Dawnguard
I've added the reference to DLC in a new section under "Development." That seems to match how it was done for Oblivion. More data to come, to be sure.
edit request 6/29/2012: The Vampire Lord power is not a "Demon" as stated in the article. This needs to be removed because it is inacurate.
June 6th, 2012- Bethesda has revealed the beta version of dawnguard for the xbox 360 will be released next week and the actual content itself will hopefully (quoted by Matt) be released on the 26th of this month. Also, the entirety of Oblivion does not belong to him. He doesn't even own a thirteenth of it. It might just be a grammatical error, but if it could be fixed, it'd be much appreciated. It's in the Dawnguard section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.25.66.19 (talk) 03:05, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Online Resources Area
It would really be nice to have an online resources area for links to web apps that can enhance a user's ability to play the game... such as
Online Resources
Darren Maurer's Skyrim Alchemy Mentor
- This web application is the only one found where a user could enter the amount of each ingredient they have, and it will automatically show you how many of each potion to make for maximum profit. This method is found by using the 'advanced' tab on the linked above. This site is is fast as it uses no javascript or any plugins at all so it can even be used on all cellphones. It was created by a random gamer, who is also a web developer, and posted on his company's web page for all to use.

Arrow meme
Can somebody expand "Reception"?
- I Took An Arrow in the Knee - Non-player characters in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim repeat the line: "I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow in the knee". The latter part of this phrase quickly took off as a meme in the form of "I used to X, but then I took an arrow in the knee" with numerous image macros and video parodies created, and soon became overused and considered an annoyance; it was mentioned in an episode of NCIS.[1][2][3]
- This could be the basis to a popular culture section Bobfordsgun (talk) 13:36, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
Arrow-to-the-knee-joke
The line the guard says is: "I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow to the knee"
Can someone please replace the "in" with a "to" in the lowest section "Popular Culture"? It's a small mistake I'd like to see fixed. --Restcoser (talk) 10:52, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
DoneThanks for catching that. - SudoGhost 13:45, 26 June 2012 (UTC)- Actually it was reverted by another editor, and upon doing some research last night with the game (i.e. playing Dawnguard all night), I saw that the line is indeed "in the knee" in the game itself. - SudoGhost 17:20, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Dawnguard plot section
Should the Dawnguard section have a plot summary? Bobfordsgun (talk) 09:13, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
- It possibly could since Fallout 3 and New Vegas have their DLC plots explained. SG2090 00:36, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

- Merge, but let's not make it too long. SG2090 16:40, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
How many legs does a dragon have?
I thought dragons were supposed to have 4 legs and 2 wings like the dragon in dragonheart. All of Skyrim's dragons have 2 legs and 2 wings, more like a teradactyl. Also, where are the multi-headed dragons? Those'd be cool.89.100.48.115 (talk) 21:11, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Skyrim is plagued with bugs
I see a "technical issues" section in the article which is borderline superfluous (just lists patch version # and date released, provides no real substantial content). This title has been nominated as Game of the Year by so many different publishers, yet it is just downright plagued by bugs on every platform. Yes, this is a huge game, but the number of bugs is ridiculous. Kokatu has some coverage on this, but can we possibly expand upon this section using this source and others?

- We already discussed this issue and decided to modify the section to what it currently is (an overview of the most common problems on each platform and some information about patches). If you look at this you will see the discussion that was had. Yes it was a month and a half ago and so it could use some minor updating, but the top half (the most common bugs at launch) does not need modifying. Sincerely, Akjar13 (He's Gone Mental) 09:01, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
That is interesting thanks for the discussion link, it's a shame that what in many aspects is such a great game is over-the-top ridiculous when it comes to glitches and quest-crashing bugs. Patch version 1.4 for Skyrim is being released, so I guess some mention of it and the problems it addresses (and in turn creates) in the Wikipedia article would be decent to keep it current. Here is a link to an article published yesterday by IGN about the failings of Skyrim:

---Dave W you comments seem to lack a NPOV For example "over-the-top ridiculous". From what standpoint? This was already discussed and many felt the "bugs" section "over-the-top ridiculous". I own the game and I am not partial to it in anyway, but after over 50 hours and I know and talk to several people who also played as much, beaten the game, on multiple platforms. I have had 3 crashes in all after 50+ hours on my PC. I was also watch netflix or flash videos in my browsers which may or may not have caused or contributed. All in all the point is the heart of wikipedia is NPOV. Are your edits from that stance? Again with comments like "over-the-top ridiculous" I would say not.--0pen$0urce (talk) 21:50, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
I have to agree with Dave W. I don't do a lot of gaming, especially on the XBox, but I love XBox:Skyrim and its open ended world. I think that Bethesda has learned a lot from previous Elder Scrolls games; the gameplay changes in Skyrim are all very nice improvements.
