Notability
editIn terms of notability, we'd normally consider a political party winning 1.56% of votes nationwide as sufficiently notable for having an article. Now considering that Kerala has a population bigger than a lot of sovereign countries, I'd say that 1.56% state-wide would suffice. --Soman (talk) 19:41, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
- Soman, there is no such rule. Based on my experiences on AfD, a political party needs to win more than a few electoral seats before it passes the individual notability criteria. If that is not met it is almost always deleted unless there are good merge targets (like founder's bio) available DBigXrayᗙ 19:44, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
- I'd say our opinion on what is the established practice differs. The notability guidelines and policies are instruments that are supposed to help us from having Wikipedia full of vanity pages, for example not every branch of Domino's Pizza or similar should have an article. Whilst this article is a stub and covers a subject from way before google and world wide web, it has information on a passage of history of relevance for those interested in politics of Travancore-Cochin state. Deletion or merge will bring no benefit to the quality of Wikipedia. --Soman (talk) 19:53, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
- Soman, Please understand that the notability does not depend on the current article size or condition. If it is notable, even a stub will be permitted. If it is not, even ef you write 200 KB of text, it will be deleted simply because the notability is not met. If you still disagree with me, then we can let the AfD decide its notability. That is the only option left in that case. DBigXrayᗙ 19:56, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
