L'OuvreTemps → The Time Opener – This is the English Wikipedia. Every other Valérian and Laureline book is called by its English name rather than its original French name here. Relisted. - Oppose - per conditions of WP:UE, and added [citation needed] tag to the English "title" in lead, which is an unsourced translation. Others in the series appear to have been translated and cited, this so far hasn't been. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:40, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- Comment: I was not aware that this album hasn't been translated into English yet. It's been almost four years since its original publication, and it was translated to Finnish as Aika-Avaaja ("The Time Opener" in Finnish) in February 2010, one month after its original French publication (see http://kauppa.tietosanoma.fi/9789518874235). The article Valérian and Laureline states that the series is being slowly translated into English:
- - The City of Shifting Waters - July 2010 ISBN 978-1-84918-038-2
- - The Empire of a Thousand Planets - July 2011 ISBN 978-1-84918-087-0
- - The Land Without Stars - April 2012 ISBN 978-1-84918-1181-0
- - Welcome to Alflolol - September 2012 ISBN 978-1-84918-334-0 Parameter error in {{ISBN}}: checksum
- - Birds of the Master - March 2013 ISBN 978-1-84918-1525-0.
- - Ambassador of the Shadows - November 2013 ISBN 978-1-84918-1785-0
- Why, then, does every other Valérian and Laureline album have an English title here? And why are the English translations dragging almost a decade behind every other language? JIP | Talk 17:13, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

- Well, I don't think anyone is suggesting that when an English title exists it can't have one. But we never just "invent" English titles for books in advance of an English translation. It is up to the publisher to choose the English title when it is translated, not for en.wp to choose it for the publisher. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:43, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment. I agree otherwise, but it still doesn't explain why L'OuvreTemps is the only article about a Valérian and Laureline album that is named after the original French title, not an English translation. JIP | Talk 19:43, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

- Comment: I don't care if this article uses the French or English title. But clearly the other titles are directly translated from French to English. It doesn't take a Ph.d to translate Les Armes Vivantes to The Living Weapons for example. So, IMO, this is not "inventing" a title, so I have no problem with that. That said, if and when it will have an official title in English that is different from what is used here, it can be adjusted. -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 04:01, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- No, I'm afraid it is.
- There is usually more than one way to translate anything, though probably 2/3 of these titles could be guessed with a good chance of accuracy, but that isn't the point we shouldn't be guessing titles in advance of the copyright holders. It's okay to have La Cité des eaux mouvantes Bienvenue sur Alflolol L’Ambassadeur des Ombres Les Oiseaux du Maître L’Empire des mille planètes Le Pays sans étoile as redirects since those 6 have been translated.
- But evidently unless a source exists, which it doesn't, then these all need to be moved per WP:UE to the real titles:
In ictu oculi (talk) 15:53, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose per User:In ictu oculi. There seems to be no evidence that this English title is used by reliable sources. And the fact that other titles do use a made up translation is no reason why this one should, per WP:OTHERSTUFF. If anything it's an indication that those articles are at the wrong title. — Amakuru (talk) 13:44, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

On the False Earths
editcorrection needed: we can see the creator of false earths on a screen behind the chief of Valérian and Laureline in the end. -- 93.14.244.118 14:51, November 23, 2017

L'OuvreTemps → The Time Opener – I thought this was non-controversial per WP:UE, as previous discussion had no prejudice against a move once English translations have been published, but apparently this needs an RM. So, [1][2][3], along with many, many more... --woodensuperman 08:09, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
- Support. English translation has been published. WP:UE. -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 14:34, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
