There were two disambiguation pages for Universal. They have now been merged.

There are three very similar articles that can be confusing: Universal, Universality, and Universalism. The tasks below need to be done for this article:

  • The articles listed in See also need to be checked to make sure that everything is linked to the correct article/disambig.
  • Most of the articles that link here should go to a specific page rather than this one (the disambig page).
  • Double redirects exist and need to be fixed.

Scratch one task off the list. Twisted86 04:39, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I suggest we merge all 3 disambiguation into one. Meaning merge into Universal, usually it is better to use the noun of the word as disambiguation, however, since the noun hint too strong in relation astronomy and mathmatical constant, I propose we use the Universal page. --Ramu50 (talk) 02:31, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't see any need to merge disambigs. This disambig is for universal, the universality disambig is for universality, etc. Although we might merge minor variations in, we don't usually play linguist and disambig the roots or stems of the words: univers-.Dave (talk) 02:22, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

False modifiers

edit

"As a modifer" means as an adjective. For the form, universal, there is no other possibility. Universally, the adverb, is a modifier also, but that isn't our form. Some of the instances given however ar not modifers, they are modified. That means, they are nouns. Since we are trying to be correct here I am creating a new category of "universal", as a noun.Dave (talk) 01:23, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

PS. I changed my mind. I'm going to eliminate the false "modifier" category and distribute the items to subject topics, because many of the latter are also modifiers and nouns. We can't do it both ways.Dave (talk) 01:37, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

False universal

edit
  • "The Universe, defined as the summation of all particles and energy that exist and the space-time in which all events occur"

Universal does not refer to the universe and never did. Moreover, universe is not universal.Dave (talk) 01:29, 16 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Song

edit

Does the Blur song cover the 1968 hit song of the Small Faces? Then the original should be taken, of course! - Yog-S —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.102.107.117 (talk) 02:39, 19 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup and removed entries

edit

I removed many entries that appeared to be partial title matches, per WP:D: topics that have "universal" in the titles but would not be referred to as just "universal." For example, Universal suffrage; "universal" is simply describing the type of suffrage, and would have no relation to the concept of suffrage except as part of the whole phrase. A user would not be likely to expect to find the article on universal suffrage located at the title Universal.

Here are the entries I removed for this reason:

Social sciences

edit

I don't understand how metaphysics falls under the category of social sciences. And linguistics probably does not as well. Someone more familiar with the field should recategorize them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yel D'ohan (talkcontribs) 12:28, 14 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
