Sho races? Thanks. Bigtop 23:09, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

It is difficult writing in English Japanese name

• see Romanization_of_Japanese,Sokuon,Yōon

• 1947 spring winner

• オーライト in Japanease
• ŌRAITO in Hepburn romanization
• maybe 'O Lite' is appropriate, as 'O' means 'king', and 'Lite' comes from Diolite;O lite is sired by St.Lite who was sired by Diolite.
• but in Japanese,'All Right' can be written as 'オーライト'(ŌRAITO).
• or,'O Light','Oh,wright',are indistinguishable to us, because there is no distinction in the pronunciation of R and L in Japanese.

• as well as 1943 spring winner 'Grand Lite'.

• 1942 spring winner Minami Mor

• ミナミモア in Japanease
• MINAMI MOA in Hepburn romanization
• maybe 'Minami Mor' is appropriate, as 'Minami' means 'south', and 'Mor' comes from Shian Mor;Minami Mor is sired by Shian Mor.
• but in Japanese,'More' can be written as 'モア'(Moa).

• 1948 spring winner Cyma is very difficult.

• シーマー in Japanease
• Shīmā in Hepburn romanization (pronounced as 'seemer')
• I have no idea what 'Shīmā' stands for.
• possibly, family name of his owner, Mr.Shimada could serve origin of the naming.
• 'seemer','Schiemer'(like Franz Schiemer),'Seamer'
• but in Family Tables of Racinghorses Vol.IV,'Cyma' is adopted.(However we usually write as 'Shīma' or 'Saima' for Cyma.)

Split into two pages

I propose that this page be split into separate pages, one for each race, in line with other Group One races. The existing page could be kept, to provide background to the link betwen the races. (JockeyColours (talk) 20:02, 28 July 2017 (UTC))
