Credits issues

edit

It is unclear to me who plays the roles of Don Vito Garofalo and Paul Herdigher. IMDB doesn't clarify who played them, and the credits in the film (both at the beginning and the end) are unhelpful, as in the case of actors, it doesn't clarify their role in the film, only that they were in it. My attempting to find images of actors credited to the film online who could possibly be Don Garofalo or Herdigher and comparing them to their appearance in the film was unsuccessful. This is particularly odd as currently on the article, minor characters such as 'a killer' and the violinist from the drug-dealing musician troupe are credited, but not Don Garofalo, who was a major part of the overall plot. WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography banner reinstated

edit

@Cavarrone: I reinstated the WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography banner because this was removed without an explanation as why the banner is not relevant. According to WP:PROJSCOPE, WikiProject members determine which articles ought to be included in the relevant WikiProjects. Removal should not take place without a discussion as to why the banner is not relevant. In this case, the film portrays criminal behaviours, such as animal cruelty, murder, landlord-tenant abuse and deceptive behaviour. As there is no attribute in the WikiProject Film area that indicate the film involves criminal themes, editors have used the Crime and Criminal Biography WikiProject for that purpose. If you think this is the wrong approach, please explain your reasoning. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 09:36, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Cameron Dewe, you are acting as there was a previous discussion at Wikiproject or a consensus which I violated, when there isn't any. I was the one who originally added the wikiproject back in 2012, and there were no other people involved in the decision. As of 2024, I don't remember having seen any WP:CRIMEPROJ template in other articles about films in the same giallo genre, including the most important ones such as Deep Red or Blood and Black Lace, let alone in a giallo-comedy. Not even the main page about the genre, Giallo, as such a template, nor I have stumbled in such a template in other film articles of similar genres such as crime films, slasher films, thriller films, "horror" films a là American Psycho etc. (the exception being a few biographical films about criminals) so I removed it per consistency. If you feel it's appropriate to add such a template in these genre of films, feel free to add it to them, as 99,999% don't have them. Cavarrone 10:52, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Cavarrone: What WP:PROJSCOPE advises is that if an article already has a WikiProject banner, of any sort, It should not be removed unilaterally; its removal should be discussed, first. As you point out, Italian giallo genre films are generally are not included in the Crime WikiProject, and if that information had been included in the edit summary, the change would have been far more understandable, and I would have agreed with it. Thank you for providing an explanation for why the WikiProject banner should be removed. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 20:48, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Cavarrone: I have now removed the banner on the grounds that this genre of Italian Gallio films are generally not include in WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography, as per this discussion. Also WP:OVERBANNER means such banners can be omitted from articles where inclusion is of questionable value. Cameron Dewe (talk) 21:03, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Cameron Dewe, you are right, I should have used an edit summary, it's just that I used the WP:RATER script tool that doesn't allow edit summaries, and btw I didn't expect anyone to notice and disagree. Next time should something like this happen I will manually edit the page leaving a summary. Cavarrone 02:37, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I have noticed the edit summaries left by users using the Rater tool are fairly minimal. While the tool is good for adding and assessing WikiProject banners, WikiProject banner removals will often need a prior discussion or at least further explanation than Rater allows for. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 03:30, 18 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
