Heads up, potential outbreak May 1-3
editJust letting everyone know that we could potentially be looking at the next article-worthy event starting this evening (May 1). The potential for strong tornadoes also will continue until May 3. Lets see how this plays out, and lets not jump the gun and create an article until after May 3, once things are wrapping up and the damage surveys will be in full swing. The only exception to that would be if something very significant/article-worthy happens tonight or tomorrow. Just reminding everyone. Thanks! Sharkguy05 (talk) 17:15, 1 May 2018 (UTC)Sharkguy05
- I really want to nip this in the bud, but can we please avoid discussions of potential outbreaks going forward? This issue has already come up in the 2017 discussion, and I still think it creates unnecessary clutter on the talk pages. TornadoLGS (talk) 21:36, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Sorry, wasn't aware (also today totally produced btw) Sharkguy05 (talk) 02:51, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Sharkguy05
May 1-3 Event
editShould the tornado outbreak of May 1-3, 2018 have its own page? Tornadoguy428 (talk) 00:35, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- Only two strong tornadoes during the event, both of which were relatively localized. The subsection should suffice. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk · contributions) 00:53, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for replying, I wasn’t sure. Tornadoguy428 (talk) 00:59, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
Just asking, should we make a page for the July 19-20th event? Tornadoguy428 (talk) 01:19, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
Page for July 19-20 event?
editGood evening, wondering if there should be a page for the July 19-20 event. It was an outbreak that was not in the forecast. About 28 people were injured in this outbreak too. Should there be a page for this event?
Thanks, Tornadoguy428 Tornadoguy428 (talk) 22:56, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
- I'm indifferent. 27 tornadoes is on the lower end of outbreak pages these days, but we're grading on a curve this year in the midst of record low activity, and more tornadoes are bound to be confirmed in post analysis. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk · contributions) 23:20, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
Page for tornado outbreak of October 31- November 2?
editHi. I think we should make a page for the tornado outbreak of October 31 to November 2 of 2018. Although the tornadoes were generally weak, there were 56 tornadoes and 3 fatalities, which to me is enough to qualify for a page. Let me know your thoughts on a page for this outbreak. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gio52903 (talk • contribs) 14:17, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
May 2018 count
edit@TropicalAnalystwx13: This doesn't make any sense. Can you look into this? Thanks.
One hundred and sixty-six tornadoes were reported in the United States in May,of which 169 were confirmed.

- That just means there were more tornadoes confirmed via storm surveys than were originally reported in local storm reports. It just needs a wording change. United States Man (talk) 20:05, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

July 19-20, 2018 Outbreak
editI know it has been said before on this talk, but I propose an article for the July 19-20 tornado outbreak. It can be titled "Iowa tornado outbreak of July 2018." If we have an article of the Iowa Tornado Outbreak of November 2005, which only had 14 tornadoes, why not have one for this one, which had more tornadoes? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gio52903 (talk • contribs) 17:40, 29 January 2020 (UTC)
- First, remember WP:OTHERSTUFF. The 2005 outbreak probably shouldn't have an article, though I don't think it'd be worth the trouble of going through an AfD discussion. Like TropicalAnalystwx13, I'm neutral to the idea since its notability is borderline for article-worthiness. TornadoLGS (talk) 05:59, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
Death toll discrepancy
editSo….when I added up all the deaths, I got 11 US and 18 international, but I factored in the indirect tornado death on 11/1. Excluding that the 10 and 17 are correct, but then the October 31-November 2 outbreak only killed 2 people.
Side note - can that outbreak (Oct 31-Nov 2) have an article? 61 tornadoes and 2-3 deaths sounds like enough to me, even if it only went up to EF2. 160.72.80.50 (talk) 14:57, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
- I fixed the wording in the section so it is less confusing. Also, I wouldn't support an article at this point, as it would simply be a rehash of what is already covered in the section on the yearly page. United States Man (talk) 15:38, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
- That's fair. I guess one could be created if someone can find significant new information to create one. --160.72.80.50 (talk) 19:55, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

editWas the Pensacola EF0 and North Dakota EF2 from the same system? If not the Pensacola tornado should be removed. 104.246.113.199 (talk) 22:22, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
