Stevan or Staven?
editThroughout this article, the writers have spelt his name both ways, any comments on how it's suppose to be spelt? ~Hyung-Qing Hong
if your talking about Vanyel's lifebonded it's spelled Stefen(Stef for short) in the version of Magic's Price I am reading. I'm pretty sure that Stefen is the correct version. Many names in the Heralds of Valdemar are corrupted versions of real names. Tydoni (talk) 03:45, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think he's talking about Tylendel's brother, and I believe it's Staven, but I don't have the book handy right now. Doniago (talk) 04:11, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- Then you're right it is spelled Staven at least on page 172 of Magic's Pawn.

It should be noted that many of the human heralds return in later books in horse form as companions. When that happens their name is often the same but spelled differently. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.235.60.42 (talk) 18:08, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Summery
editI find the page for Vanyel is a better summery of the series he appears in way better than the articles for those books do. the Vanyel article should be either merged with the three books or the articles for the books should be improved.
why was the expansion on the summery that describes Vanyel getting his powers and his issues with his father deleted? Tydoni (talk) 03:15, 12 November 2009 (UTC) it was said in this article that Vanyel at the end of the book woke in Haven accepted by everyone and qualified to wear Heraldic Whites only the last part is true. He woke up in K'Treva he was never accepted by everyone except maybe by the end of the third book I have changed the line to better reflect the cannon Tydoni (talk) 16:34, 4 March 2010 (UTC) how are book pages cited because I can tell you the page numbers most of this action takes place on for example: "Vanyel wakes to find himself with his aunt in K'Treva as she presents him with the white robes of a full-fledged Herald-Mage" happens on p. 348 Magic's Pawn ISBN-0886773520 however how do I include it as a cite? Trilogy
editGiven that this is the only novel in the Last Herald Mage Trilogy with an article, would it be appropriate to instead have a single page for the whole trilogy? I have been researching citations for a "themes" section and most of the writing on the subject looks at the trilogy as a whole. The trilogy's major recognition has been the Lambda Awards with the first two being nominated and the final winning the award. Also, the Valdemar series is likely to have renewed interest with an announced series in pre-production and reports have said they three books in the trilogy will be taken together as the first season so doing the same for the article may be appropriate. I'm unclear on the wiki rules and precedent for this but I thought I might venture a second opinion before it did anything with this article or the rest of the trilogy. - I'd like to hear what other editors might think of this proposal, but I'd tentatively support it. I don't see this article ever being so expansive while limited to the first book that it couldn't accommodate information about the other two. DonIago (talk) 20:03, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- I think you should go ahead and create The Last Herald-Mage. There's a cover here for the omnibus edition. Whether to merge or not is a separate question; both articles can certainly co-exist (depending on sources). I read this a long time ago so I don't remember much about the plot, but I'd be interested in helping out. Olivaw-Daneel (talk) 05:50, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
- I think I've exhausted all available sources for book 1, so I agree with Doniago and support a title change to The Last Herald-Mage. The plot summary would need to be changed to cover the full trilogy in the same word count. I'll try to get to it if no one else does, but feel free to go ahead.
