Reverting the article

Could someone please revert the article to a previous time? Some G-Unit minion wrote nonsense over the first picture. I'd do it if I could. Coolintro 22:07, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I reverted it. --Ted87 22:57, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

New album sales

Someone has put the new album sales at ridiculous levels (5 times platinum in the U.S. and diamond worldwide). This needs to be fixed. 144.136.49.112 01:16, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

THE NEW SALES ARE 651,072 IN THE U.S..—Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.228.93.213 (talkcontribs)

It's at 750,000 sales right now... and it says it's platinum... it's not. NJ Rock 22:47, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

GA on hold

  • Images need fair use rationale and sources from where you got the image.
  • Many fans had mixed feelings as to whether, remove 'many'
  • he admitted in September (after the interview was conducted) during an interview on radio station, this sentence makes no sense
  • Split the lead into two paragraphs
  • November 27, 1979 (age 27), remove age 27
  • There are two sites under website, put one
  • Reference 12,13 are in the middle of a sentence
  • November 14, 2006. should be November 14, 2006
  • The album debuted at number one in the U.S., and sold over 358,000 copies its first week. The album debuted at number one in the U.S, selling over 358,000 copies in its first week. sounds better
  • It should be noted that, don't write that
  • The Game is currently involved in a feud with G-Unit, wikipedia will be read in years, state a date

Basically this article suffers from a lot of weasel words. If you remove some of them with the help of this and deal with these issues i will promote to GA. I will watch list this and see how it goes, Goodluck M3tal H3ad 06:07, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

No action taken, Failed. Feel free to re-nominate for GA once these issues are addressed. M3tal H3ad 01:42, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Striked out issues that have been fixed. --Ted87 22:58, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Personal problems with Aftermath

I was listening to Doctor's Advocate and it occurred to me: I think his issues with parting ways with Dr. Dre and Aftermath should be mentioned as it has affected his personal life. Just a suggestion...—Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.237.228.90 (talkcontribs)

Mixtape

Does anybody know the reason the mixtape section was deleted? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chrisaldinho (talkcontribs) 16:37, August 21, 2007 (UTC).

G.A. on hold

  • References need formatting, check {{cite web}}
  • 'See also' section can be removed as all links are the his infobox
  • Merge the sentence about Triple H's name with the other
  • Remove external links that are not about The Game, such as Geffen records
  • Aside from the artists listed below, remove this,
  • all of which have ended. remove this this and add a reference
  • (born November 27, 1979 in Los Angeles,[1] California) the reference here would look better outside the bracket.

Main problem is the references and how they're formatted. I'll put this on hold. M3tal H3ad 03:07, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Striked out issues that have been fixed. The first issue will take me a little bit of time (completed over 3/4 of the citations). --Ted87 18:38, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Finished. --Ted87 23:50, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

At 18 years of age(At the age of 18 sound better?) he began to follow his older half brother. Also the sentence above has a capital 'It' after a comma. There are still some references(5-6) without a title, just blue URL's and i saw a You tube link, please remove it as it breaches copyright. M3tal H3ad 02:11, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
I think I got them all. Anything else need fixing? --Ted87 21:13, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Reference #34 breaches copyright, and try remove peacock and weasel words like popular, considered, by many, classic etc. i removed a few, other then that looks good. M3tal H3ad 03:06, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Looks good to me. M3tal H3ad 06:57, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

What happened to the trivia on the page? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.44.192.40 (talk) 05:59, 27 January 2007 (UTC).

The trivia section was removed (see here for explanation). Most of the info was merged into the article. --Ted87 16:09, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

A reminder

--Ted87 23:29, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

OK look, 99% of this talk page is just "GGGG-Unit", "GGGG-Unot", "Fuck Gayme", "Fuck 50" bullshit, I mean, shouldn't we be allowed to simply remove all of this? Seriously, it does NOT help AT ALL when you guys start swearing over here, and just talk about who is fake and who isn't, or when you call each other idiots. Seriously, STOP posting all this crap, it's stupid and pointless. And to anyone that knows if it is allowed or not, can you please tell me if we can just remove most of the content from here (except for the stuff that is actually relevant to this article, and that actually helps)? --- Efil4tselaer 22:12, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

I'll look into it. I think the general rule is it's allowed, but frowned upon. Since you're censoring what someone is saying --Ted87 07:27, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I know what they mean, except it's not even censoring, it's just removing bullshit, if they wanna have this kind of argument they could just join some forum and talk about that, but not here. --- Efil4tselaer 20:42, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
OK, I finished removing pretty much everything that had to do with the "Fuck G-Unit" and "Fuck The Game" bullshit that was going on this talk page. --- Efil4tselaer 23:05, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Section about his feud with G-Unit

Maybe we should make that section shorter, since there is an article for it. I mean, that one section is almost as big as the whole article on the feud. Anyone agree? --- Efil4tselaer 21:47, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

The only reason why I like it is because it's well sourced, which is needed in a good article. Other then that, it is a little too long considering there is a seperate article on the feud. --Ted87 06:02, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

So... should I start removing some stuff? Or should I just leave it the way it is? --- Efil4tselaer 21:04, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Remove if you think it will make the article better. --Ted87 07:03, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Daughter???

