The Demographics section needs to be cleaned up,the population information is presented twice and the bar-graph visualization is unnecessary if included in numerical form at the chart on the right. Population text needs the citation to explain the realignment of the city boundaries. (I lack the wiki formatting skills to do this at this time)

It seems the Devanagari word for udaipur seems to appear differently in windows and linux-based systems. I was using firefox in both cases. On linux the 'u' in 'pur ' was shifted to 'r' making it 'udaiparu'. So I corrected that. Now it appears on windows, that spelling was correct. Any ideas why this is inconsistent?

Issues with the article

edit

I apologise for the delay but here is an overview of all the major drawbacks of this article which need to be fixed before it can be nominated for GA:

  • The lead is in a pretty bad shape first of all. The lead should summarise all the major topics of the article. Take cues from Kerala and New York City.
  • For a city this significant historically, the History section is way too short. A lot can be (should be) added before it can satisfy the GA criteria. Mumbai and Kerala's History sections could be used as a guide perhaps.
  • Geography section appears to be a bit disorganised; a couple of images can be dropped and the use of bullets can be reduced.
  • Demographics and Government can be expanded, especially the latter is too short.
  • Tourism: the entire section is essentially a list and should rather be in prose form. Kerala can be looked up for that again.
  • Places nearby: I fail to see as to why there is a need for this section at all. It can easily be removed.
  • The lists from Education should be turned into prose, and Media needs to be expanded a bit.
  • This is perhaps the most significant issue in this article: the prose. The article is not neutral in a lot of places. There are far too many grammatical errors in the prose as well. A major overhaul would be required to fix this issue; perhaps WP:GOCE could help.
  • References are a mess; a lot of bare links, dead links and improperly formatted refs. Most of the references need to fixed.
  • The last thing is that a lot of prose in the article lacks citation; and it will take a considerable amount of time before all of the uncited facts can be referenced.

I hope that this gives a good enough idea as to why this is far from the GA status. Ping me whenever you need clarification or help with something. Regards, Yash! 16:34, 16 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Yash! for providing such detailed feedback. We have already started working on your suggestions, and will surely be in touch in case we need any further assistance with this. Thanks again. Vishal0soni (talk) 03:42, 18 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

"At present, Arvind Singh Mewar is the 76th custodian of the Mewar dynasty"

edit

It should be pointed that this is disputed. His older brother Mahendra Singh Mewar is considered by many to be the actual holder of the title. Although Mahendra Singh was disinherited by his father Bhagwat Singh, Mahendra Singh was ritually proclaimed to be the successor Maharana after his father's death. The properties were willed by their father to the younger brother Arvind Singh Mewar by his father. Mahendra Singh, although now a person of modest means, is still regarded to be the Maharana by the locals.[1] [2][3][4] Malaiya (talk) 23:00, 24 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Infobox image

edit

I can't help but notice that the image for Pratap Gaurav Kendra in the infobox very obviously appears to be edited/manipulated to misrepresent the scale of the statue. Should this image be removed from the article altogether? GeneralPoxter (talkcontribs) 02:02, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