HOWEVER, the game is extremely buggy. Virtually every quest outlined on the unofficial user wiki http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim has a section on the bugs and possible workarounds for that quest. The complete list of bugs and workarounds must clearly be in the thousands. Also, people calling Bethesda after patch releases were informed that while many issues were fixed, you need to restart the game from the beginning if you have already messed up in certain areas. Apparently, some bugs are due to configuration issues with your game save data.
I have a character that is about level 50 that cannot approach 3 locations without the XBox freezing up. The game freezes about 10% of the time when I go through my house door. I have a list of broken and unplayable quests so long it fills the screen. Granted, this was after also successfully completing well over 100 quests. It got to the point that I could not play for more than 20-40 minutes without a freeze (sometimes 5 in 5 minutes). After the latest patch came out (1.4) I restarted the game with a new character and have had very few issues (the character is at level 20, but has performed no official quests).
I have also been a professional computer programmer for over 33 years, so it amazes me that you can even create code this complex and creative, but I would certainly approve of better beta testing with the next installment of Elder Scrolls. I'm sure you would get a lot of volunteers! Zed Orkin (talk) 00:21, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks Zed. In response to 0pen$0urce, I was referring to the console version, not the PC version. It is my understanding that on the PC version, you can just open up a screen a type in a command to fix the glitch. This is simply not possible on the XBOX or PS3. Yes, the bugs are over-the-top ridiculous. The bugs in Skyrim are so numerous, if anything my comment is an understatement. ;) --Dave W
- Appreciate your response, still you didn't address the other concern I raised with NPOV, are you coming from a neutral stance? Basically if your coming to vent your frustrations of the game, I recommend the steam or Bestheda websites and customer service and forums--0pen$0urce (talk) 23:59, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
- In all fairness the bug issue occurs when a user doesn't do things properly or does something game breaking. Certain ones are specific to scenes and others are based on what you've done before that point. Freezing in general has been reported to be what you've done and what is going on in the world. Bugs to a great many quests have been known for the PC do to the heavy use of mods and it shows how to reset or complete something that was bugged. Early on the freezing and bugs were numerous, but not so much anymore. I don't believe we need any more on its past buggyness then we currently do in the article. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 15:29, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
LOL @ Chris Gualtieri. This is the most bug-infested console game I've ever played in my life. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the game player playing the game "properly". Please don't tell me you're astroturfing, because implying that the "user" is doing something wrong is nothing short of offensive. If anything we need to expand this section. Bethesda released a patch (1.4) which corrected a very small fraction of bugs. Don't get me wrong, this is a great game, but it's painfully obvious that this game was rushed out the door before the gameplay testing division could give it the attention it needed AND STILL NEEDS.