In The Game's early recordings (pre-The Documentary), he rapped about having a daughter (most notably on the album Untold Story, Vol. 1, track name "Don't Cry"), but on everything recent, he mentions nothing more of it. I think this should be researched and added to the article. Supreme2k1 01:17, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

He doesn't have a daughter, he has a son and another son on the way.—Preceding unsigned comment added by JFizzle9191 (talkcontribs)

From what I understand he was rapping about his girlfriends daughter (not his), so he called her his daughter. He broke up with her anyway so it is a moot point to make. --Ted87 06:04, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

WORLD WIDE SALES

HIS WORLD WIDE SALES ARE 2.3 MILLION PLEASE QUIT CHANGING THIS WE HAVE PROOF FOR DOCTOR'S ADVOCATE. http://www.therealblackwallstreet.com/forum/showthread.php?p=447164 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by JFizzle9191 (talkcontribs) 02:46, 29 March 2007 (UTC).

Internet forums do not meet Wikipedia's requirment for reliable sources. I can make a post on a forum that he sold 9 million albums world wide. That doesn't make it a good source or true. --Ted87 07:02, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

See specificaly here for more info. --Ted87 07:09, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

HE WORKS FOR INTERSCOPE .... DAMN WIKIPEDIA SUCKS!!!!—Preceding unsigned comment added by JFizzle9191 (talkcontribs)

And how are we suppose to know this? We have no way of knowing who has written or posted that info. Can you find this info on a more reliable sight such as mediatraffic.de or Interscope's offical website? --Ted87 17:21, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Someone seriously needs to get some information on the world wide sales of Doctor's Advocate. The album obviously sold a lot more than it says here. I just don't know where I should go to find the sales, otherwise I would do it, but the world wide sales seriously need to be updated. --- Efil4tselaer 21:04, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

And the person who posted that doesn't work for Interscope Records. He is a part of The Black Wall Street promo team or whatever. Check his MySpace. http://www.myspace.com/dredogg167 --Ted87 20:55, 22 April 2007 (UTC) He also says here that HIS COUSIN is the one that works for Interscope Records, not him (http://www.therealblackwallstreet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51642). --Ted87 21:13, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Feud with Vida

Maybe someone add the feud with Vida about Game finger fucking her and there disses to eachother —The preceding unsigned comment was added by JFizzle9191 (talkcontribs) 18:31, 8 April 2007 (UTC).

I think it would be more appropriate in the "Wouldn't Get Far" article, with just a mention here. --Ted87 18:49, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

But he has dissed her in a recent diss on his new mixtape and she has dissed him also --JFizzle9191

Why You Hate The Game

Is the next single I added it in. It was confirmed by The Game. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/155...game_the.jhtml —The preceding unsigned comment was added by JFizzle9191 (talkcontribs) 21:33, 13 April 2007 (UTC).

Doctor's Advocate sales

Can we please have a dicussion as to how many copies of Doctor's Advocate have been sold? There is an edit war going on about this and we need to settle the issue. --Ted87 20:36, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

I found one source (http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.5112/title.hip-hop-album-sales-week-ending-4-8-2007) thats says he did infact sell 904K in the United States. --Ted87 20:41, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Shady Records

In an interview with Cashis of Shady Records he claimed The Game had down talked on the new Shady Record signees if anyone can back up these claims I think it should be included in this article.volumesoxxs 09:20, 9 June 2007 (UTC)}

Retirement/Last Album?

In an interview with QB3.com he said that he would release a third and final album and he would be done with hip-hop, the link is http://www.allhiphop.com/hiphopnews/?ID=7160—Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.47.204.150 (talkcontribs)

Sounds like BS, but deserves a mention in the article, IMHO. --Ted87 06:07, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

This is true I saw the video on youtube of him saying that his doing one more album before he retires. He says he has forfilled his purpose and that 3 classic albums are enough. --58.172.193.67 15:34, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

The allhiphop.com article is now nowhere to be found. Here are two other articles reporting the story of his retirement, though: The Game's up? Rapper hints at retirement and The Game Announces Retirement Plans on Beef IV DVD. I'll write it into the article right now. --Josh1billion 05:17, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Update: I have added the section with quotes and with two sources cited. You can see the additions here. --Josh1billion 05:25, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

