Symbolism
editSubtext is always open to interpretation 'course, but without a reference the symbolism section seems like original research. An encyclopedia isn't the place to theorize how movies could be explained either way, and have thus added an unreferenced tag to the section. Igorrr 10:26, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Awards
editShould the mention of the European Discovery of the Year at the European Film Awards include its full name of the Fassbinder Award? Perhaps as "European Discovery of the Year (Fassbinder Award)" ? Immutable 09:44, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Copy-and-Pasted Text
edit"test of manhood of almost mythic proportions" That phrase also appears several places on the web as a description of this film. Whose words are these? If it's copy from another web site or a press release of some sort, it needs appropriate attribution. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.85.196.203 (talk) 20:11, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Ending details
editI am taking out the text that says Andrei breaks the boat and pushes it out to sea. In the movie it is clear that he is nowhere near the boat when he starts yelling and running towards it. Is that OR? It's just what's in the film. Probably the boys did not secure it when they dragged it ashore, and the boat was old and leaky to begin with. That bit is my interpretation, and I won't put in the article, but it explains what I see much more closely than what was originally written in the article. --Kbh3rdtalk 05:36, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
Photos at end of film
editA sentence was recently added claiming that the photos make it clear that the boys were alone on the trip without their father. This theory is unfounded and would take away from the poignant significance of Ivan’s display of emotion and longing for his father. 136.34.204.88 (talk) 04:06, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
