Relationship with Janelle Monae
editJust FYI — while I personally think Tessa Thompson is probably dating Janelle Monae, and that she has said things that could imply that they're dating, no news source or interview has an outright confirmation, include the ones linked in the article so far. Out of caution for accuracy I've changed that sentence to match what the sources do confirm — speculation exists — until we get a more definitive source. --Arkansass (talk) 13:20, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
2019 Comic Con Midwest information
editInformation has been added to the Tessa Thompson article with claims about her attendance at 2019 Comic Con Midwest and receiving, at the conference, a marriage proposal from a fan. The information is unsourced to reliable sources and so should be excluded on that basis alone. In addition, in my opinion, it is trivia and unimportant (WP:NOTTABLOID), such that, even if sourced to reliable sources, it does not belong in this article. What do other editors think about this? – Archer1234 (talk) 15:27, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
- Absolutely should not be included. Completely trivial. I've reverted accordingly. NiciVampireHeart 15:33, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Sexual orientation
editI added the word "specifically" into the line about her sexuality. The way it was phrased before it implied (at least to me) that she had denied being bisexual, whereas according the source that's cited, it's more that she doesn't like to put a label on it and doesn't identify specifically as bisexual. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Margretarson (talk • contribs) 00:24, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
- If she doesn't want to be labeled as Bisexual, why all the LGBT tags? She explicitly doesn't identify as LGBT

- If you go to the Wikipedia article for LGBT it says that the term can refer "to anyone who is non-heterosexual or non-cisgender, instead of exclusively to people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender." While, yes, she has stated that she doesn't identify with the term bisexual, she has also stated that she has been attracted to women, which makes her non-heterosexual, hence LGBT. If you want to make the case that we should then use a more inclusive term like LGBTQI or queer, I agree, but that would involve a site-wide change in direction, not just removing the LGBT tags in this one article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Margretarson (talk • contribs) 00:54, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Staraction (talk | contribs) 23:53, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