I have my doubts whether this will be his last album. Anyway, this is already covered under "Rise to fame", so it doesn't really need its own section. Spellcast 01:34, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
That information seems very out of place (readers coming here looking for specific information on his retirement will most likely not be reading through the "Rise to fame" section). --Josh1billion 06:53, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

The Future: Game Retiring

The Game has claimed that after he releases his third album, he will retire from the music industry. He says three classic albums are enough. It is debatable as to why Game wants to retire, with some people going as far as to saying that Game is retiring to get out of contract obligations with 50 Cent.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.105.95.61 (talkcontribs)

The part about him retiring is already in the article. All the other info is just rumours. --Ted87 18:02, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

New Game With Dre Tracks

There is a bootleg circulating under the name The_D.O.C. which is apparently a advance version of a yet to come album or mixtape. It contains the following songs: ~ The Game - Around The way (Feat keyshia Cole) Prod. By Dr. Dre (same lyrics other beat) ~ The Game - Feels Good (Feat yummy bingham) Prod. By Focus ~ The Game - Gutter Prod. By Scott Storch ~ The Game - Murda Prod. by Dr. Dre ~ The Game - My Bitch Prod. By Dj Khalil ~ The Game - Wont Stop Prod. By Dr. Dre (talking about the ongoing game/dre combination) ~ The Game - Wonderfull Life Prod. By Dr. Dre (86.92.216.106 22:15, 4 June 2007 (UTC))

Infobox

Since this was reverted here, I thought I'd bring this up. Why remove his previous record labels? We're documenting his history, not just keeping up with current events. I already said this before on 50 Cent, but if we were to only put the current labels, does that mean we should remove Geffen and The Black Wall Street when he retires? Spellcast 12:55, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Bishop Lamont

Ok whats the deal here in the feuds section here and on Bishop's page that there was a feud i want to go into more detail with it and know what its all about not just mentioning some feud the could be made up? Im sure it was something small but it should go into detail. Taylor21 08:10, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

There wasn't any real beef between the two.
  • Game get's kicked off Aftermath
  • Game disses Bishop on one song
  • Bishop doesn't responed
  • Game goes on Power 106 and says he was fustrated at Aftermath and took it out on Bishop
  • They squash their "fued"

That was it. --Ted87 18:46, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Manual of style (biographies)

states that after the article states the person's full name, the article may only refer to the person by his surname. To maintain GA status, it would be good to change "The Game" to "Taylor." mirageinred 17:53, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

That sucks. Even if he is more known by his Pseudonym? --Ted87 18:43, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Quote from WP:MOS "For people who are best known by a pseudonym, they shall be referred to by their pseudonym surname, or if not applicable, some other suitable abbreviation (or without abbreviation if none is suitable)."
That make the current form acceptable. --Ted87 18:52, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Exactly. No where in Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies) does it say that people best known by pseudonyms must be consistently referred to by their last name. Spellcast 15:16, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Homophobia

Should there not be a mention of his homophobic comments live on air on BBC Radio 1 in 2006? He specifically called gay men "faggots" and "not real men".

Nah, it's not notable enough to be mentioned. Besides, I remember reading in an interview he was going to release 5 albums. That was a few years ago though. Anyway, I doubt this will be his last. Spellcast 05:05, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Ethnicity

This has been unsourced for a while so if anyone has a reference about his parents ethnicity, specifically about this father being half Spanish and Native American, just add it back in. I tried looking for a source but I couldn't find any.

Jayceon Taylor was born in Los Angeles, California to an African American mother, Lynette Baker, and his father George Taylor, who is of Spanish and Native American descent.

Spellcast 11:54, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

I added that and he said it on the BWS forum. I don't know if it is an exception to rule of using forums as sources since he actually said it, but I can find the link for you either way (although you'll need to be a member to view the link, I think). --Ted87 06:16, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

I know it's a forum but The Game is obviously a reliable source as to what his background is. If you give the link, that'd be good. Spellcast 02:04, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
Unfortuantly the forum switched servers, so I don't know if the old posts can be found. Give me some time to look up a third party source. If I can't find one in a week, go ahead and change/delete the info. --Ted87 20:57, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
What's the URL of the new forum? It could still have it in the archives. We don't want to remove reliable info just because he said it in a forum. Spellcast (talk) 19:29, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

The Game vs Eminem

On The Games page it says he is the only westcoast solo artis to have a multi platinum solo record since Dr. Dre's 2001. But on Eminems page it says the The Eminem Show (released in 2002) is 9x platinum. ?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.178.130.192 (talk) 03:34, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