You also said "Early on the freezing and bugs were numerous, but not so much anymore." Do you have a citation for this? I would love to read about how console players are no longer impacted by the dozens upon dozens of quest-breaking bugs in this game. Really. --Dave W — Preceding unsigned comment added by David Winthrope 2012 (talk • contribs) 18:21, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- Bugs the saga continues. I dunno Played the PC version since launch through and through. Aside from a rare crash I had no issue. I am not arguing the point that the game had some issues. However fine line between encyclopedic information and people coming here because they fail to distinguish from a game review site, blog, forum, customer service form, etcetera etcetera to a online encyclopedia. Point being the section exists, most of the most widely reported bugs are mentioned. TIME TO MOVE ON. That this is game the most buggy rushed to market is a opinion at best, wah wah wah material lacks relevance here and is better suited again for a gam forum, blog, review... --0pen$0urce (talk) 20:43, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
^ Opensource, I don't think you are being entirely fair on some of the other posters here, most of whom have listed valid concerns regarding the number of bugs within Skyrim, some of whom have even gone to the trouble of finding suitable sources to cite. If I had the means to do so, I would happily submit my game save file (for X360) and you can see for yourself how Vilkas will never leave my side because of the bug in the Dragon Seekers quest, how I am locked out of the Thieves' Guild quest line plus a litany of other quests I cannot complete because of one random glitch or another (and that's without counting the multitude of other glitches that aren't game-breaking). Granted I cannot provide verifiable information regarding this (though you could always read The Elder Scrolls Wiki, which as another poster pointed out, gives details of each quests, seemingly most of which have 'known issues'), but anybody who has played Skyrim for an extended period of time will tell you that the number of glitches associated with a save file will increase the longer it is played (especially once you get to the 100-200 hour mark). Given that other posters have included verifiable sources, I don't see a good reason for not including them (IGN, Kotaku, Elder Scrolls Wiki). 90.210.26.63 (talk) 18:21, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Edit Request 07 May 2012
The patch section mentions only the positive side of patch 1.5. I'm requesting an update. Sailing the internet learns many players, including me, experience new bugs and even more crashes again. Some of us, maybe many of us, even give up playing. Secondly, IGN was cited about Skyrim having infinite quests. The quote I feel is suspicious to begin with because it's easy to calculate such claim is impossible having basic knowledge of the game. 150 "dungeons" and a bunch of cities and towns. Each city/dungeon has an average of say max 2 quests. It's still impressive, but claiming it to be unlimited is sheer nonsense. I'm requesting that the claim is being removed. The fact that IGN said so doesn't mean it is automatically worthy of Wiki-attention. If it is, I consider myself experienced and would like to point to my own blog entry (work in progress but the message is clear): http://vbhsp.blogspot.com/2012/05/skyrim-sucks-dick.html. I hope it's worthy of Wiki attention, next to the IGN quotes and other big boys who think this is the best game ever and whatnot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.169.106.131 (talk) 21:07, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
The game does technically have unlimited quests. Bounty quests are repeatable as well as various side quests within factions that you can complete over and over. For example clear a dungeon of it's inhabitants for the companions. Later on you'll get the quest again for a different dungeon. The main problem is a hell of a lot of the bounty quests are now bugged for me. The only cities I can actually take bounty quests in are Markarth and Falkreath. That's mainly down to the respawning bug, which thankfully hasn't broken any main questlines for me yet (ALTHOUGH IT CAN !!). I also am starting to experience really frequent freezing (twice in one night last night). I have a save file of around 17MB with around 294 hours of game time. I started experience freezing around the 130 hour mark in loading screens, I cleared my cache and it worked well until the 200 hour mark when it started just freezing when walking around the wilderness or sometimes even in dungeons. I'm beginning to get very worried, I haven't even completed the main quest or any of the guild questlines. I certainly won't be buying any DLC if I can't even play it with my current character, there is NO WAY I'm starting all over again after spending 294 hours of my life crafting the one character.. That said I love the game and would still give it a perfect score, I just wish I'd waited a few months after release to play it so I could have started with the patched versions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.104.207.207 (talk) 17:26, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
^ Yes bounty quests are repeatable, but given that there are only a finite number of possibilities for each quest (quest multiplied by a limited number of locations), the claim of "unlimited quests" simply isn't true: If you try repeating bounty quests in one of the holds (e.g. Whiterun), you will soon find you are killing bandits, giants, etc in all the same locations as you had been asked to previously! The same principle can be applied to any of the generic quests for the Jarls, guilds, etc. 90.210.26.63 (talk) 17:50, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
^_^ I came here specifically to edit the article but it appears I cannot. There are over 540 known bugs in Skyrim, very few of them have been patched, and many of them prevent completion of major questlines. Reference: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1297205-unofficial-buglist/ and this is clearly noteworthy. Lekoshe (talk) 03:29, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
- Nope, any particular blog's opinion is not noteworthy against the major press. Wikipedia is not a platform to vent anger or support something you like. WP reports on the reactions of the established critics or media. So it doesn't matter what you or I think about this game, whether the bugs kill it or not, we refer to established secondary sources only here. Any calculations how many quests there are are Original Research and discouraged here. Yes, life's unfair, and Wikipedia even more so, but if the media think this is a kiss from god, Wikipedia will report it. --Ulkomaalainen (talk) 01:36, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Alduin is not a dragon god, he is simply a dragon, as although he is immortal he can be killed, as shown in the main storyline.
