Plot
editI've done a brief re-write of the plot section. I think it could do with a rather lengthier plot summary. I'll attempt this if I get the time in the next few days. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BearAllen (talk • contribs) 02:39, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
complications on the length of the American version
editThere is a six-episode (American) version of the series that runs 320 minutes. This version has appeared on youtube more than once. Its six episodes, contains all the editing differences between the UK and American version, but runs way longer than the original 290 minutes. Its possible that the original PBS broadcast and VHS versions are shorter than the DVD version which was released later. 2600:1700:CA01:F20:B531:8F8E:4D27:6EF3 (talk) 00:50, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
- Perhaps the shorter length is from a version of the UK broadcast with the credits cut out. As I just added with citations, the two versions have about the same running time. UpdateNerd (talk) 10:46, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
series or mini series
editDid the BBC refer to the programme as a miniseries?Halbared (talk) 10:37, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- I very much doubt it, “miniseries” being a ghastly American neologism ;) Mr Larrington (talk) 01:48, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- Do you think it should be changed to 'tv series'? I had a quick look, First Born (TV series) is another British one series programme, and was advertised as such.Halbared (talk) 21:05, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- OK it's done to bring it in line with UK style and other similar programmes.Halbared (talk) 22:12, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
