Mishapocalypse

Should there be a section on the Mishapocalypse? it was a pretty big event. KendoSnowman (talk) 22:28, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

"Social Justice" bloggers

One notable segment of Tumblr are "Social Justice" bloggers, known for their extreme rhetoric and distrust (if not outright bigotry) towards members of "privileged" races/classes/sex/gender/sexual orientations/what-have-you. Given their prominence on the site, I think it would make sense to give the group a mention in the "Usage" section. DaL33T (talk) 15:44, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

Do you have any sources? JDDJS (talk) 18:34, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
Well, there is a KnowYourMeme entry on them, but I don't have any journalistic or scholarly sources, if that's what you meant. But if you want proof of their existence, they are everywhere on Tumblr. DaL33T (talk) 15:43, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
Agreed; this is enough of a phenomenon to deserve a mention. (Sorry, haven't looked for sources either, but was surprised it wasn't mentioned in the article.) 31.50.70.172 (talk) 21:09, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
I'll third that. It's all over Twitter too now, but Tumblr seemed to have them first. Equinox (talk) 18:04, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

I don't think it deserves to be in that section. It really deserves to be in the "criticism" section, as their number is very small. Mesmerate (talk) 23:21, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

I mean, is it really important enough to be put on anything? Mesmerate (talk) 00:48, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Removed Employee Number

The employee number for Tumblr keeps increasing and there is no reason as to why the employee number should even be mentioned in the first place in the infobox. Obviously notable Tumblr people like Marco Arment should be mentioned, but not an individual part regarded to the total number of people employed overall, that seems redundant, that's why I removed it. ShawntheGod (talk) 17:22, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

I've restored it as I don't see why you wouldn't include it. The number of people a company employs is one of the most important bits of information about a company. It gives an indication of the size of the company. Furthermore, I don't see how it is redundant to listing the key people or how the fact that the number keeps increasing is relevant. - Kollision (talk) 11:58, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Adult content

Not all adult content is allowed on tumblr. Child porn is not, and with it, drawn child porn is not allowed either. I feel this should be mentioned, because tumblr does delete blogs that feature such adult content, rather than allowing freedom of expression reign supreme, so people might get the wrong impression. Oct13 (talk) 21:10, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

That's not particularly worth noting, since virtually all websites (certainly any with any kind of public image) ban child pornography. Adult content here means pornographic content, but not illegal images of child sexual abuse, which I believe is how most readers would understand the term. You do have to fill this stuff out, you know.

You do have to fill this stuff out, you know. This is what is posted by the sign up if you leave it blank. We should add this to the article.--150.216.254.207 (talk) 02:15, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Adding information on open-source

I am not able to add the information that the source code of Tumblr is open-source and available on Github:

https://github.com/tumblr

Can someone please add this information?

Thankfully,

Some info on messaging and message in reblogs

Tumblr used to have messages, likes and reblog. Then the message was removed and later an IM was added and today message come back but linked to the IM instead of the old way, also Tumblr dissable ask and any kind of communication with exception of reblog with staff account, but tumblr account keep suggesting to send complains and asks to staff even if staff disable ask all together. I thing this info either from the messaging thing and the lack of support should be added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.162.77.168 (talk) 00:54, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

Can someone change the Start date and age template from its current {start date and age|2007|2} to {start date and age|2007|02|19} to correspond to Tumblr's official formation.[1]

  Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format.  B E C K Y S A Y L E 08:01, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

Material Design Award

Could someone add the Android Material Design award for Delightful Animation to the Recognition section? Staff post, android dev blog.

Replies

The inbox and messaging section is also somewhat outdated - messaging as now been rolled out to everyone. In addition, some mention of the replies post should probably be made, here are the relevant references: Replies added, removed and added back in 2016.

Advertising and Creatrs Network

Advertising on tumblr is somewhat unique, and perhaps should get it's own section? Basic information about how advertising works can be found here and information on the 'Creatrs Network,' which brings artists on tumblr to advertisers can be found here.