Edit Request, August 6th 2012
"The Jarl refuses to allow the player to utilize Dragonsreach and possibly endanger the city if the civil war between the Stormcloaks and the Imperial Legion still rages. With the help of the Greybeards, the player calls a council between General Tullius and Ulfric Stormcloak, successfully calling for a temporary armistice while the Dragon threat exists." - This is dependant on the player's progress in the Civil War questline, and only occurs if the war is still in full-swing. I would suggest the following wording instead.
"At this time, if the civil war between the Stormcloaks and the Imperial Legion still wages, the Jarl refuses the player to utilize Dragonsreach for fear of the city's safety. The player may either side with the Stormcloaks or Empire and assist them in winning the war, or with the help of the Greybeards can call a council between General Tullius and Ulfric Stormcloak and agree for a temporary armistice until Alduin is defeated."

Point out at some point that the dragons are actually Wyverns due to the fact that dragons are supposed to have 4 legs, while Wyverns have 2, like the "Dragons" in Skyrim. This was done due to difficulties with creating a 6 limbed beast.

To be fair, if the Dragons in Skyrim were actually Wyverns, Bethesda probably would have named them Wyverns. Dragons and Wyverns are both mytholgical creatures, nitpicking over the amount of legs they have is silly, it's just an artistic representation of an imaginary giant lizard. You could add a bit more about groups you could join and what you can get if you join. Like, the dark brotherhood. You can get special armor by joining the dark brotherhood and thieves guild. If you work a bit harder in the thieves guild you can become a nightingale. (special armor also) It could go like this- (You can also get magical armor by joining the Thieves Guild and The Dark Brotherhood. This will make you stealthier and able to pickpocket or sneak up on someone easier and quicker. If you do enough assigned quests in the Thieves Guild, you can get better armor, weapons, and become a nightingale.) I do not have any resource pages, sorry about that.

- Not done: please make your request in a "change X to Y" format. Also, that doesn't seem appropriate for an encyclopedia entry. Jackmcbarn (talk) 03:29, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
- While yes it that is a bit too far for an encyclopedia, there should be a mention of the types of guilds in the game under the gameplay section. Guilds take up a large portion of the game, and are equal to the main story.—CKY2250 ταικ 03:37, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
Typographical Error in 3rd Paragraph of Article

There is a typo in the following sentence of the 3rd paragraph of the article: (Bold word indicates error) Skyrim was a critical and commercial success, shipping over 7 million copies to retailers within the first week of release and went on to sale over 20 million copies across all platforms.
Should change 'sale' to 'sell'. Maxis21 (talk) 09:56, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Comment - While I am not a significant or even minor contributor to this page, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to review this article. I will begin the process shortly. DARTHBOTTO talk•cont 01:29, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
Lead
- While well-written, this portion should include additional details, considering the scope of this game. The mention of the downloadable content and expansion packs should be moved to the first paragraph, with the additional emphasis upon the dates of release. See The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for a good example.
- Done CR4ZE (t) 09:10, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- In the same lieu of my last comment, that second paragraph looks a little familiar... I must insist that the second paragraph receives a good rewrite with the same information, as it's currently a copy-paste treatment.
- Done CR4ZE (t) 09:10, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- The third paragraph should include some of the development aspects, such as the time frame and new features. Following this should be the critical reception portion in its current form.
