New Vinyl Version
editIn a moment, I will add info and links regarding the new vinyl release, or "green version", which contains a remix of Go Into the Water. —Preceding unsigned comment added by J-Head (talk • contribs) 06:35, 14 July 2008 (UTC) EDIT: Do not say that the remix is simply the version from the show without citation. Speedy delete
editI removed the speedy delete tag because Dethalbum is a confirmed album from Dethklok, who are in the notable TV show Metalocalypse. DarkSaber2k 12:33, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Hatredcopter
editBefore I go off deleting Hatredcopter from the list of songs Dethklok has performed, I will ask for your source on confirmation that Hatredcopter WILL be on DethAlbum. It's mentioned as confirmed on DethAlbum, mentioned as speculated on Hatredcopter (which in itself doesn't seem like a notable Wiki page), and isn't mentioned anywhere else with a source. The entire reason I started deleting it was because we can't get our facts straight on this song. --Sakaki22 19:37, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hatredcopter wasn't actually performed by DethKlok as in the fictional band, right? On the Saw III soundtrack it was just Brendan Small... —Preceding unsigned comment added by My friends call me capn (talk • contribs) 06:14, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- I know this has nothing to do what you are talking about exceot my question has to do with Hatredcopter. Who sings the chorus in Hatredcopter? It sounds nothing like Nathan Explosion. It sounds more like William Murderface. --Kylee20051 (talk) 16:05, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Read the liner notes. It says "(Pickles)" on the lyrics. Also the liner notes indeed claim that (in the fictional universe,) Hatredcopter was written by Dethklok and performed at Mordhaus Studios. I don't any of that needs to be in this article though. -Verdatum (talk) 17:40, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Careful analysis reveals that "Pickles" is actually Jame Hetfield of Metallica, who has done voice work for the show in the past. Unfortunately there are no sources on this which can be properly cited, so for now that fact cannot be added to the article.
- Careful analysis reveals that makes no sense. It sounds like Brendon Smalls doing the voice of Pickles. It sounds like Brendon Smalls from more than one song in Home Movies. Even accounting for schenanigans, there is no sense in bringing in James Hetfield just to do a dead-on Brendon Smalls impression. As you say, there are no sources saying it's Hetfield, so it doesn't matter anyway. -Verdatum (talk) 17:20, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Citation
editThe page used as a source seems to simply copy and paste information from Wikipedia, and the Dethklok MySpace blogs. I don't see how it can be used as an official source of information. Also, it seems to bear no mentioning to Hatredcopter on Dethalbum, as I talked about above. --Sakaki22 03:24, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Leaked Copy
editThe page mentions a leaked watermarked copy of the album available on the internet. Well, as of this morning (09/01/07), there is an unedited leaked version. Worth mentioning? And yes, Hatredcopter is on there. 74.101.94.18 23:05, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- It's the same as the first version except someone used an audio program to cut bits out. Not worth mentioning. = ∫tc 5th Eye 13:16, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- So...Why TELL people there's a leak and proliferate the downfall of the music industry? If they don't find it on their own then they don't deserve it. -Winter123 14:30, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Because leaks are sometimes notable occurrences; however in this case I don't really think it is. A more notable leak would be one where the band or label were taking extra precaution. = ∫tc 5th Eye 14:59, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Placement in stores
editDoes anybody know where we would find this album in a Best Buy or something? I mean, is it a Soundtrack, or is it an actual album that will be placed among the Rock/r&b section?--72.48.236.6 14:24, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
I'd call it an actual album being it's featuring new material and "finished", if you will, versions of the songs. FallenWings47 18:52, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
At Best Buy in Lenexa, KS, it was in the "Rock/Pop" section, under "D" for Dethklok (and not under "M" for Metalocalypse). And I got the last one. :-) (The blue one, not the red, but at least I got it.) And there was a guy with a blue copy in his hand at that moment pointing a girl to where they were, just after I grabbed mine. I didn't think it would be that popular...I guess neither did BB. ak 21:34, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Parental Advisory
