KUI JUN 奎俊
editThe Governor-General (Viceroy) of Sichuan is listed as Kui Jun 奎俊 for the years 1898-1902. However no photograph is available. I wish to suggest that a group photograph taken by author R. L. Jack in his 1903 book "The Back Blocks of China" describing his travels ( as a mining engineer) within Sichuan province during 1900 probably includes an image of Kui Jun. The older bearded European in the middle row of this photo is almost certainly the author Dr.Robert Lockhart Jack ( Australian engineer and mining expert). He describes his meeting with the "Viceroy of Szechuan- Kwei Chun". The Chinese official to the right of Dr. Jack is therefore, probably Kui Jun although another possibilty is that this was the Commissioner of Mines at Chengdu "Li Cheng Ying" ( Wade Giles romanisation) .
To view the photograph ( the first illustration in the book in the Introduction) you can download a pdf of the full book at the WayBack Machine website. [1] Chinarail (talk) 07:50, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