- Done CR4ZE (t) 09:10, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
Gameplay
- I'd suggest having the gameplay image earlier in this section and on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Done - I've moved it up and to the left but I can't help feeling like it looks a little clumsy that high up. Tell me if you like it where it is. CR4ZE (t) 12:47, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- While listing the races, it should be in the format of, "one of several races, including..." This gives a greater degree of specificity and flows better.
- Done CR4ZE (t) 12:47, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- Weapons such as the bow and arrow combination is discussed with "the bow and arrow" designation. Perhaps all weapons should be discussed with minimal specificity, without "the", and with "a". This way, everything is more of a classification.
- Done CR4ZE (t) 12:47, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- A major component of the NPC experience is that creatures in the environment interact with one another via fighting. It would be good to mention this around the topic of dragons and their interactions with others.
- Done - Although the way I've written it maybe makes the sentence a little awkward. How would you feel if I changed "the player" to "players" throughout the section? CR4ZE (t) 12:47, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- There may be merit in that approach. I'd say give it a go and see if it flows better. I don't see much wrong with what you've implemented, but if you feel uncomfortable, I'll support your inclination. DARTHBOTTO talk•cont 21:09, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- Done - Although the way I've written it maybe makes the sentence a little awkward. How would you feel if I changed "the player" to "players" throughout the section? CR4ZE (t) 12:47, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- I was going to suggest reducing the details about the player's interactions with guards and the mentioning of bounties. However, I've come to realize that this is a core part of the experience, so it may remain.
- Overall, this is a reasonably well-written section.
Plot
- My biggest suggestion would be to rename it "Synopsis" and to split it into the subsections of "Characters", "Setting" and "Plot". I understand, this is a deviation from Oblivion, but I feel that the distinction of prominent players such as Alduin, Paarthurnax and others warrants further emphasis.
- Not done I don't know that we need two whole sections away from the Plot just to help the reader understand it. I propose an alternative, and that is to provide a more comprehensive opening paragraph (perhaps splitting it off as "Premise" or something similar). But really, the opening sentences of the Plot section place the reader inside the game world, and establish that the plot is framed by the civil war. I can't see how I'd need to get into more detail. CR4ZE (t) 02:29, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- Well, if there's not enough to go off of to fulfill my suggestion, I suppose we can let it lie. DARTHBOTTO talk•cont 04:04, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

- The Characters section would give further distinction to the voice actors and the characters they portray, rather than the simple list format of the development section.
- If you try and find that the characters and cast cannot constitute a full section, let me know.
- The Characters section would give further distinction to the voice actors and the characters they portray, rather than the simple list format of the development section.
- Done Given that the cast is portrayed by notable figures, I have added a voice cast list. I have not, however, gone into the development and characterisation of each role as I haven't uncovered any information to do so. CR4ZE (t) 02:29, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- The information for the Setting section is already present, so it would largely be a question of reorganization above all else.
- This is a comment that should correlate with the rest of the article, but is "Dragon" capitalized?
- Done In the context of the game, Dragons are treated as a race of characters. As such I have capitalised all instances of "Dragon". CR4ZE (t) 02:29, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- This section has no references. Find a link to the official Prima game guide and utilize that for every paragraph.
- Done Cited Prima's eGuide. I don't have issues numbers etc. from the print version so this was the best I could do. CR4ZE (t) 02:29, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Development
- I would divide this section into "Concept", "Design" and "Audio". To do this, split the content already present into "Concept and "Design", then incorporate the materials of the "Music" section as the "Audio" subsection for this.
- This section is pretty poorly organized, as it discusses the technical specifications before the actual design process. For example, the paragraph about the team deciding that the game should be set in Skyrim should be mentioned early on as a probable second paragraph for the proposed "Concept" subsection.
- The System Requirements box should be put at the top of the "Development" section, before any real written content is provided.
- Much of this section discusses what the game currently has, rather than an emphasis upon the process of reaching this state. Discussing what powers the game is appropriate, but what is imperative is that this section is organized arduously.
- Please take everything that correlates with "Concept" and "Design" and separate it accordingly. The information is there, just the organization isn't. This is imperative before further critique may be provided.