editDoes anyone know if this album will have the Parental Advisory sticker? From hearing the songs from the show, there isn't any swearing. There is a bit of violence, though, and sometimes they will put a P.A. sticker on just for that. The sticker isn't on the album cover shown, I have not heard the leaked bootleg yet so I can't be sure, but can someone clear this up for me? My friends call me capn 05:59, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
I've heard the leak, and in the songs "Birthday Dethday" and "Face Fisted (New Phrygian Song)" the work "fuck" is used several times. I don't however, know if there is or is not a PA sticker. FallenWings47 18:24, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Hmm. I looked it up on the Target website, and it doesn't have a sticker on the album cover or in the description there... And the sticker is on the album cover for other albums that have the sticker, so that leads me to believe there is not a PA sticker. I am still not sure though. My friends call me capn 02:58, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
On the flash animation on DethKlok and Brendan Small's MySpaces, it says "Metalocalypse: DethKlok: The Dethalbum available at Target for $9.99 starting 9/25. Limited time only." and at the bottom it has a PA sticker. So I think it does have one. Still no sign on the Target website though. My friends call me capn 05:32, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
It does have the P.A. sticker. I've seen a pic on someone's MySpace who works at Best Buy and is holding one of the copies they have in the back that they can't sell. I won't link to protect the person's privacy. My friends call me capn 21:30, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
- Bought it today, it does have the PA sticker on it. KyuzoGator 18:31, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- The iTunes store is carrying Dethalbum in both guises. Oddly enough, the normal (blue) version has no PA, but the deluxe (red) version does have it. They even put those dopey red "explicit" boxes next to every song. As far as I can tell, the songs are the same length and indeed the same songs until you get down to the bonus stuff, so it doesn't seem as if the bonus material triggered that since all the songs are tagged as explicit and not just the bonus ones. Radio Play
editDoes anybody know if any song on here is gonna get some air time?--72.48.236.6 14:25, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Well I know it's not what you mean but "Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle" (the show version; which at this point seems that the album version is about the same time as the show version, but I do not know if they made any changes on the album version) has been played on the radio. FallenWings47 15:49, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
They announced on Adult Swim last night, before the premiere that Bloodrocuted was going to be getting rotation on MTV. This leads me to believe it will be a single. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.169.138.120 (talk) 19:05, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Pickles in Hatredcopter
editShould it be noted that pickles has vocals in the song Hatredcopter? I don't see who else could be singing the chorus, and it sounds exactly like when he sang for Snakes 'n' Barrels. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.148.73.70 (talk) 01:40, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I'd say so too. I've also heard he (Pickles) does lead vocals on the song "Kill You" FallenWings47 21:17, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- I'm about 98% sure that the other vocalist in Hatredcopter is James Hetfield from Metallica, however it is not credited in the liner notes. KyuzoGator 15:32, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
