See also section?

Is it necessary to include WeCrashed in this section? It just feels weird to include it there. Philipnelson99 (talk) 05:14, 17 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Per MOS:ALSO, articles linked should be related to the topic of the article or be in the same defining category. It seemed unnecessary. — YoungForever(talk) 05:37, 17 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
@YoungForever agreed. If you don't mind, I may remove that section. Although it might be a good idea to instead link to The Dropout (podcast). Philipnelson99 (talk) 02:00, 18 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
I have no objection on removing WeCrashed. — YoungForever(talk) 03:35, 18 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Okay, cool! Philipnelson99 (talk) 19:18, 18 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
The two shows have been mentioned in conjunction in a few articles together due to their release date and subject matter. I'll expand upon their similarities below:
  1. Both shows are 2022 American miniseries based on podcasts (The Dropout (podcast), WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall)
  2. Both shows are about 21st century unicorn companies that were embroiled in financial controversy
  3. Both shows are about controversial founders (Elizabeth Holmes, Andy Neumann)
I think that based on this list, linking both articles in a See Also section is appropriate. — BriefEdits (talk) 16:38, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
None of similarities are even related to the miniseries themselves nor in the same defining category. FYI, there are a bunch of TV series and miniseries articles based on podcasts, but that doesn't mean we are going to link every single TV series and miniseries articles on the See Also section. — YoungForever(talk) 17:12, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Maybe I did a poor job at representing my poinst; they aren't meant to be taken separately. I feel like they are in the same category because 1+2+3. See:
  • From WSJ, “[WeCrashed is] the third drama about Icarus-like tech founders to debut in the space of a month. Hulu’s “The Dropout” (starring Amanda Seyfried as Theranos’s Elizabeth Holmes) and Showtime’s “Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber ”
  • From AV Club, "Disgraced disruptors Elizabeth Holmes, Travis Kalanick, and Adam Neumann are making headlines again as Hulu’s The Dropout, Showtime’s Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber, and Apple TV+’s WeCrashed adapt the ex-CEOs’ oustings into episodic character studies—all starring A-list actors."
  • From NY Times, With limited series like “The Dropout,” “WeCrashed” and “Super Pumped,” the culture is saturated with ripped-from-the-headlines tales of self-immolating moguls.
However, after some consideration, I might just incorporate the links into the articles instead of using a See Also section. — BriefEdits (talk) 21:03, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Still not a defining category to be added on the See Also section. Based on your points, we would be adding every single TV series and miniseries articles that are remotely similar to one another (the similarities you stated) to the See Also section which would be excessively long and pointless. — YoungForever(talk) 21:33, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
@YoungForever:I think it would be useful for me if you could expand upon your definition of a "defining category". Perhaps there is an official Wikipedia page that I'm missing, but I'm not sure if we're on the same page here. — BriefEdits (talk) 23:30, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please do not ping me. I am aware this discussion. You are missing the points here. None of the miniseries have ties with one another. They are not sister companies, do not have the same founders and executive members, and the only people facing prison time are Elizabeth Holmes and Sunny Balwani of Theranos. Each of the miniseries are about different companies. — YoungForever(talk) 23:48, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Noted. — BriefEdits (talk) 04:37, 24 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

The Dropout (miniseries)The Dropout – This might be a premature request, but I believe this miniseries has received enough traffic compared to The Dropout (podcast), to be considered WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. vistadan 17:10, 25 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
