edit

I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: Nice work. The lead could benefit from being more explanatory. The first sentence is unclear other than saying what it is unlike. Happy editing!

Hello North8000, thank you for reviewing this page and the replies. You are right: the first sentence was a bit odd. I tried to expand the lede, would you think any other alterations are needed? KatVanHuis (talk) 09:27, 7 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Cool. IMO an article like this is best if understandable by a typical reader, and without resorting to going to other articles. So, for them, internal links are best "for further reading" rather than for being able to understand the article. In this article your basic descriptions use specialized terms that are unfamiliar to a typical reader and rely on internal links in order for a typical reader to be able to read the article. My recommendation would be to add a bit of explanatory text regarding those terms when introducing them. Sincerely, North8000 (talk) 12:57, 7 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello North8000, thank you for your very quick reply. Which of the terms would you see as unfamiliar to a typical reader? And yet, taking a random article like insects shows terms even more unfamiliar, like invertebrate, chitin and thorax. But I'm wiling to take a look a the most unfamiliar term in this article's lede. One would be "articulation" as a noun. Even the linked article doesn't explain what it means as a noun. Sincerely, North8000 (talk) 17:52, 9 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Maybe "This is similar to a saddle mounted vehicle being towed.". Most people won't know what "saddle mounted" means, and I don't see how it is similar or how that helps explain it. Sincerely, North8000 (talk) 18:30, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
It is similar in the way that a saddle mounted vehicle rests on its own wheels and on the towing vehicle. An articulated tram consists of two ore more car sections (also called car bodies or cars), and the end car(s) of a tram with suspended articulation also rests on its own wheels at one side and on another car body with its own wheels.
I'm not keen on reverting, it was merely meant as an additional explanation for those who happen to be familiar with the 'towing business'. KatVanHuis (talk) 18:25, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't be bashful about reverting me, double so when I asked to please revert me if you do not agree. WP:BRD is a normal everyday process. But I'd be happy to revert my removal if you prefer. But if you'd like my opinion, it's very confusing. The link you gave says that the saddle configuration involves putting the axles of the towed vehicle on top of the towing vehicle. For suspended articulation (as I understand it) there are no axles there for either vehicle. Sincerely, North8000 (talk) 19:40, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
It really took me some thinking, but indeed: with the "the saddle configuration" there are more axles involved than with the "suspended articulation". Thank you for removing it: indeed the "saddle configuration" doesn't belong here. KatVanHuis (talk) 21:22, 3 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
