Plot

I added the plot. I forgot what the other roles of the named people are - I got fool, victim, and 2 murderers down, but if anyone else could take note & add, it would be appreciated. I hope it's accurate and in order. I just watched it. jolielover♥talk 15:33, 7 May 2026 (UTC)

My recollection was that his name was spelled Afrikaans style ("Pieter") in the half a second the phone was on screen. IMO, if we aren't sure of the full name, we shouldn't include it, it's not even that relevant. As for his first name, I could be wrong... I'm the one who removed it. Strictly speaking, per MOS:FILMPLOT, 700 words is supposed to be the max, but A) this is too short, B) mysteries tend to want longer plots, and C) attempting to enforce this too strictly post-release is generally foolish as well-meaning editors will stop by to "fix" this. That said, even with a target of ~850 words or so, I don't think the 'roles' are ultimately that important enough to make the cut. If they were included, we'd have to explain them, and that would take even more words. (And strictly speaking, the film doesn't provide absolute certainty on who was who, but the key item was that it was written without George knowing he was going to get murdered, and the "joke" is that he was not talking about his own murder with the "two murderers" comment, but rather just generally insulting raising sheep for their meat as a vegetarian (Caleb & Ham). Priest was the bad shepherd, innkeeper was the victim, policeman was the fool, and the two kids the lambs in some combination. But since George didn't actually know he was going to get murdered, it's mostly a red herring, he didn't have some secret insight into the crime.) Looks like the plot section has since expanded some, and will probably need to contract a bit, but just figured I'd give my take.

Flip side, I'd say the more, the merrier for reviews. I don't really agree with the huge trimming done. Or at least not yet. SnowFire (talk) 22:49, 11 May 2026 (UTC)

I removed the reviews. A lot of them are by B-list review sites (what is TheOnlyCritic or HeyUGuys or RedCarpetCrash), but I also don't see the need for 27 different reviews listed here. My take is that the "Critical response" section should be representative sample of reviewers' thoughts about a film, not a quote from every single review that exists (though I am not sure if there is an actual policy/guideline for this or not). It looks like the guidelines that we do have are MOS:FILMCRITICS, which says Detailed commentary from reliable sources regarding the critics' consensus (or lack thereof) is encouraged. Spoiler Alert would be useful

This movie is a delightful, light murder mystery. The current plot description is useful for recalling details after one has seen the movie. However, for those who have not yet had the pleasure of seeing it, it would be helpful to separate off the key parts that solve the mystery under a sub-portion of the Plot section with a heading like "Spoiler Alert: the following contains details regarding the solution of the mystery". ~2026-28322-33 (talk) 05:26, 11 May 2026 (UTC)

Plot sections are always spoilers by definition. Nonetheless in most cases a well written plot section should not need to give away the ending until the last paragraph or two, so there may be room for improvement in some cases, and reasonable adjustments can and should be made.

Only the plot section need include important story points, if editors have added unnecessary plot details to the character section (only introduce the characters) or lead section (only introduce the premise, not the ending), we can still discuss removing plot from other sections. -- ~2026-20754-35 (talk) 14:27, 21 June 2026 (UTC)

Error in description

would recommend changing sentence regarding Georges will. His chosen charity to donate his fortune to is not an animal rights charity, it's a welfare charity.