Comment: Before I go ahead on your points, have a look at this diff. I could set the section out like this instead. Do you think it'd look more organised in this fashion? I could flip Design and Engine around if you think it'll make the section more organised. CR4ZE (t) 02:42, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I like the content of your edit, but I would like "Design" before "Engine". DARTHBOTTO talk•cont 04:04, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Release
- Rename this as "Marketing and release".
- Done CR4ZE (t) 09:23, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- The "Patches" and "Modifications" subsections should be moved to a new section called "Additional content". Add a link for main articles for Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn.
- Done CR4ZE (t) 09:23, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- At the bottom of the article, there is a subsection for "Reception" called "Technical issues". I would move this to the proposed "Marketing and release" section, as there is far more correlation, than there is for reception.
- Done CR4ZE (t) 09:23, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- Other than my already-listed suggestions, this section looks pretty good.
Reception
- It would be beneficial to start this whole section out with a brief synopsis of how the game did overall, with sources borrowed from Metacritic and GameRankings.
- Done I've added an opening sentence, but using many FA-Class reception sections as a model, I haven't mentioned the aggregate scores at all. Most high quality reception sections I've seen dive straight in. CR4ZE (t) 03:42, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- The overview for the reception seems a wee bit excessive. It should follow the general structure:
- A first paragraph that features overall statistics, as well as critical and significant input regarding the game.
- A second paragraph that discusses the major positives.
- A third paragraph that discusses the major negatives.
- An optional fourth paragraph that discusses miscellaneous details.
- That being said, the excessive nature of this section is overwhelming- cut everything that isn't additive to the measure of the game's reception and see how you do with what's left.
- Done I've culled it down quite significantly. It's certainly not as short as your Dota 2 example, but it's basically been halved in length. CR4ZE (t) 03:42, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- In the "Sales" subsection, it would be worth mentioning that Dota 2 surpassed Skyrim's record for the number of concurrent players on Steam. This is generally included when regarding former records.
- Comment: The sentence is written "was the fastest selling game to date on their Steam platform". I don't think we should get into the habit of having to reword a game's achievements when another eclipses it, because as I've seen on other articles (particularly CoD articles) it becomes somewhat convoluted. I could change "to date" to "at its time"? CR4ZE (t) 03:42, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- After the reception scope is reduced, remove the subsection header for "Sales" and allow it to serve as a final paragraph before my final suggestion below...
- Comment: Wouldn't that be a little confusing? It doesn't really flow great with the body of the Reception section. I think it's probably better split off into its own little section. CR4ZE (t) 03:42, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- There should be a subsection for "Awards and accolades", considering the success of this title.
- Done I have split it off and will convert to prose and, possibly, a table when I next have a moment. CR4ZE (t) 03:42, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
Overall thoughts
- This article seems to be well on the way to Good Article status, but the killer is in the organization. My suggestions are general for the most part, so there should be significant work done over this next week. If the upcoming material's quality is conducted in the same lieu as this, however, there shouldn't be any real problem with granting GA status.
- Numbers leading up to 100 should be written out, with the exception of those in the "Reception" section.
Verdict
- Due to the outstanding diligence of CR4ZE and their engagement with this article, I am closing this review and rewarding this page with a Good Article pass. To be very honest, this page is not far from Featured Article status. Congratulations! DARTHBOTTO talk•cont 23:40, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
Sales Percentages According To Platform Are Incorrect.
Under sales it says "In June 2013, Bethesda announced that over 20 million copies of the game had been sold;[120] of those sales, 59% were for the Xbox 360, 27% for the PS3, and 14% for the PC.[121]" Which is incorrect, the 59%, 27% & 14% only described the first 3.4 million sales and not the recently revealed 20 million sales figure. SOURCES : http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/11/skyrim-sales-estimated-at-3-4-million-in-two-days/ http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/elder-scrolls-v/1212505p1.html It further contradicts prior facts including "Steam's statistics page showed the client breaking a five million user record by having 5,012,468 users logged in January 2, 2012." Because 14% of 20 million is 2.8 million which is almost exactly half the number of PC copies sold in early 2012 let alone 2014. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.26.103.120 (talk) 20:45, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
Error in narrative
"The Jarl, Balgruuf the Greater, accepts under the condition that the player first retrieve a Dragonstone, a magical artefact that shows the location of ancient Dragon burial sites."
