Fair use rationale for Image:The Phantom Tollbooth Poster.jpg
editImage:The Phantom Tollbooth Poster.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:51, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
New film being made?
editI recall seeing a teaser trailer for a new Phantom Tollbooth film being made sometime at the beginning of this year, but I can't find anything online about it. Perhaps someone here knows something? Necro-File (talk) 19:07, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
Doldrum voices
editIMDB doesn't list voice credits for the many Lethargians, but I'm sure Mel Blanc is in there. Can anyone identify more voice actors playing the Lethargians, or find an authoritative source? Wdfarmer 08:06, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Subtle sarcasm?
editThe article says "No DVD release is planned for 2008." That may or may not be factual, but it seems like an odd thing to say in a supposed-encyclopedia. "Arthur Miller often did not think about Elephants...." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.201.190.68 (talk) 15:38, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
There were a few promotional DVDs released
editI found a DVD from a seller who was in Canada on Ebay. They said there were a few copies of the DVD version of the film, which were made to either promote the film, or to test it out on the buying market. I have one of these DVDs, if you would like, I could add a picture of it to the article.
I do believe that The Phantom Tollbooth should be made widely in DVD format, it really is an amazing film for it's surreal imagery. I'm not sure why it wasn't more accepted, or distributed more widely. I mean, it was animated by Mel Blanc who was very involved with the Looney Tunes animation. In fact, if you watch this film and Looney Tunes, you'll notice there is music in there that has been used in Looney Tunes episode. Particularly with the Doldrums segment, where all the Lethargians run away from Tock the Watch Dog.
Perhaps MGM will consider in the future to re-issue this film on DVD. I really would hope so, it's timeless. At the very least, they could offer to have it run on Cartoon Network or Boomerang.Violet yoshi (talk) 20:42, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- Most of that is irrelevant to the article, but the film does turn up on television periodically. No one said it's "lost" or "never shown", only that it's never had a DVD release. Turner owns the rights, and it's been shown at least twice on Turner Classic Movies in the past two years. 71.200.134.47 (talk) 13:09, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
Saw this film -it wasn't bad--it just had to be appreciated.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.5.83.221 (talk) 12:17, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