If it's not stated in the linear notes, and there is no statement from either James Hetfield or Brendon Small(and/or their "people"), then I am about 99.99% sure that it is not James Hetfield. My friends call me capn 01:31, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- Gee, maybe that's why I posted it in the Talk page and not in the actual article. If it's not Hetfield, it's someone doing a damn good imitation. KyuzoGator 04:51, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm almost positive the only vocalist on Hatredcopter is Brendon Small, doing vocals for both of the characters Pickles and Nathan Explosion. 134.29.33.13 15:25, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- I second that. FallenWings47 16:10, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe the user who though it was James Hetfield was mistaking it for the Pickles vocals? 134.29.33.15 18:10, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, let's get something straight. "Pickles" is not a real person. "Dethklok" is not a real band. It's Brendan Small and whatever guest musicians he's working with at that moment. Compare the "Pickles" lyrics on "Kill You" with those on "Hatredcopter" and then watch the Metalocalypse episode "Snakes and Barrels." There is a different person singing in each case, even though they are all supposedly "Pickles" (who again is a CARTOON CHARACTER and not a real person). Like I said before, if it's not James Hetfield in "Hatredcopter" it's someone doing a damn good impersonation of his voice. KyuzoGator 14:12, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe the user who though it was James Hetfield was mistaking it for the Pickles vocals? 134.29.33.15 18:10, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Nothing would make me happier than James singing on Hatredcopter, or any other song. Unfortunately, it's not true. In the liner notes of the album, where they very nicely printed the lyrics to all the songs, when it comes to the chorus of Hatredcopter, it specifically says "[Pickels]" followed by the chorus lyrics. That means, ofcourse, that that's his part to sing, and that it's not James. Good internet rumor, though. Maybe there's some small chance I'm wrong (fingers crossed), and that they just put [Pickles] to show he was singing, but then just brought in James for Pickles' part. Yeah... uh-huh... Wilhelm Screamer 22:28, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Okay then, do me a favor. Listen to "Pickles" on Hatredcopter, then listen to "Pickles" on Kill You. Not the same singer, ain't no way. "Pickles" is not a real person...he is a character in a cartoon, and it is not inconceivable that two different people are protraying that character's voice. I don't know if the other vocalist on Hatredcopter is Hetfield, because the liner notes credit it to "Pickles." It wouldn't be the first time a star did an uncredited cameo on an album. KyuzoGator 18:56, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- In the linear notes, it credits Brendon Small (first of all "BRENDON" not "Brendan") with All Vocals, Guitars, Bass Guitars and Keyboards. So for the actual artist, it's Brendon Small and the only other artists on the album are Gene Hoglan (drums) and Emilie Autumn (violin on "Detharmonic") and then for the virtual artist Pickles does sing in "Hatredcopter", "Kill You" and Snakes n' Barrels. "Kill You" and Snakes n' Barrels are a given, but then as was stated above, it does say Pickles in the "Hatredcopter" lyrics. FallenWings47 18:51, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- There's a reason why this conversation is taking place on the Talk page instead of the main article. To my knowledge no one has posted that Hetfield is the other vocalist on Hatredcopter. I've never claimed it is Hetfield, I said it is either him or someone doing an awesome imitation of him. My problem is with the people saying "it was Pickles" when Pickles is not a real person. Pickles is a character whose voice could be (and is, as far as I'm concerned) provided by several different people. The singing voice of "Pickles" has so far varied from one like Hetfield's (Hatredcopter), to one like Axl Rose (Snakes n' Barrels) to a really high-pitched one (Kill You). It very well could be BRENDON (sorry to offend you with my spelling) Small doing all three voices, but the fact remains that Pickles' voice varies dramatically pretty much every time "he" sings. KyuzoGator 15:09, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- This is a message for KyuzoGator. Your first comment in this section was that you were "about 98% sure that the other vocalist in Hatredcopter is James Hetfield from Metallica." It was then pointed out that Brendon Small does all the vocals for this song, acting as both Nathan Explosion and Pickles (two cartoon characters from the show). I referred to one performance as "the Pickles vocals" in order to clarify which of the two performances by Brendon Small I was talking about. I never meant to imply Pickles was a real person, and I refuse to believe you thought you were doing me a favor by explaining this. Also, all vocals attributed to Pickles were performed by Brendon Small. It may be shocking that these performances were so different, but keep in mind that he does work as a voice actor and it's his job to be able to perform various voices. In your lower-most comment on this page, you said that, to your knowledge, "no one has posted that Hetfield is the other vocalist on Hatredcopter." But you had said you were 98% sure, which is arguably a misleading comment. There's no way you could have been 98% sure. You simply thought it sounded like James Hetfield. Others have repeatedly stated that it is Brendon Small and James Hetfield does not appear on the album. There are multiple characters that give vocal performances on this album, but there is only one living, breathing person. And it is not James Hetfield. It is Brendon Small. 134.29.6.7 19:34, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- KyuzoGator, you're perfectly entitled to your opinion. However, this is an encyclopedia. It deals with provable facts. we can't use "It reeely reeely reeely sounds like hetfield" is Original Research which is not welcome on WP. If you can find a reputable source claiming that it's Hetfield, we can say "the liner notes state it's Pickles, but according to adultswim.com it's Hetfield working under a pseudonym to dodge the Musicians Guild" or something like that. And yeah, we all know these entities are fictional, but much of the liner notes are written within the realm of the fictional universe so it's just easier to discuss things that way, ease up. (and for what it's worth, I don't think it sounds remotely like Hetfield (old or new school Metallica). I think it sounds like Brendon Smalls doing the voice of pickles. He's used a very similar voice many times in music for Home Movies as well.) -Verdatum (talk) 17:11, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Two-disc Special Edition
editAre the songs on the second disc new rerecorded versions of "Duncan Hills Coffee", "Blood Ocean", "Murdertrain A Comin'", and "Hatredy", or is it just the versions they have on the show or the mp3's they released? My friends call me capn 04:21, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
I would assume they're full length songs like the rest of The Dethalbum, otherwise they probably wouldn't have as many sales. FallenWings47 22:39, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- That'd be a bitch, wouldn't it?--72.183.47.235 03:50, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
"The album features full-length, and remade songs from the TV show (different to the one minute, fading out songs in the show and on the Dethklok Myspace) as well as previously unreleased tracks." DreamsofTacos 04:46, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, Dreamsoftacos, but I think that was referring to the actual album, not the bonus disc that comes with the double-disc edition. My friends call me capn 23:05, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
I second that. FallenWings47 21:18, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
"Blood Ocean" and "Hatredy" are both significantly longer than the Mp3s they released, so most likely they are also new recorded versions. My friends call me capn 00:45, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Well they're all most likely newly recorded. If you've heard the new "Deththeme", "Thunderhorse" or "Hatredcopter", I have a feeling that's the kind of thing they did/are doing for "Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle". FallenWings47 09:06, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes, they are new recorded versions. I heard them on YouTube. My friends call me capn 04:22, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Snakes N' Barrels
editI have heard a rumor that the song "Kill You" (on the second disc of the deluxe) is written and performed by the fictional band from the show, Snakes `N'Barrels. In the linear notes part, it credits the song to "Pickles, Snizzy Snazz Bullets, Tony Thunderbottom, and Sammy Twinskins." I don't remember whether these are the names of the band members from Snakes N' Barrels, but is there any citing in the actual CD booklet? —Preceding unsigned comment added by My friends call me capn (talk • contribs) 01:27, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
"kill you" WAS written by Snakes `n' Barrels but NOT performed by them. dethklok performed it with pickles at lead singer. There is a citing in the book which is "All songs written by DETHKLOK Except "KILL YOU" written by Pickles, Snizzy Snazz Bullets, Tony Thunderbottom, and Sammy Twinskins." Dethfan216 18:13, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Thunderhorse is NOT Version from Guitar Hero II
editI removed this reference, as it is not true. The version on Dethalbum has been previously unreleased and is clearly not what appears in GH2. KyuzoGator 18:28, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
Deluxe Edition not selling anymore!
