Completed a copy edit. This article is primarily sourced from the subject's own website, and the text was highly promotional in nature. I've removed the worst of the neutral point of view violations, but the article needs more second-party sources to meet the WP:BLP policy. Macwhiz (talk) 14:50, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

The man seems to be prominent as an architect and sculptor in India, and particularly in Tamil Nadu. A lack of English language sources is frequently a problem when dealing with many Indian subjects. The size of the projects he has carried out in India supports his notability, even without much in the way of published English language sources. Hopefully some good sources will eventually turn up. 173.52.134.182 (talk) 15:22, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
He may be prominent, but the article is sourced mostly from the man's own webpage. That's a straightforward violation of WP:BLP, and according to that policy should result in immediate removal of large parts of the page. The material in question is self-serving, it makes claims about third parties (those who have purportedly commissioned his work), it involves claims about events directly related to the subject, and the article is primarily based on such sources. On the basis of these facts, the article badly fails the "Using the subject as a self-published source" criteria of WP:BLP. A lack of English-language sources is troublesome, as well; refer to WP:NONENG. It's difficult or impossible to verify non-English sources. As WP:BLP says "All quotation and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation." That's not true of this page. I am reinstating the BLP banner, and adding the page to the BLP noticeboard. Macwhiz (talk) 16:03, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
The actual work by the man supports his notability. But if you think an AfD is justified, that is understandable. But in my view you may be misapplying WP:BLP. In any case, please either remove the tag, or file an AfD that would resolve the issue.
I want to make clear that I have no association with the subject of this article. My interest is in the visual arts, and I found out about this architect/sculptor through the WP article at the time I did some editing to improve the article. 173.52.134.182 (talk) 16:48, 27 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
There are numerous books written in English by Dr. V. Ganapati Sthapati. He has written over 30 books and monographs. The claim that there are no English sources in not accurate. He has been quoted in numerous books and papers all in English. Furthermore there are numerous newspaper articles about the man and his work in English. His works (temples and sculptural forms) are well known throughout the world. In his field, he holds the same status as the american architect Frank Loyd Wright. The 133' stone statue at the tip of India for example is one of his works and is perhaps one of the most significant sculptures in the world in terms of engineering. Finally, he was awarded one of India's most prestigous awards, Padma Bushan for the arts. To call the article self-promoting or imply that it is self- serving is rediculous - the man is dead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.1.38.232 (talk) 12:55, 14 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
