Talk:The Judgment (2014 film)

Latest comment: 8 years ago by Cuchullain in topic Requested move 20 January 2016

Article title should be "The Judgment"

edit

For the spelling of the English-language title, Wikipedia ought to go with the international sales agent, Premium Films, and the film's poster shown here. Cineuropa spells it "The Judgement"[1] but Variety and The Hollywood Reporter both spell it "The Judgment"[2][3]. Mathew5000 (talk) 07:52, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Also, the official Bulgarian site is thejudgmentmovie.bg and from what I could see on brief perusal, never spells it "Judgement". @Lugnuts: any objection to changing the article title to The Judgment (2014 film)? Mathew5000 (talk) 08:27, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Nope - just seen this and was about to move it. Nice work with the expansion too! Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:30, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I object. Why should the US title be used over the international title. US WP:RM. — Film Fan 10:52, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Trying to be WP:POINTY, eh FF? Again. Pathetic. I've reverted you. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 10:55, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
What is your problem? Why do you always get personal with me? I revert a controversial move with a valid reason and you launch personal attacks at me. Take a look at yourself, man. Utterly reprehensible. — Film Fan 11:06, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
You moved it then uploaded a poster with the current title! How do you defend your trolling and disruptive editing? Oh, you don't. Now that's utterly reprehensible. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 11:11, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
What relevance is the spelling on the poster I uploaded to my revert? And how do you label that "trolling" or "disruptive editing"? Consider me thoroughly bemused. — Film Fan 11:13, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Keep up your trolling. You'll soon be blocked again. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 11:15, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
This is just sad. — Film Fan 11:21, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

The Judgment (2014 film)The Judgement (2014 film) – Reverting controversial page move from international English title to US title (MOS:RETAIN). I already reverted the move but another user reverted my revert, even though a Requested Move was not done in the first place. — Film Fan 11:11, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

You're making false assumptions. — Film Fan 11:22, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes - really - you are, my friend. — Film Fan 11:25, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Support move Keep at "The Judgment (2014 film)" and oppose reverting move - "The Judgment" is what the film self-promotes as (both on posters and on their website), but most importantly, it's what sources call it.[4][5][6][7]. It doesn't hurt that the historically correct spelling of the word is "judgment" and that "judgement" is a more recent misspelling. Film Fan, please provide reliable sources that demonstrate that "The Judgement" is used more widely.  · Salvidrim! ·  13:33, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I don't remember that at all. But a quick check shows you're holding a grudge on not getting your own way from nearly three years ago! Very WP:POINTY indeed. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 19:11, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Not in the least - you just refreshed my memory with the link above, and it adds adds an element of applesauce. — Film Fan 20:51, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose move based on lack of support for commonname usage. As already presented by Salvidrim and FilmFan above, there are mixed sources. When it doubt, we should defer to both the stable version, as well as the official name. As such, Judgment should prevail. Tiggerjay (talk) 17:06, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per Salvidrim and Lugnuts above. Calidum T|C 23:44, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose because the film's official site in its country of origin shows the title as "The Judgment"[37] and the international sales agent is marketing the film as "The Judgment"[38], which has been followed by highly reputable trade publications including Variety. That said, however, the press kit [39] refers to the film as "The Judgement" and there is at least one poster (produced by whom, I don't know) which uses that spelling [40][41][42]. But the majority of posters for the film showing the title in English, spell it "The Judgment"[43][44][45]. Mathew5000 (talk) 10:44, 22 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