This is incorrect. Balgruuf's steward initially opposes sending troops to Riverwood, because he fears that the neighboring Jarl will mistake it for preparations for an attack. Balgruuf angrily rejects this advice, "I'll not stand idly by while a dragon burns my hold and slaughters my people!" and dispatches the troops. The player simply stands there and observes while this debate goes on. Balgruuf then thanks and rewards the player for bringing him the news of the dragon attack on Helgen, and almost as an afterthought, adds "I do have something that might be suited to a person of your... capabilities." He then leads you over to his wizard, telling him that he has found the person for his dragon business, which of course is retrieving the Dragonstone. The Dragonstone is NOT magical; it is simply a carved tablet showing the locations of dragon burial sites.
Suggested change:
"The Jarl, Balgruuf the Greater, dispatches troops to Riverwood and thanks the player for bringing him the news. He then remembers a project undertaken by his court wizard, and introduces the player to him. The wizard explains that someone has to go into Bleak Falls Barrow, an ancient and possibly dangerous tomb, to retrieve a Dragonstone, a stone map showing the locations of Dragon burial sites." 174.6.51.17 (talk) 12:09, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
Edit Request
In the additional content section, it says that the first modification released for Skyrim was the space core mod. However, I believe that it should say the first modification released on the Steam Workshop was the space core modification as there were modifications released beforehand.--109.152.1.29 (talk) 20:23, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

There are a variety of typos, spelling errors (dealing with plurals, etc.) and flaws in the Skyrim article posted on www.wikipedia.org.
For example, I copied and pasted the following paragraph from the original article:
The player's effectiveness in combat relies on the use of weapons and armor, which may be bought or created at forges, and magic, which may be bought or unlocked by finding spell tomes. Weapons and magic are assigned to each hand, allowing for dual-wielding, and can be swapped out through a quick-access menu of favorite items.[2] Shields can be used to fend off enemy attacks and reduce incurred damage, or offensively through bashing attacks. Blunt, bladed and hacking weapons can be used in close combat and each have specific advantages and roles; for example, the player can perform power attacks with each weapon. Magic can be used in the form of spells, which have many different function, such as the regeneration of health or the depletion of enemy health.[3] A bow and arrow may be utilized in long-range combat, but the bow can be used as a defensive melee weapon in close combat. The player can enter sneak mode and pickpocket, or deliver sneak attacks to unsuspecting enemies.
The first sentence is untrue, because it doesn't even mention the myriad of non-weapon, non-armor, non-magic related features in the game provided for combat, as well as leveling up your character. Examples include scrolls, stealth abilities -- simply hiding can level up your character, as well as secretly putting poisons in your enemies' pockets. These methods are valid, honest, and correct, and I haven't even mentioned having NPC friendly characters do the killing for your character (while you work on his/her stealth, archery, block, etc.) The first sentence doesn't even mention that weapons and armor can be found, or that a variety of things can be created magical at the Atronach Forge under the College in Winterhold. The sentence reading "Magic can be used in the form of spells, which have many different function..." should read "functions" so that the words "many" and "functions" are in quantity-agreement. Also, this paragraph mentions that a bow can be used as a defensive melee weapon, but mentions nothing about other weapons being used in this way. It also isn't mentioned that holding down the attack keys/hotkeys for both weapons at the same time produces a multi-weapon flurry of attacks.
Another thing to note: Somewhere in the article it mentions that the main character's magicka depletes through using spells, or being attacked with lightning spells. It isn't mentioned that dragon shouts shouted at the character may deplete health, magicka, and stamina over time. I know this is a more advanced mechanic for the player to look out for (starting as early as lvl 10 or 20 after he or she has completed the dragon quest in the tower somewhat near Whiterun, thus triggering the programming for dragons to be all over the world of Skyrim), and I also know that this article seems to be a general "overview" for inexperienced or beginning players (and perhaps parents who want to know what games their children are playing and what it's all about), but the information provided within the article is far from complete and accurate.
