Plot section is nonsense
editThe plot section of this article is ungrammatical, overlong and confusing. I half-wondered if it was a parody when I first read through it. I would clean it up myself but I've never seen the movie.
More please
editCan we have a plot outline - review etc - rather dull as is! Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Talk!) 15:05, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- Feel free to add them. I've never been a big fan of the 'expand' tag. It just adds the article to a massive list of everything. The people who are most likely to be able to expand it are people who've stumbled across it naturally, like yourself. The JPS 16:14, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- The article's been expanded since the tag was put on, so I've removed it. --Hughcharlesparker 13:57, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
Controversy
editHello, I'm a german wikipedia-user. In Germany was the rumor, after the Columbine High School massacre, that this movie has been "prohibited" because of the dream scene in which he kills some pupils in a black trenchcoat and with a shotgun. True or a rumor? --87.174.93.253 03:29, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, DiCaprio actually apologized for this. (92.11.103.164 (talk) 23:00, 2 February 2008 (UTC))
- It's true that the movie contains a dream sequence in which a student opens fire on his fellow students in the classroom. I have never actually seen the movie, but I remember after Columbine the news media played clips of the dream sequence over and over. However, in the U.S. politicians can't go around banning movies like they do in China. There is the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which makes it difficult or impossible for parental, fascist-minded politicians to cause a movie to become "prohibited" just to "protect" or "shield" the public from a violent scene. Today the movie is still available, e.g., from Netflix. --Keith111 (talk) 00:19, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Carroll's Appearance
editIt strikes me as odd that nothing in the main article about this film mentions the appearance of Carroll himself in a small role. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.5.50.55 (talk) 06:12, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
