Who originated the idea for this story anyways? (it was Paul Feig, but does he get any credit?)
editI do not see any credit given to Paul Feig. Paul Feig wrote a book in 2002 called _Superstud: Or How I became a 24-year-old virgin_ ... later Judd Apatow and Steve Carell wrote this movie...
Judd Apatow and Paul Feig originally worked on _Freaks and Geeks_ .... See the connection? Sp0 (talk) 17:45, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
The song?
editAnyone know the lyrics to the Guatemalan song? All I can catch is:
Cuando ... mi cuarto ... tan de prisa .... partido de futbol
When ...... my room ... so quicly ... football match.

Weird
editIt is rather weird having an article about a film that has not yet been released - isn't this just advertising? A curate's egg 15:51, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Not really, there are a lot of articles about upcoming films, sporting events, elections, etc. By the way, I must say that this film is HILARIOUS! -- MicahMN | Talk 02:25, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
What?
edit"The trailer of the movie has scenes that do not appear in the movie because of an abundance of strong language."
I don't understand. Does this mean the trailer had stronger language than the film did? I just saw the movie, and it's rather hard to imagine stronger language than they used. My best guess is something along the lines of "additional scenes had to be filmed for the trailer, since so many of the film's actual scenes contain strong language." Am I close? -DynSkeet (talk) 15:48, August 22, 2005 (UTC)
- Agreed - I changed it to what you wrote. Now that I think about it - in the trailer, after the guy says "Just wax that whole Teen Wolf thing off", Carell screams "Nooooooooooo! Kelly Clarkson." I was wondering for a long time why he screamed that. However, I remember seeing a different trailer where he screams "Nooooooooooo! Kama Sutra" or something similar. Was this the one that was in the film while the Kelly Clarkson reference is in the trailer only? (I know - I should go see the damn move. I will do so, just not right this second.) You can watch the "Kelly Clarkson" trailer here to see for yourself. -Hyad 07:39, August 25, 2005 (UTC)
- He says Kelly Clarkson in the movie, at least when I watched it he did. When I saw the trailer I thought it was obvious why he screams Kelly Clarkson; it's an insult to Kelly Clarkson that you can use her name interchangably with cuss words.Qutezuce 07:51, August 25, 2005 (UTC)
- No. He uses Kelly Clarkson because Kelly Clarkson was a body waxer before she became famous. 137.238.0.5 10:52, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Did you guys ever stop to think that maybe he said Kelly Clarkson becuase it's a stupid thing to say which makes it funny. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.213.233.162 (talk) 22:40, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

editYou know how I know you're gay? You like Coldplay!

I wonder if people would think it was so funny if they'd used the line, "You know how I know you're Black?" Doubt it. But making fun of someone by "insulting" him with the statement that he's gay? Well, that's just funny as hell, isn't it? And then you'll all go out and vote Democrat like you're all intelligent and progressive, right? Pathetic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.4.206.143 (talk) 21:16, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
tbh people would probs have laughed just as much if they did use black.81.129.107.189 (talk) 07:49, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Do we really need an entire section on the proper hyphenation of the title?
edittrivia
editI removed the line "The screaming exclamation were unscripted (aside from a loose outline of screaming, swearing and then apologizing)." from the triva because its patently untrue if you watch the out-takes. --Patrick Berry 15:16, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Missing
editIn between Andy getting his chest waxed and David giving him his "big box of porn", Cal tells him that getting his chest waxed is the gayest thing you can do and he then flirts with Beth. This should be added as I think it's rather significant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Freestyle cheddar (talk • contribs) 21:05, August 24, 2007 (UTC)

Recent changes
editmoviezen.com has been deamed to be a unreliable source, not to mention only weasel words were attributed to that reference "many movie goers believe"..., accordingly I have removed that drivel. I also disagree with the editor who reverted my edits to the page that the religous beliefs of the critics should not be mentioned. Considering the only source that backs up this statement is from "catholicnews.com", and it goes without saying catholics will be against anything that promotes sex outside of marriage, I firmly believe in this case it is worth mentioning that they are they only people who appear to have had a problem with this aspect of the film. Also the quote from the catholic website "under the guise of pretending that the lead character, Andy, is a really cool guy", should this be reworded? Obviously it is opinionated, the movie does not "pretend" anything, it just portrays characters. Freikorp (talk) 10:58, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
- Amended as per no objections, I firmly believe my edits are neutral and would prefer if people would discuss here before reverting them. Freikorp (talk) 09:32, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Paula
editSurely there should be mention of the running gag where Paula all but propositions the terrified Andy. Jane Lynch's portrayal of Paula is first-rate in a part originally written for a man — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alf Heben (talk • contribs) 20:12, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- I don't want to put undue emphasis on the idea that the store manager was originally going to be played by a man because although it is mostly true Apatow has also stated that he tailor the script to the gifts of the actors (or actresses) that are cast. -- 109.78.245.27 (talk) 06:56, 2 October 2019 (UTC)
Production
editThere was a huge chunk of the article about the home media release and DVD commentary that was deleted.
Most of that "trivia" is actually production information. If someone can find more sources or has the commentary and could maybe reference the times on the commentary, a lot of this could be added back to the article.
I also notice the film was released on HD-DVD which in hindsight is vaguely interesting since the format is long dead, but again that needs a source. It also helps put into context why it was worth mentioning that the film was released on Blu-ray for Universals 100th anniversary. -- 109.78.129.163 (talk) 21:45, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- Found a few but I'd still like to find a alternative source to confirm Adam McKay made suggestions. -- 109.78.245.27 (talk) 06:56, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

Transvestite or Trasngender
editYup, there really is a dispute over this. Who was Andy 'accidently' set up with? GoodDay (talk) 18:00, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
- He uses the term "transvestite", as does Jay. I can't say for certain whether the prostitute in question was transgender or not. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 19:26, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
- We've an IP who seems determined to edit war, rather then discussion the issue. GoodDay (talk) 20:26, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
- I'm sorry for edit warring. I should have discussed this on the talk page first and I appreciate the invitation to join the discussion here. Since @SNUGGUMS can't decide for certain whether the prostitute was transgender or a transvestite - and the language Andy and in his friends use in the film is used to demean trans women too - do you think the film summary should say they're a prostitute (rather than either) until we can find a reliable source to reach a consensus? Per WP:ONUS? I'm fine with that. 78.150.129.45 (talk) 21:39, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
- Simply saying "prostitute" with no other adjectives seems like a fair compromise for now and I have no qualms with that. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 21:51, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
