Merge proposal
editI am of the opinion that this article should be merged with (or rather turned into a footnote of) Treadle (railway). Perhaps someone with more Wiki Skill could do such a thing?? Other wise I shall attempt it myself in time CaptinJohn 14:45, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
- With the "See also" section, it's easy for readers to find Treadle (railway). Since there are other common uses for this term (I came here looking for sewing machines), it's probably best to leave these as two distinct articles. --Fabrictramp (talk) 00:55, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep separate (as above) - this article can be expanded to clarify eg construction variations. - Rod57 (talk) 19:11, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
Illustration incorrect
editThat illustration is completely wrong. It is a treadmill, not a treadle. There are illustrations of proper treadles on the Treadle bicycle page. -- 202.63.39.58 (talk) 21:28, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed. I will remove it and look for a suitable replacement. BoundaryRider (talk) 16:14, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
- Seems to have been done - Now have pic of phonograph and of sewing machine - but neither shows enough detail of how foot rest connects to what rotates. - Need a better image. - Rod57 (talk) 19:15, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
Connecting 'rod'
editNo mention of how the foot rest connects to the thing that rotates - Is it called a connecting rod or does it have a traditional name ? - Rod57 (talk) 19:11, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
Connection to lever principle
editIf there is it would be good to elaborate on it. I guess lever system is in place. 213.149.62.127 (talk) 17:29, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
