Versions
editAre there different cuts of the film?? In the first version I saw (on an airplane), they had a scene where a dog joins them in the mayor's office and confusion arises over whose dog it is. When I saw it again a few years later on TV, that scene and others capturing the natural expanse of S.America were missing. Normally airplane versions are edited, yet I clearly remember that it was longer and had more scenes. As this version was in time closer to the original release, I am left wondering why this film has been reedited, runtime, director's cut etc?. Some other reason? Network reasons?
Speech
editThe original Wikipedia text was: "In it, he invokes a pan-Latin American identity that transcends the arbitrary boundaries of both nation and race."
Here's the line from the movie: "..the division of America into unstable and illusory nations is a complete fiction. We are one single mestizo race from Mexico to the Magellan Straits."
Notice that Che compares the existing borders of America, which he regards as giving rise to "fictitious" nations, as compared to a United America, which he implies would not be a fictitious nation because it would be founded on the unity of "one single mestizo race".
Deliberately excluded are of course Yankees, the indigenous and Brazilians, given that they are not mestizo. 209.94.130.35 (talk) 17:18, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