Someone please correct/address this oversight. I also wouldn't mind if someone were to spellcheck the article, and if another person were to "spellcheck the game mechanics" (such as when weapons are stated as having different roles and advantages, then only giving one example of power attacking, while omitting blocking with them, as well as granting unusual powers through Daedric Artifacts as well as, in some cases, advancing the storyline and quest-lines.) 71.23.225.154 (talk) 18:14, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Enderal
- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- Not merged - Although not an AFD, WP:BEFORE essentially wasn't followed for this. Article topic has wide spread coverage, it is simply in a stub state. Article has been expanded some now with over 8 sources added, more on talk page refideas, and many more available. -- ferret (talk) 21:54, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
Notability not established. Could be merged with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Classicwiki (talk) (ping me please) 17:38, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
Support – The only reliable source in that article points to Skyrim; I can see a reason for the mod to have its own dedicated section within this article. Possibly as a start to a "Modifications" section. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 17:43, 31 August 2017 (UTC)- Opposed If this was an AFD, I'd say WP:BEFORE wasn't followed. Use WP:VG/RS's custom google search for reliable sources and search for Enderal. Heavy and lasting coverage. @Classicwiki and Jd22292: I strongly recommend users stop going by what sources are IN an article, and spend a little time searching. Notability is not based on the article's current condition but whether or not sourcing exists. -- ferret (talk) 17:51, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
- Comment: I've added a ref ideas template to Enderal's Talk page based on this comment. Further refs can be added but I've only added one each from other reliable sources, not just PC Gamer. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 17:59, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose - Delete instead. This is one of many TC mods for Skyrim, and there's no reason why it should be promoted above the others to have a dedicated section in this article. The review of it is neat, but PC Gamer has a whole series of articles on Skyrim mods (scroll down to the bottom)- it doesn't make this one more notable than the rest, or notable enough for it's own article. --PresN 17:53, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
- @PresN: See my comment above, in regards to your deletion comment. There's a ton of coverage, the article just happens to be a stub. -- ferret (talk) 17:54, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hmm, I see that. Well, in that case, stay opposed, agree with Ferret that the article should be built up if possible. Regardless, I still don't think this article should have a dedicated section to a specific TC mod. --PresN 17:57, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose - Even a most basic Google Search of Enderal Skyrim shows multiple dedicated sources from PCGamer, Kotaku, and Rock Paper Shotgun - all considered reliable sources, and that's just looking at the first page of results. This is another one that's not even a close call... Sergecross73 msg me 18:26, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose - A cursory Google search shows a wide array of sources. As with recent attempted AFD you should really start doing WP:BEFORE prior to any hasty deletion or merge nominations.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 19:10, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
- I'm changing my stance to Oppose per the comments above. Using WP:VG/SE, I've stumbled across many pages of sources to use for the TC mod and have included some in a
{{ref ideas}}
template. WP:BEFORE was definitely not followed when creating this proposal. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 19:21, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
Mods
On the above point, there is plenty of coverage of the game's mods, certainly sufficient for a separate, dedicated article. I dumped a bunch of sources to start at Skyrim mods, if anyone's interested. This main article too should be expanded to better cover the mod community as has been covered in reliable, secondary sources, especially to maintain its GA status on breadth. czar 02:49, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
Publisher for Switch version
NintendoMario456 (talk) brought this to my attention: the Switch version is published by Nintendo apparently. The listed publisher was changed from Bethesda to Nintendo on the official Nintendo website during the past month: https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-switch DanielFreed (talk • contribs) 21:06, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
- Seems to be true, but does it really matter for purposes of this article? We don't put port developers in the infobox, so should a port publisher be any different? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:18, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
- Seems to be the norm for similar cases: Lego City Undercover, Ninja Gaiden 3, Bayonetta DanielFreed (talk • contribs) 21:42, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
- Even there I don't think that is ideal. I'll leave this to somebody else to add (or not). ~ Dissident93 (talk) 02:00, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