editI checked amazon.com, and it would seem that all of the deluxe editions have not been sold, not even to those who pre-ordered back on the first that it first came on amazon.com. It would seem that Williams Street Records has not given many (if any) of them to amazon.com. The page on the target website has been completely removed. Needless to say, people are pretty pissed that they couldn't get their hands on one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Finest1 (talk • contribs) 01:32, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
That was kind of unclear. Does this mean that they are not putting the deluxe versoin up for sale anymore, or that the deluxe version is not selling in the sense that people are not buying it? My friends call me capn 01:52, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- I have the deluxe edition, I got it from best buy. Skeeker [Talk] 02:44, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Apparently they recalled it. It could just be an internet rumor, let me do a little more investigating... My friends call me capn 00:56, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
No. According to DethKlok's new blog, they just sold out on the first day, so they are making more copies to be out soon. They also hinted(in the same blog) about puttting the double bass action back into Go Into the Water. My friends call me capn 01:37, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
I suppose that could be true, I ordered it but it is on back order. I see the normal editions all over, I ordered te deluxe knowing it was on back order, but for just two dollars more than the regular one it is worth the wait. Skeeker [Talk] 02:12, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, that shows me--Finest1 22:21, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
"Shortages" Section
editThis section should be edited and probably cited. Someone could cite their MySpace message saying the Deluxe Edition sold out on the first day, if that is what it says. Also, the current text implies that someone bought a copy for $300, which I find hard to believe. When I looked on amazon.com last night, the lowest price was $79, and I doubt anyone would actually buy one for $300 if there are lower prices listed. 134.29.33.13 15:20, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- I agree there should be a citation of some kind there. Certainly someone has or will soon write an article about it in a newspaper or in an industry mag like Rolling Stone or one of the many featuring the word Guitar in the title. I can believe that some idiot with no patience blew $300 on it - look at the silly amount of cheese people were dropping on iPhones a couple months ago. But regardless of how believable it is or is not, we should still cite something to substantiate it. Highonhendrix 15:21, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- I guess I do believe someone could spend $300 on it, but what I meant was that the lowest price on amazon.com was $79 and the highest was $300. Just because someone listed it for $300 doesn't mean he's going to get it. If you could pay $79 or $300, what one would you buy? I could list one on amazon for $800 dollars, but that doesn't mean it's a realistic price. 134.29.33.15 18:10, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Amazon is a mainstream retailer, they don't jack up prices just because there's a shortage. Especially not when the album is available on iTunes for like $10, what would be the point? KyuzoGator 19:00, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- I was referring to the individuals selling it through Amazon. I never explicitly stated Amazon was listing it at this price. 134.29.6.7 19:37, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
I have changed this section so that it makes more sense. Then I noticed my edit had been reverted. Please do not revert the edit again unless you can explain why you're doing it. 216.114.201.147 03:26, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- It is very important to note that Amazon itself is not selling Dethalbum for those high prices, the prices are posted by secondary retailers that Amazon links to. KyuzoGator 15:21, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- * This has already been clarified. 134.29.6.7 19:37, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

spelling of "deth(h)armonic"
editIt seems there is going to be a controversy on this because, although on the back covers of both editions both have the extra "h" included but, if you were to open the book of both editions and look at the lyrics it only has the one "h". I've also found that [as] dethalbum page uses the "HH". [1] Not only that, when reading through the lyrics themselves there seems to be quite a handful of typos. So WTF do we do now? Highest charted Death Metal?
editI'd Really like to see a reference for this claim. I hypothesized that this could happen when I first heard of plans for this album, but I don't know if any other death metal has done better. -Verdatum (talk) 02:16, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
No it haven't. Only Blooddrunk and Watershed came close charting respectively one and two positions behind. Haxxiy (talk) 20:01, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Problem with using reliable sources
editSometimes reviewers will say that a band is death metal while some others would use their specific genre. The problem with this is the band is wrongfully called death metal because the reviewer (e.g. an MTV one) doesn't know there's an actual genre out there called melodic death metal and the failure for them to recognize this is the very reason for my edit. I'm well aware of WP:OR but when an "expert" says Nile are death metal doesn't mean they are just so. They have their specific place in death metal with their own subgenre and it would be extremely misleading. I'll let you know I'm not trying to "fly over the facts" as I've been here for quite some time maybe longer than 'you' have though 'you' may have the same thoughts but recognized it as "OR" 137.124.9.20 (talk) 23:44, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- Naturally, some sources my be wrong. But the solution to that is to find other sources that express the alternative view. Personally, I think subgenre pidgeonholing is very silly. It's metal. What kind of metal? It's Dethklok metal. That's good enough for me. -Verdatum (talk) 15:00, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
