Regarding conflict of interest
editThis is regarding the COI tag in the article placed by User:TheChunky. I seek to disclose here that I am related to Tirtheswar Hazarika, the subject of this article. While I was aware that paid editing and articles on one's own self are not allowed, I was not aware of the family-related COI rules and thus, made the mistake. I express my regret and seek pardon for this.
I can assure, however, that the content is fairly neutral. Almost all of the content is simply a rearrangement of the content available in the article on the same topic on the Assamese version of Wikipedia (non-Assamese speaking editors can see this machine translation done by Google Translate), which is entirely written and edited by authors with no conflict of interest (I have no edits in that article). I just saw the article there and decided to make an English article out of it by going through the sources and rearranging the content a bit.
The following parts differ from the Assamese article:
- The entire legacy section is new and includes sources not included in the Assamese article
- The article from the Quint by Siddhant Kalra and the book by Dilip Kumar Neog are not referred to in the Assamese article. Claims that solely cite them are new additions, for example, about his wife Mokshada Devi or that he spinned the charkha during World War II.
- Some background information regarding the Indian independence movement, such as when Mahatma Gandhi returned to India, what the Swadeshi movement is or when the Azad Hind Fauj reached India are new additions. These are well known facts and are not specifically about Tirtheswar Hazarika. Assamese is mostly spoken in India and it is understandable that this information is considered common knowledge there, and therefore not included in the Assamese article, but I felt the English version should include some of it to make the reader aware of the background.
I would be grateful if one could kindly consider these points, make the necessary checks and edits, remove any parts that are deemed non-neutral and remove the COI tag. Thank you. IKHazarika (talk) 08:45, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
