Until Dawn Remake or Remaster?
editNyxaros keeps reverting my multiple changes because I call Until Dawn for PS5/PC a remake, but they say it is a remaster. I say it is a remake because it is being rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, and multiple articles refer to it as a remake (even if most of us initially assumed it would be a remaster). There are other PlayStation examples of 1-for-1 remakes such as Shadow of the Colossus, Demon's Souls, and The Last of Part I (which are all considered remakes by Wikipedia). 2A00:23C6:D584:5B01:2096:836D:BE55:6B69 (talk) 19:33, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- Reading the reliable sources, and our article on remakes and remasters. It sounds closer to a remake than a remaster. - X201 (talk) 20:04, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

- It was hard for the IP to add the "multiple sources" after all... ภץאคгöร 20:57, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- It was not hard, I thought 1 or 2 sources were enough, you were just acting in bad faith. 2A00:23C6:D584:5B01:A10B:2AE9:16FB:9F55 (talk) 21:15, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- The game is a remaster by the definition of remaster. It is not being rebuilt from scratch and the changes to gameplay will be minimal. It should be referred to as a remaster in the article. --FerretBandit (talk) 23:12, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- Exactly. It should be labelled as a remaster because of the definition. It's not being rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, it's being ported to Unreal Engine 5, meaning, they updated the engine. When Fortnite was changed to Unreal Engine 5 from 4 it wasn't a remake, it wasn't even a remaster, it was just an update to the engine.
- They are calling it remake as a marketing stunt, but it's not a remake and it shouldn't be labelled as such. Liderangel (talk) 04:56, 31 May 2024 (UTC)

Changes in remake
editGiven that the remake has some fairly big changes to the game, should they not be mentioned. Two particularly big examples are the fact that Josh can be saved without dying or turning into a Wendigo, and the fact that an epilogue scene shows Sam gaining a scar. Evidence here. Until Dawn Remake - New Ending Everyone Lives & New Post Credits Scene (2024) (youtube.com) Given that this is not a new game, these two major scenes should be mentioned in the plot section of the game. - The remake version of the game was just released and it included some fairly significant changes to the plot (format using {{textdiff}}):
- First of all, the part on the game covering the remake "Legacy" says "It will be released on October 4" when it already has been released, and the ending is fairly drastic. Josh can now actually survive the game rather than turn into a Wendigo if he showed remorse and an epilogue scene has Sam having nightmares and having a mysterious scar on her arm.:
